Premiere: September 24, 8 PM on CBS.
Players: 18 (it was meant to be 20 but one team dropped out just before filming started)
Redemption Island: No.
Exile Island: Yes.

CAST MEMBERS:
1-2. Jeremy and Val -- spouses

3-4. Missy and Baylor -- mother and daughter

5-6. Josh and Reed -- boyfriends (one is a Broadway actor)

7-8. Kelley and Dale -- father and daughter

9-10. Nadiya and Natalie (from The Amazing Race) -- twin sisters

The rest of the cast since there's a five video per post limit:
11-12. Drew and Alec -- brothers

13-14. Wes and Keith -- father and son

15-16. Jon and Jaclyn -- boyfriend/girlfriend

17-18. MLB Pitcher John Rocker and Julie -- boyfriend/girlfriend

Ewwwwww! John fucking Rocker? That dude is one of the biggest assholes in sports. A triple threat sexist/racist/homophobe from the early aughts. Goddamn you Mark Burnett and Jeff Probst for giving this guy a spotlight (and confirming my suspicions about the two of you). I hope he's the first one out.

Yes I was just about to post a link to all of the classy things he's said over the years. Here's a sample.

I'd be surprised if Mark Burnett has any input on this show anymore. Maybe I just want to blame Probst for everything and anything.

I think I will just scoot on by Survivor this time around after I notify CBS why I am scooting. I can't give that asswipe my time and I cannot give CBS and Survivor my time when they blatantly throw John Rockers at me. No! No! And Hell No!

Oh I'm convinced Probst is a homopobe (he may not think of himself that way and he may even be OK with gay marriage etc, but he's totally part of the "I like gay men you can't even tell are gay" tolerance crowd) but I wouldn't be surprised if Burnett is too. I mean...

Can we discuss how Reed is actually a year younger than his boyfriend despite looking 20+ years older? WTF?

Overall my feelings for this season are very tepid so far. A lot of the cast is bland and I didn't care for the Blood vs. Water twist the first time.

Yikes! Those horrible twins from "The Amazing Race"? I cannot stand those silly twats.

I didn't see the Twinnies' seasons of TAR but they seem fun in their cast video and are two of the few cast members that have potential based on the pre-show material. "If they know us from the Race, they'll know that together we're strong!" "And they'll also see that together, we're a hot mess!" <3

Loving the bros already! (even though I've never watched The Amazing Race so I have no preknowledge of them) Oh and JoshReed, Wes and Jon.

Can't wait for this season to start!!

I'm considering skipping this.

Before having opened this thread, I didn't even look at any press information about the brand-new Survivor.

Also: I'm tired of rightwing stains being shoved down our throats by the broadcast networks wherever they can. (As if those Sunday-morning roundtables cannot be enough.) Survivor did this shit before, with Survivor: Philippines, with the casting of San Francisco Giants' 2002 pennant winning team member Jeff Kent. (Philippines aired in Fall 2012 and was won by one of the best players in the show's history—Denise Stapley.)

What I Like: No Redemption Island

What I REALLY Like: Exile Island (hopefully this means no more hiding idols in plain sight)

What I Don't Like: Everything else about this season.

I may watch this, although John Rocker is a SERIOUS negative.

This cast is a huge collective dud and I'm still not excited for this season. I hope they prove me wrong but I'm getting zero entertainment potential so far from the vast majority of the players.

A gay couple, Yay!
Is it wrong of me to wish Drew and Alec were a gay couple?
John fucking Rocker?! Are you kidding me? [-X
Why doesn't CBS just cast a neo-nazi? wtf

I may watch this, although John Rocker is a SERIOUS negative.

Survivor deliberately did that with the casting of racist, rightwing, former MLB pitcher John Rocker. And those watching this new edition will find out if the series once again creates another narrative [specifically for Rocker; or anyone else], to prop him up, as it has been doing with some select male players like [Survivor: Cagayan winner Tony Vlachos].

I'm at a point, now, that if CBS were to announce Survivor will be coming to an end…I wouldn't be too upset. It might take some getting use to; but I'd manage. This show has gotten really old.

Well, they do have a gay couple in the cast so I guess they wanted to balance it out with an anti-gay dickhead. The plus side is there are no Hantz's and I'm guessing this is an all newbie cast? I haven't been a loyal follower of this series over the past few years. Like Big Brother the formula has gotten very old after seeing so many seasons. Survivor being twice a year really burned me out quicker than BB has.

I'll watch anyway because BB will be over and there's no more True Blood or Chelsea Lately or Fashion Police now. :(

I like the gay couple and Drew and Alec.

Drew and Alec are very hot.
