Survivor 21: Nicaragua

I don't dislike Chase at all. He's nice AND he has an amazing set of pecs. I'd root for him over almost anyone left in the game but I still think Fabio (ugh) is gonna get it.

I want Holly to win Survivor: Nicaragua! She orchestrated eliminating Brenda just like Natalie from last fall's Samoa did with Erik. When Natalie did that, she was independent of Russell, who thought he had the best game. When Holly did this to Brenda, she had to explain to Jane why it was necessary.

My take on the rest:

Sash: lucky he has the immunity; but he seems to have peaked. A second win would be the other males fallling apart.

Jud/Fabio: merely existing.

Benry: smart to listen to Holly in targeting Brenda/Sash, but is he in any way working with Holly and Jane for end game? (If I were him, I'd prefer to compete with and against the ladies over the four other guys.)

Chase: Naonka giving him the Immunity necklace may benefit more than Sash because the latter isn't in good with Holly and Jane (apparently). With Naonka giving up the game, a male is guaranteed for Top 3 (there is, at this point, two females of a remaining seven players).

Jane: Marty said he'd vote for her to win if she were Top 3; and her discipline and fortitude is why I like her. She's no saint, though, and it's foolish to pretend Everybody Loves Jane. She could be to Nicaragua what Lillian was to Pearl Islands.

Holly: perhaps the most evolved player, I think Holly has the means to win this. But it depends on any treachery (as hinted with such possibility in a preview for the 12.08.2010 episode). But she pieced together getting rid of Brenda, and turned the ship around. My feeling is that she'll win. (But that's what it is: a feeling.)

If Fabio wins and people aren't upset about it the same way they were upset about Natalie's and Sandra's wins, then the double standard will be full on displayed. Fabio has done nothing this season, he has been portrayed as dumb and wishy washy. He has done way less than Sandra and Natalie.

Forgot to mention:

Dan: so subtle, his fate seems like Jud/Fabio; if Dan were to stun us in cracking the Top 3, it would feel like Susie from Gabon.

Natalie handled Samoa smartly. Beautiful execution in her approaching female members who originated on the same tribe as Erik. She reasoned with them (at that point 12 were left and, with Erik, they had a 2-to-1 advantage of 8 over Natalie's 4). And Russell, who thought he was the brains of the operation, never gave her credit for making the key move in that game that turned their ship around. (She beat him 7 to 2 in the jury vote. The two he received were from the unbalanced Shambo and Mr. "junior varsity" John.) Russell was really out of the loop in that eppy.

Sandra is my favorite in the ten-year history of Survivor. She is so goddamned fantastic at Survivor there are people who still underestimate her … and she's won twice (Pearl Islands and Heroes vs. Villains).

If Fabio wins, I'll just be annoyed that, once again, we'll have a winner with an edit that's positive, inoffensive and "non-strategic" i.e. they aren't some evil genius mastermind that the average audience member would perceive as a "good player." Just like every other winner after Micronesia. I really miss the older days when somebody who didn't have a squeaky clean crowd-pleasing edit won.

I think no one is giving Jud his just desserts. He has won immunity, been under the wire with everyone, and certainly has the physical ability to win more challenges. I know he is comic relief at times, and I laugh at him. In the very beginning I gave him no odds. Now I think he has as good a chance as anyone of winning. The 2 real players left are Jane and Holly. Sash lost all his creds, Benry doesn't have any at all, and Dan is just hanging around. Chase won't win because he is the wishiest-washy person ever. He followed Brenda'a shorts so long he didn't have a mind of his own and when it looked like he had one he had to ask someone what to do. Brenda didn't like or trust him when he was her best ally, Marty didn't like him because he found out by lie from Dan that Chase wanted him voted off when Chase had told Dan it was either Alina or Marty. Sash is a sneaky, self congratulatory bastard.

Total cosign.

I disagree. Fabio has been far more useless than Natalie and Sandra. It's criminal to even compare. They actually made moves. He really hasn't done an ounce of thinking for himself.

I don't care much for Fabio but I'd just like to say that, from an editing standpoint, he's been featured MUCH more consistently than Natalie and either equally or more than Sandra, so I understand if the casual fans support his win because who they support is almost directly proportional to the player's screentime (see also: Hantz, Russell).

They also keep shoving in confessionals that are supposed to make the viewer think "Huh, Fabio isn't as stupid as he looks!" whereas Natalie only popped in on occasion to say "Oh my word!"

That's what I mean they did much more in the game than he has, but yet people complained about their wins because they played an under the radar game for the most part. If Fabio wins and there isn't the same "uproar" about his win that there was with Natalie and Sandra's win, then it will most likely have to do with their genders.

Well there's also been no Russell equivalent this season, so it wouldn't really be a totally fair comparison.

Na'onka and Russell seem cut from the same delusional cloth to me. But Russhole didn't actually quit, to his credit...

But Na'onka hasn't made quite as many moves as Russell did and Na'onka never said she was a mastermind either.

Yeah, but I think it's pretty clear that the people aligned with Na'onka, i.e. Sash and Brenda, were planning to drag her ass to the end for an easy victory just like Mick, Jaison, Natalie and then Jerri, Sandra and Parvati did to Russell.

Sash was definitely the person most screwed from the two girls quitting. He surely wanted to face at least one, if not both of them in the finals, and he probably would have won 9-0-0 against the both of them.

Oh, and speaking of Sash, I cracked up at the look on his face at TC when Na'onka declared that she was the only black person still in the game. Whoops.

Was it ever stated that Sash was half white/half black? I just thought he was biracial.

That's what we said, dear. ;)

Hell after last season, Sandra became my favorite winner of all time.

Sandra was my favorite winner after Pearl Islands. Heroes vs. Villains just cemented it in my eyes. ..|

Thanks for the info, slip. I thought he was, but I wasn't totally sure.
