Survivor 27: Blood vs. Water

Did I hear/see wrong or did Colton and Kat get into it during that challenge and he threatened to whack her with his oar?

 Yes, they captioned it when Colton said he would hit her with this paddle. She said, oh, no or something while looking like she was too busy trying to straighten the canoe than pay too much attention to him and he said oh yes I will.

Some nice guycandy. *Brad and John. Jeff Probst is still making me mute the sound during comps with his insidious yelling and pointing out the obvious. I'm pleasantly surprised that Colton's fiance Caleb isn't what he appeared in his cast photos. He's rather cool and collect. Doesn't look bad either.

Good episode. Just can't stand Redemption Island. I thought they would never bring this back after the reaction to the last time they did this. I never understood why everyone loves Rupert, he annoys me.

Rupert did his best with his dramatic messiah complex. I really think he honestly believed he was sacrificing his life to save his wife's.

The episode wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. But I remembered why I hated redemption island, why dont they put the challenge at the end of the episode ? Because the person voted out at TC is not really out of the game and that's not big cliffhanger to end with this.

Anyway, The only real problem is that there's already wayyyy to much drama/emotional moments : Rupert (please go home); VYtas and his drug addiction, Cotlon and being gay, Laura's pregnant daughter and so on...
At first I saw that as editing (Vytas winning kinda feeling) but then It got really annoying & Culpepper is being ridiculously stupid this first episode.

That said the good things:
- Caleb is very good looking I must say
- gervase is already going bananas and even colton did better in the challenges. Cant wait to see him voted out
- Rooting for Laura M. ; Aras, Marissa (because I feel bad for her and I do think she could be a threat) ; Caleb

The concept of this season is very weird tho.
Because why would monica want the win more than her husband ?? I mean she could care less if she or he win at the end.
Like someone said, it's more a game with 10 contestants than 20.

Too much drama/too many emotional moments is not a bad thing for me. Most other seasons call that "character development" and it's something usually bereft from the Redemption Island seasons. But I'm getting ahead of myself because we only got a lot of those scenes due to the ninety minute premiere and next week it'll be back to wall-to-wall RI, challenges and a token one or two camera whores (BRAD CULPEPPER).

I get why the loved ones would want to beat each other. They're competitive people. Also, I doubt many of these people even live together. Ciera and Katie are adults, and Ciera is married with kids; they probably don't still live with their moms. Aras/Vytas and Gervase/Marissa probably live pretty separate lives. Tyson/Rachel and Kat/Hayden aren't married, and Colton/Caleb are only engaged. That leaves only Rupert/Laura, Brad/Monica and John/Candice as the married couples who share the same households and assets and shit, and even John and Candice were last minute alternates for RC and her dad.

Totally off topic but where is this from? I'm seeing this chick everywhere lately.

I guess to make this post somewhat pertinent... I'm not a huge fan of Candice (I like her a little bit though which I think is more than most here - she's so average but somehow she causes drama everywhere she goes), but it would be fucking HILARIOUS if she and Marissa boot out Rupert first in the next episode's duel.

Just a quick question, in the first post it says "In this season, remaining contestants may choose to switch places with their partner if their partner is on Redemption Island." Was that a one time thing, or will Gervase be able to switch with Marissa?

Not my favorite list of returning players. I don't like the Redemption Island addition either. I just hope Rupert gets sent home first, I can't stand him at all.

I kind of like Laura (from Samoa) in terms of how she looks. Plus she's a natural leader (so will probably get targeted to be voted out ASAP)

Candice's husband's chest and torso are where my eyes are gonna be for the rest of this lame season.

Absolutely! He is gorgeous! I hope someone burns all of his shirts, so he has to spend every second of his time on the island barechested. Vytas and Aras are pretty hot to me, too.

That's Harry Potter's Emma Watson trying to be taken more seriously as an actress by playing one of the troubled teens who robbed Paris Hilton in Sophia Coppola's The Bling Ring (she's still not much of an actress, but at least she's going about her public coming-of-age better than Miley Cyrus).

I wish Tadhana had voted out Katie or Ciera because that would unnerve Tina and Laura. We know Gervase isn't in it to win it so Marissa's banishment to Redemption Island has little to no emotional effect.

I wasn't bored during the premiere but I wasn't thrilled either. The show has become routine. I've given up on any season ever being groundbreaking and just watch out of habit.

And, yep, Colton threatened Kat (subtitles shown). And ;) @ 'Caleb Colton'.

Aras looks hot. A little like Peter Krause (I think).

Wait, Aras was the winner of Survivor Panama? I don't even remember this guy as a contestant, let alone a winner. And I have never missed a single episode of Survivor ever since it began. I vaguely remember Survivor Panama, but not Aras. I guess with 27 seasons everything is becoming a blur to me. #-o

Aras was the wingman to the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Cirie Fields (Who is arguably the best player to ever play this game. I know she hasn't won but sometimes you play all your cards right and you still come up short). Anyway Aras looked pretty cute back then http://cdn.sheknows.com/filter/l/gallery/top_10_hottest_male_survivors_aras_baskauskas.jpg

After winning he founded some sort of hat company, presumably lost regard for personal hygiene and grew a crazed mountain man beard. Seems like he's back to looking on the cuter side now.

There isn't much to remember about Aras, he rode Cirie to the end then got her out at just the right time.

Seems to be a theme in a lot of seasons, the big figure being ridden and booted out at just the right time. Cirie in Panama, Ozzy in South Pacific, Malcolm in the Philippines :P

There wasn't very much to ride on Ozzy since he was on Redemption Island for most of his South Pacific game. And Aras actually did not get Cirie out - he and Cirie voted for Danielle in the final four, while Danielle and Terry voted for Cirie. Danielle beat Cirie in the firemaking challenge, revealing Cirie's single flaw in this game: she can't win the final challenge to save herself.

Exile Island for some reason seemed to be not too remembered other than Cirie, because Danielle was greeted with an equally "Who??" reception when she came back for Heroes vs. Villains. Which is a shame because Casaya was possibly the greatest clusterfuck tribe of all time, and unlike most clusterfuck tribes they were the ones who dominated the game. At least they haven't brought back Terry yet though.

Incorrect. Aras and Cirie played together, with Cirie calling the shots and comign up with the brilliant strategies in a pinch. It was the season blowhard Terry won almost every individual immunity challenge. Aras and Cirie correctly reasoned that with Terry off the table for votes their allies would turn on A) the biggest physical threat available (Aras) and B) the biggest jruy threat (Cirie). So they allowed their allies to think they were working with them to target others and then they lopped them off one after the next. When teh time came for the final four vote both Aras and Cirie voted to send Danielle home leading to a 2-2 tie. Cirie lost the tiebreaker leaving Aras in a position of what looked like a certain 3rd place finish, but Aras managed to pull out the final Immunity send Terry packing and land a satisfying victory.

It was easily one of my favorite seasons, largely because the dominant alliance of Aras, Cirie, Danielle, Courtney, and Shane contained five competent, likable, entertaining individuals all playing to their own end and making wise decisions with information available to them.

Didn't Danielle win the final immunity and took Aras over Terry? I could be wrong but I seem to remember Terry's insufferable ass struggling and falling all over some kind of floating platform (because really Terry was only good at comps involving brute strength, of which there had been too many that season) and Danielle pulling out a WTF win.

Danielle DID win the final challenge. I remember silly fans throwing a bitch fit that the final immunity challenge was balance-based with the final three having to stand on tiny lilly pads and people were SO mad that for once it was a final challenge that favored a woman. In fact Probst's entire justification for Danielle being a Villain on HVV was that she won that challenge and voted out Terry.
