Surface Milan

looks awesome :) now they just will need to find some other useful things to with it except picture viewing ;) (i love the way you can save/download pics from other devices )

Absolutely awesome...and...powered by Vista!

Oh noes. Can't imagine what viruses will be released for it. :p

Multitouch..hmm sounds familiar, isn't there a product coming out with it in the next few weeks? :p

I looks cool. but i'm confused about something...if this has been in development for 5 years (which is what they said on NPR this afternoon when talking about this story) then why was jeff han (of perceptive pixle) showing the same technology off at the last consumer electronics show this year? i saw him in the video so maybe it's his technology MS decided to buy/use?

^ It is one of the tricks of journalism. It has been in development for 5 years but not by them. As I recall Jeff Han came up with the idea of using IR cameras to detect hand movements. It was on a thread here a few months back. I guess MS has bought the patent.

Oh - well all I have seen so far is the ability to play finger paint on a table, and organize pictures - and my camera is NOT wifi capable. I didn't even know they HAD wifi capable camera's! Why the hell would they want that. Its ridiculous. I plug my damn sony camera into my mac, and it uploads into a new album. OR I can take the damn chip out of the camera, plug it into my sony laptop, and it uploads those too just as easily! My MacBook has far more technology and performance. AND she's fierce!!!!!!..|

:rotflmao:

let me guess when apple release their surface computing desktop it will be the best thing ever and you will have to have one

if you cant see the possibilities

you could use it as a desktop you could take you wallet out of your pocket put it on the desktop it brings up you bank details you enter your password and do banking online want to pay your phone bill put your phone next to the bank window it brings up your phone bill and you can pay it

what about you bring home your laptop or tablet pc put it on the desktop open up a word document you have been working on add and edit it then save it to your mobile so you can work on it at another place

this is just a couple of ideas off the top of my head there are millions more just think outside the square and imagine the possibilities

^Hey please don't lump us all together :( I think the technology is great. Apple will doubtless use it as well if the patents aren't all sewn up. It is all pretty easy at the moment on a mac as my vid shows. I am sure it is just as easy on vista. I am looking forward to trying it in a few days when it has all arrived ;). Thanks (you know who you are) Note I am only doing this as I am a bit bored and I have just got a 1 gig micro sd for my phone for £6.00 though what that has to do with anything I have no idea. I want my table top with OS XI or Windows Panorama or whatever OS is best at the time.

yes wifi is considerably faster

the DU meter is 6mB/s so thats 6000kB/s and that is at the other end of the house

^Yes I know it is I have 7 computers on my wireless network and it runs at 54 meg on a good day 11 on a bad one. Sadly my phone does not have wifi.

i only have 3 and a couple of Nintendo DS's which use it i think the du meter is MegaBytes per second not Mega bits and i cant remember the conversion

times 4 approximately thank you google so about 24 Mb/s ;)

I usually work it out as 10 bits per byte as in 8 data bits a stop bit and a bit of handshaking. which means you are going at 60 Mb/s so maybe it is 9 bits per byte in which case you get 54 Mb/s which is the speed of 802.11g when it is going full tilt. Maybe you have one of the accelerated versions.
