Survivor - Fans vs. Favorites

(*8*)
^Really second place gets $100,000? I never knew. I thought the player of the season, voted by viewers gets the $100,000. Like how Lisa got it last season.

I'm sure CBS has enough money to give $100,000 prizes to more than one player. Yes historically the runner up did get that much. But I am not certain if that has still been the case in recent seasons.

I seem to remember on the reunion show, because one member of the jury did vote for Philip (the rest all voted for Rob), Jeff commented that the vote meant Philip would win $ 100,000.00.

Yeah, $100k has been the runner-up prize since day one, and that hasn't changed.

What I can't recall right now is what happens in the event of a tie, like how Skupin and Lisa were tied for second last season. I *think* Cassandra and Dreamz both got $100k in Fiji so they probably gave Mike and Lisa the same amount.

I've always "known" the runner-up on Survivor got $100,000 because that's what everyone has been saying online for as long as I can remember, but it's odd how Jeff never acknowledges that on the show. For example on Big Brother, Julie Chen always tells the final HOH winner that they are "guaranteed at least $50,000 and a shot at the half-million" and on the live finale, she always announces that the runner-up still gets $50,000. Whereas Jeff only tells the final Immunity winner that they are "guaranteed a spot at the last tribal council and a shot at a million dollars" and on the live finale, he never says what the runner-up gets.

Cool, now I don't feel so bad for my favorite Survivor runner up, Amanda.

I know he's said it in some of the earlier seasons, particularly at Borneo's FTC because it was the first season... but yeah, not so much anymore.

ETA: Colleen is still hilarious after all these years. "Maybe this will make you... be nice... or something. Okay, that's it!"

sometimes hes mentions the prize, i remember in pearl islands, he told lill that brining sandra to the final tribal council was a 900,000 thousand dollar mistake, as no one would have voted for fairplay in the finale, even against lill, thats the only time i remember him saying something,

and yes in the event of a tie they both get the runner up prize, so lisa walked away with 200,000 dollars last season, and mike walked away with just 100,000.

also just for some fun facts, when you go out to play any game like survivor or big brother you get a stipend, its basically a small check to help you cover expenses when you get home, and also compensation for your part in the game. for all stars season 8, Tina the first person voted out got 25,000, thats how they got most of the cast cause they said that you woudl get 25 thousand just for showing up.

in a normal season, ive read that first person voted out gets about 2,500, pretty good pay for only being out there for 3 days and then you spend the rest of the time at a pre jury ponderosa.

I have to admit, I laughed heartily when Corinne rated Phillip on an annoying scale of one to "being next to a crying baby on an airplane."

lol i did too, im glad were starting to see some corinne sass, im glad that brandon is gone so that we can see some actual game play its not so focused of them.

the gota(orange tribe) is stacked and i think they will win till merge. which i think will be at 12, they seem to love doing that, although i would like a merge at 10 just to get some interesting dynamics.

i felt bad for matt, he seemed like a nice guy and i wanted to see him an mikes relationship further, but like corinne said "this vote wont be fair, because i like all of these people" and survivor definatly aint fair lol

Yeah but you know what Corinne? If I had a chance to vote that crying baby off the plane, I totally would. She had a PRIME opportunity this week to strike first by marshaling the three faves to take out Philip before he gets a chance to take her out instead and she...didn't even try for it. UGH. I bet you anything she's gonna rue that "He's not gonna flip on me" confessional very soon.

sad for matt, Corinne's downfall is her loyalty. She's been loyal in Gabon in she's still, but girl u gotta make some move if u wann go to the end. As of right now there's no chance for her with phil around to stay longer. And I still cannot understand why those people are okay to be phil's bitches and not wanting to vote him out.
I mean matt and michael didnt say anything when phil basically told em "Do what I say, and u'll be OK, if not, i make sur u go home".
they were OK, how can u be Ok to be that kind of slave especially to someone u dont respect.

anyway Gota is very stong and I hope Brenda can do sthg to win this game !!

unfortunatly survivor is alot of kiss ass, mike and matt didnt want to be phillips slave but when your in the minority you just nod your head and say yes if it means you can stay longer.

also i think everyone knows that phil isnt great at challenges, and he is always the perfect jury goat i wouldnt be surprised if he made the finals again only to lose.

And I still cannot understand why those people are okay to be phil's bitches and not wanting to vote him out.

Probably the same reason the people on Samoa and HvV put up with Russell's bullshit. Because they know if they go to the end with him, he's not getting a single jury vote. That's why it's always hilarious to me when Russell (and his fans) boasts that he made it to the end twice. Like...yeah, you were a goat to the people who knew they could beat you, and they did (resoundingly).

I totally agree with you, however, I think with this season Phillip has a chance to scrape up at least a few votes. And depending on who the other two people are sitting beside him, I think he'll have a decent chance. I say this because up until last week he was totally owning the Favorites tribe. Although everyone says yeah we're just listening to him to appease him the fact remains that they are listening to what he's saying and he's calling the shots.

Cochran described the new Gota tribe as "the bold and the beautiful." With Malcolm, Eddie, Reynold, Brenda & Andrea on the team...I have to agree. This new team has strength and beauty.

Last week's Brandon meltdown has got to be one of the most entertaining episode ever in Survivor history.

This week, they switch tribe...

it's kinda a bit unfair since new Gota tribe is such a powerhouse...they got all the strongest people in the tribe.

I got a feeling Corrine will soon be voted off.... due to her huge amount of screentime and confessionals

Considering I didn't care for either of them during their original seasons, I'm pleasantly surprised that Corinne and Cochran are giving me everything I need in their voice-overs.

Philip? Still a delusional tool.

this season could have been good, but the editing is really horrible as it only seems to focus on phillp and before he left, brandon, i feel like just now people are getting air time because brandon finally left.

now that they are merging i think they will all get rid of phillp, because i think everyone will see him as the easy target for a first round of vote off.

God this was yet ANOTHER wasted opportunity by Corinne to take out Philip before he does it to her. When the Favorites were planning to split the vote between Michael and Julia, all she had to do was play along and then get Julia and Michael on board to vote out Philip. That would've resulted in a classic 3-2-1 with Philip getting the boot. Cirie would've done that shit without even blinking. But Corinne just fails to see the danger she's in despite all the warning signs.

Brenda celebrating on that tower while her team did all the work in the reward challenge was adorable/awesome.

Cirie was so badass I miss her sometimes =( I really wish Cirie, Amanda, and Parvati all made it to the merge on HvV. They would have ended up running that show again.
