Survivor 22: Redemption Island

Any tension that might have been in the Matt/Sarita duel was gone as soon as the recap focused on Matt and Andrea's relationship.

Good episode for Andrea and Matt's edgic chances so far. EDIT: After Rob and Matt's discussion, not so much for him. Andrea remains my top winner pick based on the editing and storytelling.

I LOL'd at Rob's explanation for the merged tribe's name.

So far, the main question I have is why Grant seemed to have black toenail polish on during the immunity challenge, though.

EDIT 2: So glad my eye candy Grant survived! I bet Andrea was the Steve vote.

Since when the hell can somebody just walk up to Probst and declare "I'm playing this hidden idol for ___"? At least in the past, Parvati gave her idols to Jerri/Sandra and Sugar did the same thing for Matty.

Also, Coach and Phil could be twins on the crazy delusional scale.

Part of me sympathizes with poor Matty (mainly the part that wants to jump his bones.) But the rest of me thinks he brought it on himself, playing with his heart rather than his brain. He had all that time alone on RI to think of a strategy should he go back, and evidently he never had much of one. One thing is for sure, his spiritual faith is probably being tested now more than ever. If he makes it back a second time, I am going to church that next Sunday!
 
Fool me once -- sorry Matt but you should have gone with your original plan and blind sided Ometepe.

Rob makes my stomach turn. Philip is just nuts, and he talks so much out his ass.

Matt's a moron...and not just because he's a Christian nut. I hope he's eliminated for GOOD this time on Redemption Island.

Grant really needs to lose that shirt. And Rob really needs to put one on.

I've heard so many gay men say this about Matt and it always astounds me. You realize his staunch Christianity means he probably thinks homo bone-jumping is a sin right? I know not all Christians are homophones but Matt is REALLY Christian (to a pathological degree) which makes it all the more likely he would find gay men repulsive.

I've thought Rob was hot since I first saw him in Marquesas... and still do, despite his extra fat these days. (Actually, "despite" is probably the wrong word there considering my usual tastes...) In fact he's my second favorite on the attractive scale this season after Grant.

I'm now running for my life from all of you and your pitchforks. ;)

Though, for a more normal opinion, Mike's stock has gone up since he's grown a beard. I only really noticed it last night because that's the first time he was featured for more than two minutes in a long time, but yeah.
 
Awww...poor Matty. Blindsided again. Not sure if that would have been a good move by Rob. When Matt says he is going to stick with the tribe, he will. Rob should have just used him. Andrea is kind of a bitch now. I would have thought she would have stuck by Matt this time.

He didn't throw her under the bus. He was trying to level things out with Rob because he knew Rob was gunning for him. Rob took his honesty as an afront as he would any honesty. Rob, knowing that Matty was so religious should have had better perception than that - and I still think Matty should have gone with his original plan.

Matty has not shown any prejudice in his religious confessions. He may be a homophobe for all I know, but he has not shown that he is. Just because someone is devoutly religious does not automatically make them a bad person. He is a good looking guy and his physical appearance can only be changed, for me, by some ugly rant which has not happened as yet.

Yes, Mike has grown into a hot, hot man. I think David is also hot. Not so much Grant, though. he just looks odd with those dreds.
 
It appears Matt has the same problem Andrew had on Big Brother last season.

His sheltered religious background is really a hindrance for these types of games. They aren't skilled at dealing with being a social pariah in a group, which is what happens to everyone, regardless.

The nature of the game does not lend itself to the "let's all hold hands and pray together" strategy.

Also, being honest to a fault is game suicide when everyone is trying to use and manipulate their way to a prize.

I believe that was his intent, but Aratron is right. The way he pitched it to Rob made Andrea look bad. He was all, "Like I told Andrea..." which made it sound as if HE had to convince HER not to flip. Worst of all, he didn't talk to her about it beforehand which is not how you operate in an alliance. Basically if he wanted to admit he was thinking about making a move against Rob, fine (stupid as it may be) but there was no reason to even bring up Andrea's name. And certainly not without asking her first.
