This is the thread to discuss the upcoming Survivor 20 because the posters of the Survivor: Samoa thread don't want to clog up that season's thread with spoiler tags. ;)

Here's what we know about Survivor 20 right now:
-The season has finished shooting in Samoa.
-The rumored theme is Heroes vs. Villains, with twenty returning players.
-The rumored cast is:
  • Jerri, Colby (Australia)
  • Boston Rob (Marquesas)
  • Rupert, Sandra (Pearl Islands)
  • Tom, Stephenie (Palau)
  • Danielle, Cirie (Exile Island)
  • Candice, Parvati (Cook Islands)
  • Amanda, Courtney, James (China)
  • Sugar, Randy (Gabon)
  • Tyson, Coach, JT (Tocantins)
  • Russell (Samoa)
  • Alternate male: Ozzy (Cook Islands)
  • Alternate female: Natalie (not sure if it's Micronesia or Samoa Natalie)

The best way I can break down the heroes and villains would be:
Male Heroes: Colby, Rupert, Tom, James, JT
Male Villains: Tyson, Douche, Russhole, Randy, Boston Rob
Female Heroes: Sugar, Sandra, Cirie, Amanda?, Stephenie?
Female Villains: Jerri, Candice, Parvati?, Danielle?, Courtney?

Like I said in the Samoa thread, the female casting is odd. Parvati and Danielle were not really villainous, Courtney was popular but she wasn't an OTTP darling like Cirie or Sugar, Amanda being a "hero" when her alliance mates are "villains" is bizarre, and Stephenie can go either way because she's had both types of edits (although it's likely the Palau heroine edit is the one that viewers remember). I assume the alternate for the women is Micronesia Natalie, and she would have made a way better villain than freaking PARVATI.

The casting is a little odd, too. It would have cool to have one player from every previous season (since this is the 20th season and 10th anniversary of Survivor), with one extra player representing one of the more popular seasons, but oh well.

As much as I would LOVE to see Amanda get to final Tribal Council and choke for the THIRD time, I doubt that would happen. The spoilers for China had said that Amanda beat Todd and, because Micronesia filmed before China's finale, Amanda actually went into Micronesia believing that she had won, which is why she fell apart at the end for a second time.

I'm glad to have Cirie, Sandra, Courtney and Sugar back if the spoilers are true.

WHERE THE FUCK IS CHRYSTAL AND TAJ?????

Damn I thought Candace from last year was the one listed, she was hott.

Why the fuck is Rob and Rupert back? Weren't they on All Stars? Not fair!

I hate Randy, Coach and Tyson! Damn I wish Crystal from Gabon was in this, I loved her ass!

Ok who is Danielle? and Courtney? Dont remember them at all

Parvati<333333333333 Amanda<3333333333 SANDRA<33333 Cirie<3333 Sugar<3333 and Stephanie<3333

thank god this is incorrect
Jenna Morasca is confirmed to be a cast member and i dont see her on the list

Courtney was the skinny, snarky blonde in Survivor China. She was in an alliance with Todd and Amanda and, hilariously, got two votes in the final Tribal Council to finish in second place and beat Amanda.

Danielle... well, she was pretty forgettable. She was just some brunette chick on the younger women's tribe in Exile Island. She was the runner-up against Aras.

I think my ideal cast (one that represents every season, with Outback/Pearl Islands getting two representatives because they're two of the most popular seasons, while trying to use the most memorable players from each season and still having an equal ratio of villains and heroes AND men and women) would have been:

S1 - Borneo: Hatch (male villain)
S2 - Outback: Colby (male hero) and Jerri (female villain)
S3 - Africa: Teresa (female hero)
S4 - Marquesas: Rob (male villain) or Kathy (female hero, alternate)
S5 - Thailand: Helen (female hero)
S6 - Amazon: Jenna or Heidi (female villain)
S7 - Pearl Islands: Rupert (male hero) and Jonny Fairplay (male villain)
S9 - Vanuatu: Ami (female villain)
S10 - Palau: Bobby Jon (male hero)
S11 - Guatemala: Stephenie (female hero) or Judd (male villain, alternate)
S12 - Exile Island: Cirie (female hero)
S13 - Cook Islands: Ozzy or Jonathan (male hero)
S14 - Fiji: Yau-Man (male hero)
S15 - China: Courtney (female villain)
S16 - Micronesia: Natalie (female villain)
S17 - Gabon: Sugar or Crystal (female hero)
S18 - Tocantins: Coachebag (male villain)
S19 - Samoa: Russhole (male villain)

Admittedly, Africa (other than Lex... and he already had a major part in ruining the first All-Stars, so fuck him) and Thailand are short on memorable characters. I'm also taking into consideration people that DEFINITELY wouldn't come back, such as Colleen from Borneo, Elisabeth from Outback, Ethan from Africa (he has cancer), etc. I can kind of see why they ignored the idea of representing every season because it'd be hard to equally represent all four categories and bring back all of the most memorable/popular contestants.

Jenna really is doing this while HER HUSBAND IS BATTLING CANCER????? She did this shit on All Stars and if she didn't go home, her mom was going to die 8 days after she quit.

Jenna is not a contestant on season 20; her last TV appearance on TNA Impact was August 20 (filmed August 16-17) and she commented on her release on September 13th (link). Even ignoring time line flaws, which would be present, Jenna flat-out states she isn't on the next season.

Also, Ethan and Jenna aren't married.

Well Im not surprised with the cast...

i'd love to see sugar come back but with randy ???

I think stephenie is going to be in this season obivoulsy just like coach is going to be featured in that season too

Btw I thought sierra was bout to make a come back ? But if you would take female heroe in Tocantins that would be erinn right ? she survived her own tribe to be in the final 3 (she was on the chopping block the first week)

I'll be satisfied with basically any cast just as long as Fairplay is not part of it. . . . again.

I bet that unless this one becomes a surprise ratings smash that it will be the final Survivor. This one seems like an obvious choice for CBS to admit "we have exhausted our creativity with this show."

I hope Amanda makes it to the final tribal and implodes for the third time.

I'm glad Cirie, Sugar, Sandra and Courtney are back. I assume the Danielle in question is the one from Exile Island and, in that case, that's a pretty strange pick. I don't really care about any of the guys, but at least it won't be the Coach show this time... because of Rupert. The villains for the men are pretty easy to peg: Tyson, Douche, Randy, Russell and Boston Rob.

The girls are little harder to determine. Jerri and Candice were definitely cast as villains. Sugar was given an OTTP (over the top positive for those unfamiliar with Survivor Sucks' analysis of character editing) edit on Gabon and Sandra/Cirie were popular so they're all heroes. From there, it's a mess. Parv and Danielle are probably meant to be "villains" even though neither was that bad (and Parv was simply the flirt), and Courtney's snarky attitude makes me think she's supposed to a "villain" even though she was popular. Amanda being a "hero" if her alliance mates from China (Court) and Micronesia (Parv) are "villains" is nonsensical, and Stephenie is hard to peg because she had a good edit in Palau but a horrible edit in Guatemala. Very odd casting for the women given the season's theme.

The guy who posted the cast said that Sandra was a villain and Candice was a hero which is really odd

Oh for godsakes, I can't take this spoiler shit (and it's a bitch to read in white) so IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS FOR NEXT SEASON DON'T CONTINUE READING THIS POST OK? UM YOU'RE STILL READING SO THIS MUST MEAN YOU'RE OK WITH IT. AIGHT:

I'm excited about Courtney but I hate hate hate that Amanda, Ozzy and especially James (ugh) get a third whack in three years at it! I don't really care to see Candice again, I'm gonna HATE seeing Randy again, I don't understand why Parvati and JT get another try so soon after winning, and yeah OK I know this is Cirie's third try also, but she was so clearly robbed with that last minute twist on Micronesia (and she's the best player to never win the game) that I think she's far more deserving than arrogant Ozzy, jackass James and dopey Amanda.

Anyone who doesn't try to take Amanda to the end though is an idiot. I expect Cirie to be all over that shit.

Ozzy isn't playing

And like splint said Jenna M isn't on but he said she was there to interview the castaways

The guy who posted the cast said that Sandra was a villain and Candice was a hero which is really odd

Wow, that makes absolutely no sense. Sandra was one of the fan faves from Pearl Islands (hell, she was even aligned with the MOST POPULAR CASTAWAY EVER) and Candice was given a horrible edit in Cook Islands with her decision to mutiny, especially how they made it look like she left Yul's tribe just to go snuggle up with Adam.

Ekim21, I'm sure that Sierra would have been a possibility but they already had two popular blonde models (Sugar and Courtney) and three contestants from Tocantins, so they probably left her out to diversify the cast a little more. Plus, she might have not wanted to do it again.

I maintain that the female casting was pretty odd for the season's theme.

For some reason I really liked Amanda and Ozzy. Both of their aptness in the wild wows me. Granted, both of them aren't the best in how they played the game, it still amazes me how strong they are when it comes to individual immunity, and you're sitting there chewing your toe nails (don't judge) and sweating and huffing and puffing, and then- yet again- Amanda and Ozzy wins!

Plus Ozzy's SO cute. He stated before that he feels most natural in the wild, why isn't he returning again for this season I can't fathom.

I'm not thrilled with this cast. James & Amanda playing the game together three times (and if it's hero's vs villains they're BOUND to be together on the heroes side a THIRD TIME) does not thrill me. I'm not a fan of either, though I enjoy Amanda more than James. Both are failures at the game more or less (Amanda mostly being a failure at the jury section mostly but pretty good at getting there) and I feel like the show just wants one of them to win.

I can tolerate Steph a third time around but I"m not thrilled with it. She managed to get to me the first time around adn teh second time the way the villified her made me like her more, considering fucking Rafe screwed her out of the money the second time and fucking first time she organized the women to take out Super-Douche Tom W and fucking Caryn made one of the dumbest moves in Survivor history and certainly the dumbest move that season and foiled Plan: Obviously The Best Move.

As for our other threepeats:
Jerri - Given the theme I'll allow it. She was the first real villainess, even if she wasn't very good at it.
Colby - Nice guy. GREAT eye candy. Excellent sentimental crush value. I'm all for it, even if he doesn't add anything.
Rupert - I'm done with. Go away forever.
Boston Rob - Well he was highly overrated in All Stars. If that myth is debunked by an early ouster I'm fine with that.
Cirie - Bring on my girl!!!! Cirie could be on every season for all I care. I'm a little worried I'll lose her too soon as she's got so close twice and people will likely take note and hold that against her. But I'll risk it for sure.
Parv - Again? Do we need this? Do we really need Cirie, Parv and Amanda ALL playing again? She wasn't a mastermind . She was decent. At times amusing. At times annoying. Not a fan of this choice.

As for our new repeats:
Sandra - I'd be OK with this is Rupert wasn't there but she's just going to be his minion all over again. When I first saw this I thought it was Sundra from Cook. I prefer Sandra though I don't know if she'd be my pick.
Tom - My god I LOATHED him. I'm actually glad he's back though. I'd like to see him knocked down a few pegs put in a position when being self righteous didn't happen to coincide with his best move. Watch him try and justify his shady moves when he's forced to make them.
Danielle - WTF? I known she came in second and all but she did nothing. She wasn't entertaining. She wasn't a good competitor. She wasn't a good strategist. She just was. Maybe they picked her because they needed some pawns to make a good chessboard.
Candice - Do we need to subject ourselves to this?
Courtney - HELLS YEAH. I think we found an excellent Eliza replacement
Sugar - I get it. Wouldn't be my choice. Could be entertaining
Randy - I get it. Woudln't be my choice. Could be infuriating.
Tyson - UGH... vomit, vomit, vomit. Another person who spent more time talking then doing and was pretty unremarkable.
Coach - I don't see how this can end well. One of two things happens here. Coach is a "villain" and spends an entire time on the island complaining about how he's not a villain or is a "hero" and spends the entire time marinating in the fact he earned that title.
JT - They do try and get one hick each season. Position officially filled.
Russel - I don't know if I can handle Coach and Russel. Don't even know.

My prediction of team breakdowns

Heroes: Colby, Rupert, Sandra, Tom, Danielle?, Stephanie?, Amanda, James, Sugar, JT
Villains: Jerri, Boston Rob, Cirie, Candice, Parviti, Courtney, Randy, Tyson, Coach, Russel

If this is the set up really see Court and Cirie cliquing up, which I'd enjoy. There are certainly enough morons for them to make fun of. The villains would also be full of people who are more talk than show and people who's personalities are incredibly grating but who are gamewise harmless, (ie Coach or Randy) I'd be curious if the smart players would lug them along or just get too worn down by their personalities. At the same time there's plenty to misdirect to if someone like Court or Cirie falls an early target for being "weak."

The hero side I would imagine would be boring with alot of playing for 'honor' and keeping the 'strongest competition' around. None theless I think there will be insecurities which manifest in the form of passive aggression and rationalizing underhanded moves.

As for my 'Dream Team' going with this theme I've assembled mine.

I was surprised how many people I disliked who I included on both sides of the aisle. For example I HATE Terry and I HATE Tom but I'd love seeing them on the same team so they can blatantly struggle for the alpha position and Cirie can comically comment until they can get shipped out. I also used the hero/villain distinction in terms of public perception and not personal preference. I also included dynamics that I thought would be interesting and players who impressed me and players who I think could've impressed me if not for circumstances that led to their ouster. I put Jaison as a maybe for the heroes because time still needs to reveal that but right now I'm loving him.

Hero:
Colby: Outback
Kathy: Marquesas
Tom: Palau
Amy: Guatemala
Tracy: Micronesia
Terry: Panama
Brad: Cook Islands/Jaison: Samoa?
Michelle: Fiji
Brenden: Tocantins
Sierra: Tocantins
(There is to be a mandatory Colby/Brad/Brenden 3-way each episode until one of them is voted out)

Villain:
Richard: Borneo
Rob: Amazon
Stephanie: Palau
Natalie: Micronesia
P.G.:China
Ace: Gabon
Corrine: Gabon
Coach: Tocantins
Erinn: Tocantins
Dreamz: Fiji

I also want to include and oddball category of people who i think wouldn't be dynamic enough gamewise or weren't visible enough to warrant a callback but who I personally enjoyed greatly.

Oddball: Gretchen: Borneo, Ryan O: Pearl Islands, Cindy: Guatemala, Bobby: Panama, Aaron: China

Jerri - Given the theme I'll allow it. She was the first real villainess, even if she wasn't very good at it.

Yeah, I definitely agree. I went back and watched Outback earlier this year and I couldn't believe how Jerri was supposed to be such a villainess. Even ignoring the fact that I watched it months removed from Gabon and that vile bitch Corinne, Jerri was still freaking tame! She accused Kel of smuggling beef jerky but that's all she did besides wanting to hook up with Colby. It was hilarious how everybody hated her, though, and that season fell over and died after they voted her out IMO.

I'm also in total agreement with your opinion regarding Tom W.; I hated him. Palau was basically over for me after they voted out Steph because I didn't like ANY of those people left on Koror, and Tom was one of the most annoying of them all.

Also, considering Cirie's unbeatable social skills, the castaways would be incredibly stupid to let her get far into the season for a third time. But if she pulled off the 3-2-1 vote in Exile Island and played a major role in getting Erik to give up his immunity in Micronesia, I have no doubts that Cirie could do anything (other than not get voted out just before the final tribal council ). Courtney, on the other hand, is a strategic non-factor, so if she doesn't get booted early for being weak (I hope the girl ate a sandwich or twelve in preparation for another season), I expect her to stick around for awhile to give us more hilarious confessionals.

OH MY GOD! I would die (happily) from the sheer awesomeness of that alliance! Thank you for giving me that idea and making me anxious now for the Russell Show to be over already so we can get to All Stars 2.5! ;) I hadn't even thought of that but yes, I can totally see Courtney and Cirie lining up. And Courtney could go far again; she's totally the kind of person who would be underestimated for a second time (a la Cirie on Micronesia). The goddess Cirie (bow down fools!) (ww)may have trouble now that she's been underestimated twice and made it so close to the end twice, but hey, if anyone can do the impossible, it's Cirie. I have leared not to doubt her.

Well I think it's a pretty safe bet that Courtney's going to LOATHE Randy and Randy will hate both her and Cirie pretty hard from the get go. I could see them engineering his ouster off the bat if anyone tries to come at the 'vote the weak' angle. Don't hold me to any of this mind you my predictions never have been that accurate ;)

I think Russel is the big wild card here. No one there will know a thing about him yet. He'll just be coming off a season of power trip... God only knows how he'll act. Honestly it's hard to predict as there are so many BIG ego's on the villain side if the spoilers, and my predictions of teams, are correct. I think your more down to Earth 'villains are bound to bond on a 'who the fuck are these whacko's level'

Mind you going into season two the very idea of an alliance was somehow considered 'evil.' Jerry wanted to make an alliance mwhahahahahaha how evil and uncreative of her but no one else had any creativity in them either because that's as far as strategy went. Ironically the 'good' people made an alliance as well only they didn't call it an alliance so it was moral. Ironically 'hero' Colby played the most dishonest game by playing both sides of the fence in his own tribe and still sucking up to the other tribe to save face.

Fact was Jerri thought seh was a seductress but she was just in lust.

I'm also in total agreement with your opinion regarding Tom W.; I hated him. Palau was basically over for me after they voted out Steph because I didn't like ANY of those people left on Koror, and Tom was one of the most annoying of them all.

Oh I love my Steff. First off she's a Jersey girl. Plus in the tribal where Probst convinced Janu to quit I TOTALLY felt my girl. I could totally imagine how she felt. Giving up her job to come out there, fighting through week after week of tribal only to wind up going home when there was someone else sitting there basically saying that they didn't WANT to be there. Plus I just think it was totally awesome that it was the 5'4" girl who was dumb enough to be hte first one out ofo the canoe in hte opening wound up kicking the asses of all the big strong guys to be the last one standing

I know! The most memorable moment of the entire season for me was when Stephenie actually beat Bobby Jon in the firemaking challenge. I completely expected BJ to win that, and then afterward I realized that Steph was going to return to camp and live by HERSELF and my reaction was pretty much, "Whoa, this girl is a badass!"

I'm really curious to see how she'll be portrayed in season 20. Unlike all of the other threepeat contestants who had the same "hero" or "villain" alignment in both of their previous seasons, Stephenie is the only one who really flipped from being blatantly edited as someone the public would love in her first season and then getting a much more negative edit in Guatemala to explain why she lost to Danni in a near blowout.

(Though, despite her worse edit, I think Stephenie ended up STILL being the most popular contestant in Guatemala... so, there's that.)

And about Outback... I found it so hard to get through the rest of that season after Jerri got booted. Tina and Colby kicking out easy jury goats like Jerri, Lamber and Keith must have been the birth of the "The good (read: Christian) people need to win!" BS that was especially present in shows like BB6.

I was about to say QUOTED FOR TRUTH
Almost same for me
Tho i don't get why to put Erinn in the villain team. The girl survived her own tribe down to the Final 3, when she was on the chopping block very early in the game...

I would love to see someone from Samoa too... not sure who tho
And finally, I'd add Sugar in the heroes section
