Survivor Edge of Extinction

I absolutely LOVE Rick's move!!! And the comment he had! OMG!!!

- - - Updated - - -

From the females I liked Aurora from the start but now she's not really my likeable one. Going into Rick's bag like that.

Ew. Surely he'd be the inarguable worst winner of all time considering he was already the fourth voted out of his season, no?

Based on the editing, who could beat him? They've spent almost NO time on the new players. Maybe Gavin or Lauren? I feel like the only person editing suggests could beat Rick is a returnee from Extinction but that wouldn't be much of an upgrade for the same reason you outlined.

I know I've bemoaned this point over and over but it's really worth considering how far this show has strayed from its original concept. Now not only is it possible for someone to get to the end BY DOING NOTHING BUT WIN COMPETITIONS but it's almost impossible to get rid of all the comp beasts in the game.

Think about it. In addition to immunity challenges each round, they added multiple idols and other twists, they moved up the finish line from F2 to F3, they've given a comp beast TWO challenge opportunities now at F4, and this season they let you win your way back into the game MULTIPLE times even if you've already been voted out and for all we know this could become a permanent feature of the game.

Yeah I mean, it's kind of sad that Big Brother has more respectability than Survivor does at this point. For all her rigging and pandering to America, Grod at least generally hasn't changed the rules of the show on her whims to let challenge beasts win their way to the end.

God I never thought I'd say something positive about the Grodner and Big Brother but...yes.

Even her stupid twists (which usually fizzle out by the time they start filling the jury) and the F3/live jury voting finale format (which I hate) haven't fundamentally changed the game.

On a positive note about this season, here's Reem leaving Wardog even more bald than he was.

I want Reem commenting on every Survivor season and delivering the evening news.

Sgt Pepper boo can we groan in unison together that the winner of this season will be somebody who Facebook casuals want to win and think is the only one who "deserves" it because he digs for immunity idols, has no allies, has only voted correctly maybe twice all season and was already VOTED OUT FOURTH????

You know I'm right there with you. I can't stop watching the show but I am so demoralized by what it has become. At some point, I assume players will realize they need to just eliminate all the comp threats/people who can find idols early and then what? Will the show move F3 up to F5? Will they start having individual immunity challenges even on separate tribes? I fear there's no end to this madness.

Rick Devens winning should only be cheered by one person: Ben Driebergen, who can then become only the second worst winner of all time.

I would like to think a cast of self-proclaimed "superfans" (who were smart enough to play around Rick's bluster in last week's vote) are wise to the fact that one guy keeps miraculously finding idols/advantages but obviously the show isn't going to edit in that footage unless it's in a more generic/disgruntled "XXX gets EVERYTHING!!!" type of moment. And it's impossible to actually follow somebody 24/7 on Survivor because they (whether the benefactor of the riggage or that player's opponents) get called away to do the interviews.

Honey I'm just glad your...peculiar taste in men doesn't extend to this clapping seal.

The wonders of going through existential crises after losing 85 pounds and determining you're demisexual and non-binary extend to no longer finding random talking heads on reality shows sexually desirable... or something.

@BetinaNungging: I am SO ready to move on from this season. But does anyone know if Extinction was a one-time thing like Redemption Island or are they making it a permanent feature of the game?

(*8*)

The rumors I've heard so far about S39 and S40 are that S39 is supposed to be a 20 player season (and it's not confirmed but I wouldn't expect Edge of Extinction to return based on that cast size, this season was 18 players because of the two "returns") with Boston Rob and Sandra as non-playing "advisers" for the actual contestants. And then S40 is finally going to be All Winners.

It does seem that every season there is the lucky charm of a guy who is idol friendly (finds all the idols and gets all the advantages, either from someone else or wrapped and placed right where he would look. ) Rick is the one this season, and it seems to me that the person Survivor picks to be the lucky charm is always the player I dislike the most. Rick is that guy.

RICK DEVENS FUCKING LOST THE FIRE MAKING CHALLENGE BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't even care who wins now because 1) what even is this F3 edit and 2) the turd has been flushed.

And god it's so satisfying that Rick, who was only still in the game because of a twist, ultimately got taken out by a twist. Voted out 4th and then lost at the F4. Oh the absolutely deeeeeeelicious symmetry.

Also after giving up immunity just so he could take out Rick AND THEN ACTUALLY TAKING OUT RICK, Chris can win the game, do me raw, anything he wants.
