Survivor 27: Blood vs. Water

Delayed thoughts on yesterdays episode. I will certainly miss looking at John. I think it would be rather amusing to watch Candice and him hold exile while the others just rotate out. If that happens it will likely keep him long enough for me to continue to enjoy his chest. I fear he may sacrifice himself for Candice though. Also John should've used those hints Candice gave him to solve a solid sub three alliance (Maybe Hayden and Caleb?) in his Alliance of Five instead of just deferring to alpha Brad.

Ceira and Katie seem smarter than average cannon fodder but they proved to lack some serious ability. They should've really alerted John to the plan to get rid of him and tell him to get on digging up that idol like his life depended on it. Then they could've easily removed Brad. Hayden was quietly reminding me that he does have some strategy beneath that stupid hair of his. I like him more here than in BB even if his strategy thus far is EXACTLY THE SAME.

Still can't get a super strong handle on the strategy on the returnees side. I'm still convinced there were some pretty solid pre-game agreements made before anyone hit the beach. Don't know what that means in relation to the agreement Aras, Tina, Monica, and... I want to say two other people? made last week.

Glad Colton is gone. Think that bumped up Caleb's shelf life notably.

All strategy is going to go wonky at the merge. I'm pretty convinced and entertained to my satisfaction so far.

It would have been a better move to vote out Culpepper. He is overbearing and has an ego that is larger than the sums of Survivor totals. Plus I can't stand his smirky smile. John was great eye candy and hopefully will be back.

Actually no. For the girls maybe. If they exposed that ALL the boys were willing to turn on John they would've made an ally out of him and made the remaining three boys feel threatened enough to focus on John and not keep picking off ladies.

For the guys it's better for them to have a surly unlikable figure at the head of an alliance that will inevitably fracture is perfect for Hayden, Caleb and Vytas. When their backs are against the wall they'll have Brad to boot easily. And if they encounter outside forces come out them Brad will also be the focal point of that attack. Their best move was let Brad think he is in charge and secretly assemble a final three. It certainly was edited to make it seem like that what was happening in an unspoken way.

INcorrect. Aras was Gorgeous then. And he's gorgeous now. This whole season is just A+ on visuals.

I thought Aras was hot on EI but some age and cleaning up has elevated his sexiness. He reminds me sometimes of a Peter Krause/Bill Paxton hybrid.

It's the use of the full name that really sells it. Like she could've just stopped at "Fuck you, Brad," but I love that she went the extra mile. Characters that go by full names are just so much more fun like Jordan Catalano or Anne Perkins.

Jeff's hard-on to call Brad just "Culpepper" is so stupid considering there's another fucking Culpepper on the season. Thank you Marissa for getting it right.

I know she keeps coming in 2nd to Candice but PLEASE GOD let Marissa be the one to come back from Redemption Island (extra awesome bonus points if she eliminates Brad Culpepper along the way) and rejoin her uncle who hopefully is paving the way on his boring tribe to help her if she joins them.

Just more pretentiousness from Colton. If his chess playing is as bad as his Survivor playing, he would always quit, in tears no less, when his opponent makes their first move he didn't like.

And what does this say about Caleb? What type of guy would find any characteristic to be attracted to in Colton? Unless this was a new side of Colton he never seen before; but I'm guessing not.

Ugh Redemption is going to be so painful next episode. The three there right now have been the stars of the season so far. All three to return and replace Brad's alliance, please.

Yeah, I like all three of them, I will hate to see one of them having to go. Although Candice is still my most favored to win.

I think we might be seeing Marissa go. I might be putting too much credit to John because of his body. A lot of the endurance have more to do with finesse and might even favor someone slimmer and agile but I don't see Candice dropping the ball and I just think that John can beat Marissa.

That's what I'm afraid of too and it sucks because -- as has been said before -- these are the three I like the most. Probably the only hope for Marissa is if John or Candice quit/throw the challenge, to guarantee the other one won't be eliminated but of course it makes more sense for them to both beat Marissa and then have a 2 in 3 shot each week of one of them surviving. I guess if I had to lose one of them, I'd rather lose Candice but my god, how is it even possible that the THREE PEOPLE I'm rooting for right now all end up on Redemption Island? Like really what are the odds of that happening?? (echoing falconfan's incredulity when Nick, Elissa and Helen were on the block Week 2 of BB15).

Yep, if I were J & C, that would be my game plan. I'd even try to unravel the 3rd wheel emotionally during down time @ RI.

Colton's after interview - “Survivor is a game of chess, and sometimes you have to make big moves in order to protect your king. And sometimes… you have to sacrifice the queen early.”

Such bullshit. How is that a big move and how would you quitting protect Caleb?

Statistically, he just cut their chance of winning a million dollars in half.
Strategically, he may have a point since he's obviously incapable of playing a winning social game.

Huh. Who would have thunk? The boyfriend of the most pitiful Survival player in history makes his own history on the show with a big bold move at tribal. Color me impressed.
