Survivor Samoa

Were you with us for Survivor Gabon? Forgive me if you were and I don't remember, but it seems we would have agreed a lot.

I was still in lurking mode during Gabon (BB11 is when I started posting), but I agreed with the general anti-Onion alliance consensus. Even though she wasn't trying to win the game for herself, my personal favorite was Sugar, and I loved her conspiring with Bob to humiliate Randy in Randy's boot episode.

Although, out of the final three, I thought that Susie deserved to win the most. She always provided unexpectedly hilarious moments like being the deciding vote to boot Marcus and then winning the first individual immunity challenge after Corinne had just been bitching about how much Susie sucked. Crystal, of course, got massive love from me as well. Forgetchu, go home, goodBYE! <3

Tocantins really made me miss Gabon. Gabon got ruined toward the end because of Sugar trying to sabotage all of the actual players so that Bob could win, but Tocantins never even really got started. If only that cross-tribal alliance had worked - Taj was my overall favorite (the most memorable moment of the season was her winning that reward challenge to see her husband, IMO) and I liked Brendan, Stephen and Sierra too.

And now we have Samoa, and I still have no real favorites after three weeks.

It's called a russell seed ???

This season is not so exciting.. BRING BACK TOCANTINS !!!! lool Some players are so invisble !!

The positive thing: Thank god Ben is out of this game, he was so annoying, ignorant, and racist. I like Jaison, he spoke his mind and thats a good thing, I like all of his comments during TC.

I am totally thinking it was a smart move from Natalie (don't know if she did it on purpose) to not answer Russell's question about betsy leaving. With this guy still in the game, I think the best move is to let him think you are a dumbass, and then blindside him. Hopefully someone will do that soon.

Right now Galu is high !! really high !!! are they going to keep up the good work or crumble in the next episodes ?? time will tell. But for sure, not a good thing Rusell took comfort over function, I'm thinking it was more a strategic move than anything else. He knew he could ally with the women by offering them their comfort, but I dont think thats the best strategy right now, and that makes his tribe look like "oh we're doing Yoga, we want pillows, and we're running this game, and I'm proud of you"

I'm not so excited with Laura as you guys are... but I have to admit I laughed during the challenge when she splashed Ashley it was almost like she was sayin "take that bitch !!" LOL

My girl Kelly during the challenge did well, but we almost never see her during the show

I loved john's line "How come 3 towels & 4 pillows gonna make u comfy ? u still gonna be imcomfortable"

And what do I think about Russell ??

Well the term "ghetto" is not a racist word
LOL. Actually, its origin is quite racist, and it always refers to an oppressed or underprivileged group. Here's what an etymological dictionary says about ghetto:
ghetto 1611, from It. ghetto "part of a city to which Jews are restricted," various theories of its origin include: Yiddish get "deed of separation;" special use of Venetian getto "foundry" (there was one near the site of that city's ghetto in 1516); Egitto "Egypt," from L. Aegyptus (presumably in memory of the exile); or It. borghetto "small section of a town" (dim. of borgo, of Gmc. origin, see borough). Extended 1892 to crowded urban quarters of other minority groups.

Is it at all possible that Russell's Immunity Idol is not the right idol for him but belongs to GALU and the idol at Galu belongs to FOA FOA?

The idol was definitely intended for the people from Galu who were sent to Foa Foa (i.e., Yasmin and Shambo, so far). However, if I remember correctly, there's never been any precedent for what could happen if a castaway found an idol that was meant for the other tribe. And, of course, this all is not counting the theory that production flat-out told Russell where to find the idol anyway.

So I missed it Thursday and just saw the latest episode. IN related news I LOVE JAISON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My God I love his stubborn ass so much that I'm willing to overlook the blatant lies both in Probst recaps and in last weeks promos. He is quite possibly the most eloquent and intelligent cast-off that's ever been on this show. After hearing his calm and spot on racial commentary on a reality show I wonder if he secretly posts to this board. (I'm looking at you Zinger... :P ) Not to mention he's handsome and seems to be a genuinely nice guy. Jaison single handedly destroyed uber-douchebag by cockblocking Russel's advances on Mick. It bothers me that none of these people have a problem with Russel yet and that as Russel rightfully observed they're really NOT playing a social game. Mick and Jaison seem tight though, I can appreciate that. I like Liz I think... maybe? She seems in Russel's pocket as she's the only one who hasn't expressed a desire to get rid of him yet but I enjoy her personality. Time will tell.

I wasn't thrilled wiht Galu Russel's chauvanist attitude or Erik's gut. Also not thrilled with ONE challenge an episode wtf!? Shambo's been amusing me still. Don't love her. Don't hate her. But I'm gettin' kinda endeared to her craziness.

This Russell H. and Shambo show is getting pretty old.

Agreed. They need to stop featuring Russel so heavily and making ALL the episodes about him. Even this episode that was clearly about Ben was beign promoted as being all about Russel when his fat ass failed to accomplish a damn thing this episode seeing as for one week he didn't focus on an easy target.

A) the mick picture.....yummy

B) Tried watching survivor this season, since I have not since probably Africa and I am barely making it past episode 3. Russel combined with all these people obviously casted from talent agencies this show is COMPLETELY different from what I remember it by.

You're not alone. Survivor is hemorrhaging viewers this season. Likely because of this heavy Russel promoting and their inability to differentiate between a tolerable villain to root against and a jackass people don't want to hear from every five minutes.

They probably do. I bet the show is editing them to look so clueless in order to make Russell look more like a mastermind. As a huge fan of Big Brother, I'm very skeptical about the editing on shows like this.

Very good point. You never see the full story in edited shows but you onyl have what you see to go off of.

Exactly. While it's true that one could reasonably deduce that an idol would be hidden at camp, it is WAY TOO CONVENIENT that Russell found it that way. It could have been anywhere, including buried along the beach, he didn't even have any reason to believe it was in a tree! I'm sorry, I think it's really naive to not suspect production interference on that one. The fact that they clearly want him to appear as a sneaky villainous mastermind also indicates to me that they probably tipped him off.

I'm calling shenanigans. I highly doubt everyone would be so persistent in this assumption, and that's what it is, if Jaison or Mick found the idol. We don't want him to succeed. We want anything he does to be a lack of skill or tainted by production btu you can't compare his ability to find an idol around camp by CONSTANTLY looking around camp to people who were there for about twenty four hours and didn't spend most the time looking for it. If you remember Jaison made fun of the improbability of him finding it and Russels insistent search. If you look hard enough and it's around camp you're gonna find it. Had it been buried or else where than they would've just edited that segment in a coachesque light. No one's even been gunning for him. There's no reason the producers would've had at that point to hitn towards the idol's location. And DESPITE what teh opening incorrectly states Gary DID find the idol with no clues in Guatemala in the matter of one (maybe two) episodes.

Really? I thought the tree she was looking in was the exact tree in which Russell found it.

I thought so too but it's hard to tell. What I found odd was that the clue said "by the fire" Did production ASSIGN fire pits this season?

I think Ben is the gay token this season pity he got voted out URG!!!! and why do ppl think he's a racist!?!?

Ben was not gay. And if you tell a black person to "go sit on their stoop and drink Kool Aide" I don't know how you could be basing that in anything OTHER than racially motivated comments. Unless of course you believe that in there precious time together between 'I'm gonna teach you to win' and 'I hate you' Yasmin professed a deep love for stoop sitting and Kool Aide that just never made the air.

You could see Mick and Liz cringing each time he said something with a racial connotation.

No dear, I would say it's suspicious if anyone (even someone I liked) -- especially if they were heavily featured in the first episode -- found the idol with no clues and no hints. I'm sorry but while I agree with you that it's reasonable to deduce it could be at camp, it is not reasonable to think that a person would be able to find it while intentionally looking for it, without knowing if it was buried along the beach, or in a tree, or under a rock...and to find the correct tree at that? Did he look inside every single tree?? It's absurd and so highly unlikely, that it's actually more reasonable to suspect production tampering.

Why would he need to look in "every tree" if it was in the one RIGHT NEXT TO THE DAMN FIRE. I mean it's in the middle of the damn camp. It doesn't take days to check the what 20 trees that are actually IN the camp area.

Let me remind you that on BB7 when almost every single HOH comp involved trivia, I had no problem saying that production did that to give Janelle a better chance of winning (since Trivia was her thing and she didn't really have any skills in any other area). And she was one of my favorites.

Point well taken. I do however think it's easier to admit flaws in our allies than give credit to our enemies.

I'd say he's tied with Yul, who was also very intelligent and eloquent, and had wonderful progressive views on race and minority media representation (which he articulated excellently in his speech to the jury) but given how awesome Jaison's speech was -- and how badly I needed someone to finally say it on reality TV -- I don't mind you giving Jaison the sole appellation.

Well that's because you have a hard on for Yul I just don't have. I didn't find him to be nearly as articulate there was just something very calculated and mathematical in the way he spoke if I remember correctly, which I may not but then... that's kinda the point isn't it.

After hearing his calm and spot on racial commentary on a reality show I wonder if he secretly posts to this board. (I'm looking at you Zinger... :P )
No, Jaison is much prettier than I am. Look, my avatar is an ass for God's sake! ;)
Survivor is your grandma's reality show
Ha! What do you mean? Survivor is the bees' knees, the cat's meow, a Coolidge dollar; only the keenest of the hep cats watch.
You could see Mick and Liz cringing each time he said something with a racial connotation.
Mick is great, but I don't really get Liz. She was all for keeping Ben over Betsy last week (did she really think Ben's, uh, 'regressive' views were restricted to Yasmine?), and this week she enthusiastically agreed with Shambo's ridiculous anti-yoga tirade.
but given how awesome Jaison's speech was -- and how badly I needed someone to finally say it on reality TV
The list of things I want someone to finally say on reality tv is extensive, starting with "this Real World house really sucks."

I have a hard time listening to Richard for some reason. His cadence is weird, and he says a few words oddly. Recalling his Katrina tall-tale, I'm starting to think he's trying to affect a creole accent.

Ive read that you guys like Mick.. I dont know about him.
I want to like him, and think he's tight with jaison, But I do not see him as a real threat.

His comments about being trustworthy and stuff, I think thats BS in a game like this. But we'll see...

I liked Natalie in the last ep.

1. "Not so tough now are ya' when you're faced with someone your own size?" was what I thought of Jaison and Ben's altercation. Dude was practically cowering behind that girl (still don't remember her name, might have been Lizie or Sheniqua, no thanks to the producers' part) when Jaison was calling him out.

2. Plus I said it before- Russell ISN'T that much in control of the game as he think he is. This episode just served to prove my point.

3. I love the Mick-dreamy name, how aptly coined. :D

4. This week, I'm switching my TV crush to this guy, again, I don't remember his name- might have been John or Luigiamo, again, no thanks to the producers' part.

Attitude stinks, yes, but oh, so dreamy eyes.

5. Plus, talking about shambo being gay, don't these two look more suspicious? Ming Lee and Selena (no, I don't really know their names) were caressing each other, hand at the small of her lovers' back, stroking ever so gently as they stared, lost in each others' gaze...

Also I heard on E! news (yes, I watch those) that the producers of Survivor made an announcement somewhere along the line of, 'despite the Tsunami which occured in Samoa, our crews and casts were unharmed in the incident'.

I thought shooting for this season wrapped months ago? how come they are still casts and crews in Samoa at this point?
