Survivor 27: Blood vs. Water

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think it was in Monica's best interest to go with Hayden and Ciera (not with Laura M likely returning), but I was just hoping she didn't know that. Ciera is BY FAR my favorite of the season and even if she doesn't make it to the end, I was cheering when she and her mom won both challenges.

I fear that Hayden would have a good chance of winning a Hayden/Ciera/Monica or Laura final three so I'm kind of glad we avoided that, even though Tyson winning is probably even worse.

Has there been a season that has fallen apart faster in the post-merge than this one? The pre-merge had all of the family relationships coming into play, and Marissa and Candice rocking Redemption Island, Monica and Brad vs. everyone else, Tyson and Hayden not existing, Ciera and Katie hilariously surviving every tribal council despite sucking at challenges, Laura B. being a hilariously socially inept mom, John's chest, Caleb (who?) leading the charge against Culpepper Culpepper, etc. Then in the post-merge we get Tyson's dreary idol shenanigans and slow march to the victory and me forcing to root for Hayden fucking Moss. UGH.

P.S. I did forget the post-merge hilarity of Laura leading Tina through all of the challenges at Redemption Island to bring on ~MOMINATION~. It's a shame for most of this season Redemption Island has delivered more than the players left in the actual game.

Well, the ideal scenario would be a Ciera/Laura/Monica final three where Laura stands up and tells everyone to vote for her daughter and since, nobody like Monica, that's exactly what they do. Why can't that happen instead?

Girl, this is how bad: I'd rather see boring ass Hayden become the first Big Brother/Survivor winner than see Tyson win.

I kept wondering why the women didn't even try to work together when they could've had a numbers advantage and all I can assume is that Monica was 1) too annoying for them to want to work with her long term or 2) too far up Tyson's ass to want to work with them long term.

Agreed but to be fair to Monica, Ciera was "far up Tyson's ass", too.

It's sad that Monica and Gervase can't see that voting out Tyson would be best for everybody (increase their chances tremendously). To be fair to them, a lot of late game players are blinded like this, hence the winner steam rolling all the way to the mill.

The morett family has a good chance of winning !!!

Tyson cant win anyway

Well, like I said, I don't think anything Monica can do right now would result in a winning game for her. As seen from this cut scene, she IS hoping for a bitter anti-Tyson jury and that's honestly her best bet at this point. Gervase however is delusional if he thinks the jury views him as Tyson's equal rather than his subordinate, and him yelling at everyone certainly isn't helping.

Yeah pretty much the ONLY consolation in Tyson winning will be watching deluded/annoying Gervase choke on a nice serving of reality. Would that his awesome niece had lasted this long instead.

If Monica was self-aware (and believed what Ciera told her), she could acknowledge to the jury that (while not intentional) she knows she got on their nerves with her over-strategizing and paranoia. That could be the basis of her jury speech and she could then quickly segue into why they shouldn't vote for Tyson and how she voted with her block but never treated them the way Tyson and Gervase did. She was able to be in the controlling alliance without demoralizing anyone (unlike Tyson & Gervase).

Tyson winning was predictable and blah, but the best part of the finale for me was Tyson giving Monica's gameplay more credit than Gervase (HA!) and Monica still getting one more vote than that fool.

"Have y'all never met a nice person?" That...was all kinds of awesome.

I wanted Monica to win so much during the final speeches. At least she got second.

So did I. And I really hated that they all chose to pull at that poor Monica's frayed nerves when fucking GERVASE was sitting right there, if they wanted to take their frustrations out on a truly useless blowhard. I'm also disappointed in Laura M for not giving Monica her vote (though it seemed she was really vacillating there while voting).

I grow more and more angry with Probst every reunion show.

I wanted Monica to win because I hated her less of the three. Stung when Ciera was voted out but she gave it a hell-of-a-try.

I despise Tyson almost as much as Colton. Well maybe as much.

I just had a hell of a time before this finale because I just got promoted and everyone keeps telling me that I'm too "nice" to be a retail manager, so when Monica was YELLING at the jury and wondering if they've ever met a nice person and a neat lady in their lives, I was fist pumping for her. I knew Tyson had this because the edit was anything but subtle about it, but I still turned to my boyfriend and said "I wish Monica could win right now. They better give her second place. They. BETTER."

So thoughts on the Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty theme? I know it's just another desperate gimmick to hide that they're in the Philippines for the fourth straight season, but at least the title isn't as eyerolling as "Blood vs. Water" and (despite them not acknowledging it in the tease) the cast is said to be all-newbies AND there are no spoilers.

I also really like the three-tribe layout because it makes it harder to ignore people. So I'm tentatively hopeful for BBB, I guess.

Are they keep Redemption Island? Because I've always hated it and the ONE THING it could've ever done for me (return Laura M to the game) it failed to do, so I have zero reason to hope it comes back.

Also: CONGRATS slip!

Thanks gurl. <3

I live for Laura Morett and her Russell Hantz-hating GILF existence but it was kind of hilarious that Tina came out of nowhere and beat her after she had only survived so long because Laura was walking her through every duel. Like, yeah, I would have preferred Laura to return for sure but I don't think it would have changed much. Monica's unwillingness to flip, ever, would have voted out whichever Morett didn't have immunity at F5 (Ciera if Laura had immunity and Laura if Tyson still won), and then the remaining Morett would have been in the same situation that Tina was in. Tyson winning those last two immunities was such a cock block.

Yeah but I mean...is it a guarantee that Tyson would've won those last two immunities with Laura in the game? I know the immunity challenges are different from the Redemption duels, but it's not like someone like Crystal Cox coming back* where you can say definitively it wouldn't affect the outcome of the immunity challenge. It was also pretty hilarious when Laura went "Tina let me have it" and I was like GURL PLEASE, this bitch didn't even want to give it up to keep her own daughter in the game!

*I hereby advocate they scrap Redemption and just have Crystal Cox come back every season around F5 or so.
