And atheists can be as equally against homo bone-jumping. My lust for Matt is purely physical. Sue me. If the only guys you find attractive are those that are willing to let you personally jump their bones, then you have a very limited palette.

Of course there are homophobes everywhere, but atheism (and I'm NOT an atheist btw) doesn't have an overriding maxim against gay people. Whereas the current strain of staunch American Christianity (of which Matt seems to be a part) thinks gay people are sinners and mobilize politically, socially and financially to deny them equal rights etc. Again, not all Christians are like this. But Matt talks about God every five minutes and genuinely believes that God cares about what happens on a stupid reality show, and that indicates an evangelical fervor that is more than often anti-gay.

When atheists start mobilizing against gays in a similar fashion -- thereby making it central to their beliefs -- I'll concede your point. Until then, it's false equivalency.

But this is just a silly reality show and you're free to root for whomever you want, of course. You're right that physical attraction can often be separate from character appraisal. So, carry on. :D

PS: I certainly rooted for Matt when it was him against Russell, and I'll forever be grateful to him for sending that troll home.
 
Matt will have a more difficult time winning duels this time I think. Pre merge he was facing nothing but women, except for Russell. Now it is much more likely that stronger men will be voted out of the game early merge, I can see guys like Mike, David, Grant, and even Steve and Ralph giving him a run for his money at Redemption Island.
 
I definitely ruled out Matt as an edgic pick after the last episode, so even if he does survive on Redemption Island, he'll probably go right back out for a third time, which would be kind of hilarious if it happened.

I think there's only two possible outcomes to this season left based on the editing. One is that this is the story of how Rob dominates his way to the end and wins, which I doubt because he's been featured at full blast and that's too obvious for the editors, or how Rob dominates his way to the end and loses against a girl he underestimated - Andrea.

I really hope Andrea pulls out the win. For a female potential winner, her edit actually hasn't been bad at all. And she's adorables!

This is true.

I also rooted for Matt to take out Russell and his two bitches but now, he's desent eyecandy, but when he starts inserting God into every sentence it's almost as annoying as listening to Phillip. (almost)

I've saty out of this thread b/c I havent been that interested in this season. I find the concept of redemption island just annoying. And smug, shirtless Rob is too much to take.

But I have to say I agree with my JUB boo. I can't stand how gay people will go crazy over any guy regardless of personality or behavior flaws. The worst is when I guy is racist or bigoted in some way and they constantly make excuses.

That being said, being religious isnt necessarily a flaw. But being a Jesus freak as Matt appears to be is a huge red flag. There's just something so off-putting about him spouting off about his religion all the time. I've never seen someone that religious who doesnt also say "I don't agree with homosexuality b/c that's what it says in the Bible", while conveniently forgetting all the other things they choose to ignore which the Bible deems as awful sins.

The only reason we havent seen him show is homophobia b/c his ass is alone for the most part and there's no one gay for him to raise the issue with. And even if he hasnt show in. The fact that he is so pathologically religious (brilliant way to describe it btw) is just plain crazy and makes me forget any ounce of possible hotness. I do feel bad that Rob and his beer gut sent his has right back to redemption. It still baffles me why the fuck these idiots have let Rob run their team?
 
Loads of suspense from the last vote, but I'm still waiting/hoping for some kind of shake-up because watching a Pagonging isn't exactly going to be riveting. Especially since I don't really like Andrea anymore (mostly editing, or lack there of), the Zaps are all looking doomed and as for my beloved clown samurai Phillip... well he never had a prayer. Hell Matt's chances of winning after being voted off TWICE are still technically better than Phillip's
 
I could be wrong but I feel they are setting up a Matt/Boston Rob showdown on Redemption Island. And I don't care how religious he is, Matt is still very hot!!!!!!! *|*

More like a reasonable suspicion based on the extremity of his religious fervor. Either way though, he's a moron.
 
The last couple of days I have been watching Survivor: Pearl Islands and I am astounded at how good it is; so much better than I remember. Riveting entertainment and at the very beginning you get to know every single character. Osten quitting, Rupert, Burton, Lil, Ryan O, Ryan S, Savage who gets voted out first after the merge, Tijuana, Shawn on and on.

What I found interesting were the challenges which were mostly water based and Morgan was so bad in water competitions.

Then there is the awful Johnny Fairplay who was as nauseating as ever, but falls a little short of Ressell in obnoxiousness.

And Sandra. I had forgotten what a beautiful woman she was and her way of looking right into the camera and laying down her unique way of seeing things.

Survivor is not quite as riveting or entertaining now, I don't think.
 
I watch it online. I felt really bad for Matt...but he's not playing strategically. Who knows...maybe he'll win the entire thing on being honest.
 
Pearl Islands may be the single greatest season of Survivor ever made. At worst it's in my top three and it sucks that so many people have only come to remember it for Rupert and Fairplay over the years. So many casual fans didn't even remember who Sandra was last year when Heroes vs. Villains started and she WON PI. :(

It was a great season. I just finished watching the finale. At tribal it was very clear that Sandra would win. She just knew what to say and the way she says things are so honest.

I will say that 90% of the time it was hard to tell who was going to be voted off. There were several times that Sandra and Krista said they were going to get rid of Rupert or Burton or Jon and it never came about until the Fairplay/Burton reward trip and the women banded together. Sandra was left out of the Rupert scenario and was visibly upset at his demise. She did fly successfully under the radar the whole game. I did want her to rip Fairplay's head off. I detest that sack of shit.
