Survivor 22: Redemption Island

I really, really hate RI.

I feel like we're not really getting know the contestants this season, and it's in large part because of RI using up valuable airtime.

Maybe it's for the better, though, since this seems like a pretty boring cast. Phillip + Ralph's awful misspellings are the only things keeping me watching at this point.

Oh, and Andrea who's now my #1 rooting interest (and seems to have a decent shot at winning).

I don't get the Andrea love at all. However, I don't find this season particularly interesting. It's a pretty boring cast.

..

Good observation. I hadn't thought of that.

Although I can do without Matt reading to us from his new pink Bible. Unless he can cure Phillip of whatever the hell is the matter with him.

According to his LinkedIn page, Phillip was a special agent for 3 years with the Defense Investigative Service, where he was a background investigator. He gives the impression on the show that he was a "federal agent," but in reality he appears to have been a background investigator who primarily conducted interviews and checked records for people who needed security clearances.

Yep that pretty much fits in with trippy-fuchsia-underwear's delusional outrageousness. He's a dream to take with to the end but may be too heavy of a baggage to carry all through the game

I have a feeling that Steph's going to beat Matt. She's been hosting Survivor viewing parties in a bar in her town for a while now. I can't imagine anyone who didn't last very long to be doing that.

Is anybody else feeling the dilf lust on Steve? His audition video on youtube almost made me drool!

The second Russell groupie is gone! That's the complete end of Russell, I hope. (!)

Matt thinks God let him win again.

I think it may have been in the Holy CBS Script-ure.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if five-time Redemption Island winner Matt loses next week's challenge to Sarita of all people?

SO glad the merge is next week. Things are gonna get messy and exciting with several possibilities for flippers!

I hope that Matt wins next week. He def. deserves to go back. I haven't like redemption island either. I think that Matt should have rejoin the tribe after winning 2 or 3 times. And then someone else gets a chance to get back in the game.

Should get interesting next week with the merge.

Letting the Redemption Island victor re-enter the game at the merge is the smarter play, because then he or she has a fighting chance of staying in the game (dynamics often change at the merge). This way, the returning person has the opportunity to work with the rival tribe, or form some sort of coalition with their ally/allies on the old tribe and members of the rival tribe.

If they just sent the ousted person back to a tribe that voted him or her out, it's very likely that they'll simply vote the person right back out again. Think Kaysar on Big Brother 6.

That said, I'd rather not have the Redemption Island twist at all.

I definitely hope Matt wins the next challenge and goes back in the game but the preview shows he has an injured foot so that may take him down.

I am so sick of pee-robst telling Ressell's former tribe how horrible they are since they voted him out. Ressell was only aligned with 2 people ass-pee-robst and did nothing to make the tribe a better tribe. Get over it, asswipe.

I still don't have a favorite player other than Matt (only because he is cool and collected and does what he has to do). His prayers are not at all intrusive or do they make him a crazy freak like so many deeply religious folk.

Why would Rob throw away the clue to a second hidden immunity idol? Can't he have more then one? Did anyone else find that ridiculous?

By the way, I'm pro-Sarita! It would be hilarious is she beat Jesus.

Yeah, Probst and his revisionist, biased recaps are so annoying.

Throwing a challenge to get rid of Russell was not a stupid move at all. It also had nothing to do with Zapatera's losing streak considering, you know, THEY WON THE VERY NEXT CHALLENGE AFTER THEY VOTED OFF RUSSELL.

I'm also not surprised that he wasn't fond of the female-dominated Nicaragua but he looooves this season and its nine men out of thirteen remaining players (nine and a half if you count Julie the She Hulk).

I wish the merge was not happening next week. I think the balance with the two teams is still keeping the show interesting. But I guess they have to if they are letting the redemption island survivor back into the game; otherwise it could be unfair to one of the teams. Still seems at least a week earlier than past merges. Merge at 12 (11 + redemption person)?

I'd hate to see Matt end his streak next week and have Sarita go back into the game after winning just a single contest at Redemption. This is a similar problem that Amazing Race has, where coming in first place every week does not increase your chance at winning the big prize.

And when the redemption person goes back next week, we have to wait until the following week for the next showdown. Unless there is a twist. Like next week's showdown loser gets to stay on redemption island. . .

For next week, the winner from Redemption Island contest will most likely form an alliance with Zapatera. If Matt wins, most likely, he would want to kick Rob's ass because Rob voted him out. If Sarita wins from Redemption Island, she would also want to form an alliance with Zapatera.

I don't think Redemption Island is going to continue after Matt/Sarita go back. Why would it continue?

Why not? The game is only half over.
I could have sworn that Probst, while explaining how RI worked at the Nicaragua reunion, indicated that the RI returnee comes back at the merge and then RI is over for the season, but I can't find the clip of that explanation.
Because he never said it.

The wiki for RI says that at predetermined points (plural) where the RI person will be reinserted into the game. Not that wiki is official, but I believe it is basing it on other countries' version of RI that has been happening for years.

It's already been confirmed that Redemption Island will start again through the new preview for the next episode, so there will be at least two people reentering the game, one at the merge and another at some point in the game.

My nightmare: After the merge the first person sent to Redemption Island discovers that Russell is there.

I actually have to give my thumbs up to this year's cast. I can't believe we're into season 22 and they still never fail to entertain me.

Rob reaching into his pocket and throwing the clue to the immunity idol behind him into a volcano? Classic.

And Phillip? We definitely need more of these cuckoo characters. I think when it comes to the most clueless survivor contestants EVER it'll be a close match between him and Coach. Having said that, he keeps the show VERY entertaining :) and I'd love to see him flip side during the merge for sure.
