Survivor 29: San Juan del Sur (Blood vs. Water 2)

Again for Real World and the Challenge fans : Ryan Knight was found dead on Thanksgiving morning after being out partying the night before. I really didn't care for the guy but don't like anyone dying so young. RIP Knight.

As for Reed and Aiken, could we have some alka seltzer over here please. Yuk and Ugh!

What can I say? Clay Aiken lost American Idol to a person of color. I would like the same thing to happen to Reed on Survivor.

So I've read that next week's "two hour episode" is just two regular episodes aired back to back. This makes me think that we'll be saying goodbye to Reed and Alec next Wednesday; they tend to do weird things like double boot episodes or jamming two cycles into one night when they get two lesser-edited characters or two characters from the same alliance going out in a row.

The sooner Jon and Keith hit the road, though, the sooner I can breathe a sigh of relief that Natalie could actually WIN this season. Out of the eight left those are my top three winner suspects. Natalie's edit last episode was so good that I almost don't trust it, and I don't really trust the editors in general after the Cagayan ending.

Jon and Keith both have content that make them look good and like potential winners, but it's almost always slam cut next to content that makes them look stupid. "My dad is dying of brain cancer and my girlfriend has no uterus ;_;" -> "JON IS SUCH AN IDIOT FOR LEAVING THE CHALLENGE FIRST! He's so smug and on a power trip!!" Keith gets consistent airtime and is good in challenges and then we get content like "Keith is gross, spits all the time and hates women!" Uh... yay?

That was my first thought too about the 2 hour episode, but if they're just clearing deck, don't they usually just compress it and show two Tribal Councils in one hour? Why give us 2 full hours? And what's with the teaser about a Jon and Jaclyn fight that supposedly changes everything?

Yeah even though Natalie got a great edit, Jon has now gotten TWO hero edits. First, early in the season, the stuff about his dad having cancer. And now last night about staying with the woman he loves even though she can't have kids (which is hilarious because that would literally be a PLUS for me, not a demerit). That just SCREAMS winner to me. But the good news is...I've been wrong about what all these signs mean all season long.

I just have to believe Keith can't win. I JUST HAVE TO. Ugh. He's so disgusting as is his son. And I mean, spitting all the time is a villain trait right? RIGHT?

My rebuttal:

Also, I think jamming two cycles into a one-hour episode this year was a no-go because that one team dropped out before filming started. If that didn't happen we probably would have gotten the typical two double-boot episodes we tend to get in twenty person casts.

I love Natalie, but I gotta admit that was gross (saliva-phobia here). Though not as gross as Wes sucking up to Probst about his nude two and a Half Men performance.

I just took Natalie's spit as a LOL fail moment. Like Wes's brags of winning a chicken nugget eating contest.

Wes was someones favorite??? I can understand even Josh, but WES??! He left no mark on the game and no impression on me, save for the nagging suspicion that he probably smelled bad all the time.

That reward challenge was so frigging ridiculous and I am furious with Natalie for being so wishy washy. I expected as much from the others but not her. She let me down by not taking a stand.

How was she wishy washy? This week was the PERFECT week to take out Jon, but he won immunity. So instead, she took out Alec so that Natalie/Missy/Baylor/Keith would have the majority against Jon/Jaclyn. If she had booted Keith, it would've been harder to command the majority since Alec was obviously so infatuated with Jaclyn.

I'm interested to hear what slip thinks about tonight's edit. Once again I'm getting competing signals. On the one hand, we got the Jon's an arrogant wine-taster edit, but on the other hand, we got Jon: the Son of Cancer Part 2.

As for my prediction? I say Keith is totally going to win this season now. Or maybe I'm just jinxing Keith since everything I predicted this season in this thread turned out to be wrong.

The preview makes it look like Missy is eliminated next week because of a medical condition. If they are able to eliminate Jon, then I was going to say either Keith or Natalie will win, but then I remembered that the jury is mostly male, so I would say that Keith will win. If they cannot eliminate Jon, then Jon stands a good chance of winning.

This makes me think that we'll be saying goodbye to Reed and Alec next Wednesday

Wow, I nailed that one. I can only hope my prediction for the winner is so accurate and that Jon and Keith are just Natalie's doubt.

I think the tells are in how the edit props up Natalie versus how it shows Jon and Keith. Last episode was a huge tell with Jon's idol play being framed as something he wouldn't have done without Natalie speaking up; ditto with Keith blowing Reed's strategy with "Stick to the plan ;)" which was also highlighted in tonight's recap. They also don't shy away from other players calling Jon/Keith bad players/not playing, arrogant, disgusting, etc.

They could have made Natalie to look like a huge bitch with evil ominous music and sound cues for complaining about Jon when he was going on about how he learned wine-tasting from his dying father, etc., but her schemes were presented as neutrally as possible. They also give her the time to explain questionable decisions like flipping to vote out Alec, dropping out of the endurance challenge against Reed, etc.

Also, even Jaclyn has bitched about Jon's game multiple times now -- even without their blow-up tonight, back in Josh's boot episode she commented that Jon thinking so far in advance about the end-game was "stupid" -- and do I really buy the editors having the winner's own loved one slam his game as a good choice in a Blood vs. Water season? Hmm...

First of all I was talking about the reward challenge and not the whole show. I wrote my post as soon as that reward (non-competetive reward challenge) was over. It was completely bogus how that went down with them just giving Missy the reward. The rest of it I don't mind because Natalie is the only one there who I would want to win since Baylor and Missy are on my hate list. I know that their relationship was non-existent until this show and now Missy is all mother love.

You've been right about a LOT this season (whereas I've been completely wrong/as paranoid as Jon and Jaclyn) and I hope you're right up until the end too.

Sorry I misunderstood your post joesman. Actually I was more annoyed with Jaclyn after that reward. What a bitch!

I have nothing notable to mention, other than Jon looks much hotter now than when the season started. That is all.

Survivor One World Jay Byars is one of the final three contestants for " Price is Right" male model search contest.

Peter "Pete" Yurkowski from Survivor Philippines is one of the semi-finalists but he got eliminated.

Because Alec is a moron, I'm wondering if we can interpret his answer here as an unintentional spoiler that Natalie makes it to the end:

Question: "How important was Natalie's decision to vote you out of the game instead of Keith?"

Alec's Answer: "It changed the course of the game. If she didn't get me out, Jon and I were going to get her out."

Here's the interview.

OMG like what happened yall?! I'm superlovin Natalie now. That girl's AWESOME. She's gonna win it for sure. I hope she gets revenge on Jon.
