Survivor 24: One World (Redemption Island is GONE!)

Jay, Michael and Matt look to be the hot jocks this season. Colton is already giving me a red flag with his self aggrandizement and Todd/Cochren "I'm a mastermind!" bullshit. I hope he's out early cuz I love seeing over-confident super fans get knocked down a peg.

Jay sounds like a twelve year old but DAMN his arms.

So um... best premiere episode in YEARS? Interesting things happened AND most of the players had a role. Ironically the most invisible person was probably Leif whose little person status didn't even get a fleeting mention from the rest of the guys.

Sabrina finding an idol in two seconds <3 Alicia being an obnoxious Jersey Shore reject <3 Country girl snapping up chickens by the legs <3 Tribes stealing stuff from each other <3 Colton's "OH SHIT" face when he realizes he's on an all-male tribe <333

Please keep up this momentum, One World. My only complaint was the lack of an intro.
 
I'm liking the new dynamics introduced in the game. Definitely opportunities for new strategies. I agree it was one of the better season starters we have seen in recent years.

I'm surprised more people didn't break their arm in that challenge. They were all jumping wrong after they were clearly warned how to jump and land correctly. Darwin's theory applies here.

Put all women together and it becomes a bitch fest. Put all the men together you get a shit load of chauvinist and one truly amazing and off putting gay guy. The 3 men that are the best looking all look to be 6'5" tall and seemingly asswipes.

Yep, I wish I had seen more of the little person so I am hoping he will play a big role.

It was one of the great beginning shows in quite some time, thanks to no time doing the Island junk.

I also noticed that most of the women are attractive so when things settle down a little flirting and drama .
 
Good episode! Nice eye candy especially Jay with his skimpy tank top.

I kept laughing at the people jumping off onto the net. Barely anyone listened to Jeff regarding keeping their hands to their chest.
 
In pre-interviews, Colton comes across a little full of himself like other super fans (Todd/Cochran) who like to talk about being super geniuses before they even play the game, but on the show he was actually endearing and gave great soundbites. So...I like him but I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be really annoying.

Slipintothefog I can see why you thought it was a good episode but for me it was the TV premature ejaculate. An idol was found but it's the wrong one, a fire was stolen but then goes out, a challenge began but wasn't completed, and a tribal council happened but no one was voted out.

The only music to my ears was Probst confirming NO REDEMPTION ISLAND! Just as God (Cirie) intended it.
 
so i actually really enjoyed the season opener. Alicia is my favorite, the fight with her and christina at tribal was great lol. and while colton is such a sterotype. i kind of like him? because he entertaining.

also liek sabrina, one of the first stronger african american women on the show that i can see goign deep into the game, she isnt hostile liek stacy or weird liek semhar was last year.

i cant wait till the men go to tribal. it would be great if all other 7 guys voted for colton, and he pulls the idol out, and eliminates matt or mike by his single vote. lol

and i think this is the beginning of the end for survivor, the priemire was the lowest ever at just above 10 million. and while thats great for a show 24 seasons in. usually networks start axing shows when they fall in single digits it seems.
 
I think what really made the episode good/entertaining for me was how much of a mess the women's tribe was at camp/tribal council and how much the two tribes seemed to hate each other right off the bat. Plus this cast doesn't seem bad, even though I was just kind of "meh" about them pre-show, and pretty much everybody got some groundwork development in the premiere which I always prefer in any season.

I am tentatively pleased with this season but I can't get too ahead of myself. The first episode of Redemption Island was great too and then the season just collapsed in on itself. However I think the intermingling of the tribes will help prevent the post-merge pagongings that ruined the end-games of both seasons in the RI-era. That and there's no returning players around to form hyper-loyal cults like Rob and Coach did.
 
^^ BTW slip love your avatar. I'm not sure Julie Chen is on the same awesomeness level as my beloved Sandra (your last avatar) but she's certainly a MUCH better host than Jeff Probst.

OMG imagine her at TC? "I will now read the vote BUT FIRST if anyone has an immunity idol..."
 
Oh also I just re-read Colton's obnoxious bio, and I see he described himself as "athletic" which...yeah, he and I must have different interpretations of that word.
 
Yeah I had Sandra as my avatar for a looong time but I had to change it for BB13, haha. Of course, now it's outdated but...

And in the universe where Julie hosts Survivor, if somebody fails to play an immunity idol and gets voted out, Julie can smack the player on the head with the torch snuffer in the same way she hit Marcellas in the head with her cue cards. Same would go if somebody plays an idol and doesn't receive votes, but Russell would be beaten to a pulp before the end of a single season in that case.

I totally forgot to mention how annoyed I was when Colton mentioned Taylor Swift. Like, I just can't witchu.

At least he was making fun of Country Mouse instead of lionizing her like so many people do (I do not get the appeal of that chick or her "music" at all) but yeah I know what you mean. He's definitely trying too hard to be the guy with the lines as opposed to Rob or Dr Will who just naturally are.

Also, I know this is going to sound horrible but I think Colton may be one of those self-loathing gay guys who lacks self awareness especially in terms of how his sexuality is perceived by others? I mean, he's clearly not athletic but he thinks he is and he said, "the girls will love me and the guys won't know what to make of me." Um...no dude, the guys know you're a big flaming mo, and they're fine with it. Nothing wrong with that at all mind you, but he seems to be one of those sad gay guys who considers himself "masculine" or "neutral" when he's really actually very effeminate. I wonder if watching himself back in these episodes/hearing his own voice will be life-altering for him?
