Survivor 22: Redemption Island

Well we are near the end. I think after tonite there will be maybe 2 shows left including the finale. Survivor usually ends right around the time that A R does, and the finale for AR is Sunday.

Yeah, AR's finale is this Sunday (May 8 ) and Survivor's is next Sunday (May 15).

Ugh this season is so awful x55910951091509501901940914

I'm officially hoping Rob wins. Fuck the rest of these idiots.

 Yet another episode that I guessed all the way through.

I have to give it to Rob. He kicked ass in the challenge.

RI is getting weird now. The people on RI can play for awards now? Really? And really anyone on RI has just as much chance of winning the game as anyone who is "still in the game". Hell, everyone not on the Jury is still in the game. It's like there are 2 teams in the game again. And please, stop using the term "dual". It's no more a dual than the immunity challenges.

I was going to type something but, ah, who gives a shit about this season.'

Actually the word is duel and not dual even though both mean 2 but duel is a combatant term for a challenge of 2 people - so it is not correct to say duel if there are more than 2 people.

I hate the shit out of Rob. I hope he gets to the final with Phil and loses to Phil so he can go home to Ambuur and still feel like the lesser man. Of course Jeff is aiding his cause with every question he asks. And Rob saying he is doing this for his family is an utter crock of rat shit. he is doing it for himself because he feels like a loser having lost so many times - lose again loser.

I kept hoping that they would not vote off Andrea but R I might be interesting with her and Matt together again for the last time, perhaps.

Mike sucked ass by giving that family gift to Om. You sucked ass, Mike.

Will it turn out that Phil is not as dotty as he has seemed? God I hope not. I like hating his illusional ass.

I'm sure your grade school English teacher would be proud of you. If I had a cookie, I would offer you one. I bet this type of knowledge makes you the life of any party.

I DVR the show but I cant bear to watch this god awful season. I mostly skip around to see if someone eliminates Matt. Unfortunately, no one has. I just cant handle all the Holy Jesus talk keeping Matt on Survivor. Can someone please tell me if there is ANY plan whatsoever to get rid of Rob? It seems these idiots are just handing him the game. Can someone please tell me this isnt true?

I didn't mean to sound like a pompous ass and I'm sorry it came off like that about dualling duels.

Aijalon if you thought Matt was bad with the religion (none from him tonight) thing you hopefully saw Mike giving his "Jesus wants me to do the right thing and give family time to Om." That somehow made me want to smack the mfing shit out of him.

There is no plan to get rid of Rob and with the current combo in play, they won't be eliminating him before the finals. That means, the only way Rob won't make it to the finals is if this stupid Redemption Island twist puts [STRIKE]Matt[/STRIKE] someone else back in the game, right before the finals. Meaning [STRIKE]Matt[/STRIKE] that person would only have to win the Final Immunity and presto [STRIKE]Matt[/STRIKE] that person is in the finals!

That's what I think they're aiming for and it would suck because it essentially means all you have to do is win your way to the end. How disheartening! They might as well turn this show into those Real World/Road Rules Challenges. Redemption Island should have ended at the merge, with the delicious sad trombone moment of Matt being voted right back out again. For good. Having it continue this far is just a way to circumvent the social game (which is why I'm convinced Probst thought of it).

I'm officially hoping Smugmeister Rob wins. If only because everyone else has played SO horribly -- and made no attempt to take him out -- that he deserves to win by default.

And cuz Matt winning would be the worst thing ever.

Only one more show Wed 11th and then the two hour final @ 8 on Sunday 15th followed by live show @ 10 EDT

I like irony and irony to me would be Phil taking Rob's money or Matt coming back and proving that Rob was right about him and Matt takes his cash. The people on that jury right now would give Matt the money, no doubt.

Matt would be the worst winner ever, bar none. Even as a physical challenge whore, with the way the duels have been set up since the post-merge, he hasn't even needed to beat Mike to advance. TWICE now.

Unfortunately, the format of Redemption Island makes it so that Matt can bond with pretty much all of the jury members as they get eliminated, so technically he would win partly using the social game, even though he'd only have to spend, like, ten days in the actual game and was voted out twice.

And I'm very afraid that Matt WILL win despite his one-note edit. Why? Because Andrea has gotten a strangely-tended edit for somebody who, in the grand scheme, was irrelevant. I easily could see the F3 being Rob, Matt and Phillip with Phillip getting no votes and Andrea being the swing vote for Rob and Matt.

You took the words right out of my mouth! I think Matt winning the first set of duels on Redemption (pre-merge) were totally legit and not something production anticipated. It therefore created an appealing narrative i.e. underdog wins his way back into the game. When that narrative was cut short by Rob actually playing the game and voting Matt's dumb ass right back out, I think that's when production switched gears and made the duels even easier for Matt to survive, so the narrative could continue.

You're quite right that not having to win every duel -- just having to not be last in each duel -- has made it significantly easier for Matt to stay in the game longer. Mike legitimately won the last two duels, which means Matt would have already been out of the game had they kept the duel rules the same. It's so obvious that they gerrymandered the criteria to keep Matt in the game longer, and thus prolong the underdog narrative.

I easily could see the F3 being Rob, Matt and Phillip with Phillip getting no votes and Andrea being the swing vote for Rob and Matt.

Do we know for sure if they're doing a F3 or F2 this year? Cuz Rob keeps talking about Phillip as a goat as if it's F2.

If it's F2 then there's no way Matt and Rob can end up in the finals together, since neither would take the other.

If it's F3, wouldn't the rest of them logically vote off Matt or Rob depending on which one doesn't win immunity? I know they've all played stupidly thus far, but I have to believe that right before the finals, the other two people would know not to take Rob/Matt and whichever one of those two won Immunity would vote that way as well. Or am I giving them too much credit?

Although Rob has said that Phillip is his main goat, he's also said that his ideal final three is him, Natalie and Phillip. I don't think production or CBS have stated specifically that this season is a F3, but the jury starting at F12 and the general scheduling of the show indicates that it is. (I can't believe we've needed two double boots and a final three for an eighteen-person season. Fuck Redemption Island.)

Yeah, I dunno, the Rob/Phil/Matt F3 was just me speculating on the editing. Which hasn't been the smartest thing to do this season because RI's editing has been atrocious. Andrea gets content to separate her from the other two Zombietepe girls and indicate that she might play a part in a coup, plus Ashley and Grant get content to indicate that they'll be cut early when it comes down to the six Ometepes, but, no, Andrea's the first one out after the Pagonging is over. Okay then.

Regardless, I think an R/P/M F3 would happen if Matt won the F4 immunity and Rob/Phil took out whichever one of Grant, Natalie or Ashley is left since Phillip is content playing the goat role and doing what Rob says. FTC proceeds to be a rematch of Cook Islands' brains (Yul/Rob) versus brawn (Ozzy/Matt) featuring the 3rd place goat who gets no votes at all (Becky/Phil).

Only with a much more odious result this time around.

Next season, I hope they cast players who know how to play Survivor AND are actually willing to do it! This season IMO has been an epic fail. I'm sure the producers are grateful for Phillip and sad that Francesca was lost so early.
