Survivor Samoa

It's a little dumb that Galu Russell picked comfort to please the women in the last episode and then his tribe lost the challenge and he immediately turned around and targeted a woman. What was the point of picking the comfort then, genius?
I haven't been all that impressed with Galu Russell. First, last week the whole "comfort for the ladies" nonsense was icky. This week, he was oh so very offended that people had the audacity, the gall, the temerity to disagree with him, the team leader. Well, as team leader, the responsibility for the loss ultimately rested with him, since he chose Monica to be one of the competitors.

I don't think it was that crazy of Shambo to be surprised that the chickens could fly. I was under the impression that today's chickens have been selectively bred to the point that they don't do anything but sit around and lay eggs (or get fat for the slaughter, or whatever).
Mick and Jaison remain the sexiest guys on this season.
Indeed.

So we finally see the Galu tribe. I couldnt recognize half of them for the life of me. I expected them to be the "Kumbaya" tribe but surprisingly the tribe is full of some unpleasant and ornery bastards. Monica absolutely sucked on that challenge and they got rid of Yaz. Prolly not the best idea. SOmething tells me they will quickly start to lose consecutive challenges.

Well it's nice to see Galu go to tribal for a change though the episode seemed kind of uneventful. I don't know who planned that unsupervised reward challenge but I can only assume the answer is no one. I mean who decided watching a ten minute game of Bacci Ball was entertaining? And moreover who decided not having production their to instruct them was going to add any entertainment value.

In the end I was glad to see Yasmin go. Her crazy ass was a ticking timebomb. Monica might've sucked up one challenge but seeing as Galu's so far ahead I wouldn't worry about that yet. Besides Monica has more potential to make it further in the game.

Eric I have mixed feeligns about. He's just offputting. Strategically I geuss he's doing a sound job of straddling the apparent sides and he's got Shambo to give him the clues to the idol (which she just handed him rather than looking for it herself.... crazy ass).

Either way we moved no closer to getting rid of Russel and to the contrary he seems to sadly be sunken pretty deep into the tribal make up.

The editing on this show is so predictable... Galu gets screentime for the first time ever and, what a surprise, they lost the immunity challenge! But at least we know some of these people exist now. I kind of like Erik, whom I remembered because he wore that incredibly small black bathing suit in the previous episodes, so him getting the hidden idol is fine with me.

Yasmin and her heels at tribal council... bitch is crazy, but I liked her. Kind of a shame that she got booted because she was one of the more interesting people on Galu so far.

You're into Erik? Really? I'm disappointed in him. I thought he'd be jacked and he just isn't. I totally agree that Galu Russel's power tripping was ridiculous. Should he have had an actual alliance with a reliable person than you try to save them for numbers sake but being so TEAM MUST WIN is really short sighted. He needs to be trying to integrate with the younger crowd so when the team moves to the later stages he has some relationships to work. I mean unless he plans on pulling a Shambo and hopping sides but there's been no real indication of that so I can only assume he's looking at the game in a one dimensional way.

Meh. Another boring episode where I didn't really care that much about anything that happened. I didn't care who won the Reward, I didn't care who won Immunity, I didn't care that Shambo, Yaz or Monica were the potential targets, I didn't care that Eric found the idol, I didn't care that Jon saw him looking for the idol...this season is just so blah for me and I still have no one to really root for. In fact, the only reason I was happy with the immunity win is because it would relieve me of Russell for the rest of the episode! (and even then, the editors made sure to let him fill his "I'm a mastermind" quota in the beginning, lest you forget that this is The Russell Show.)

I really wish they'd do a tribe swap already; don't they usually have one by now? Maybe that will shake things up and maybe the new group won't be as enamored with Russell. The previews don't make me any more excited about next week when Liz (?) gets the "Don't mess with Russell" treatment. Sigh. Looks like we're in for another week of Russell-mugging. Why do these idiots always tell him in advance that they don't trust him?

It's not unheard of for a season to start off badly for me only to turn around and become quickly enjoyable -- the Fiji Have/Have-Not season was deadly dull the first few weeks, but then they did that tribe swap thing and by the time the Earl-Yau alliance pulled the most delicious fast one on Alex/Mookie/Edgardo, I was hooked for the rest of it -- but unless Samoa shakes things up soon, this could end up being the worst season of any reality show I've ever seen.

And yes, I'm including the American Idol season that Taylor Hicks won. Even worse than that.

I think they weren't going to shake it up to see if the Yellow tribe would be completely decimated. Now that they one at least once they might do I shuffle which I agree is much needed. As far as the boring level I'd have to say it's because no one is playing the game. Or if they are it's not being shown. There's definitely more going on in the Yellow tribe because Natalie has already noted that Russel pisses peopel off but we've not seen that showcased in anyway.

As for why people tell him they don't trust him... he just flips out if anyone voices opinions other than his. That whole thing with Betsy was because she wanted Ashleigh out instead of Marissa who would assume THAT would lead to I don't trust you and need to get rid of you now? Who knows what Liz says to get him fired up but they've been setting Jaison up for the exit so I don't know if it's bad news for her.

I don't think it was that crazy of Shambo to be surprised that the chickens could fly. I was under the impression that today's chickens have been selectively bred to the point that they don't do anything but sit around and lay eggs (or get fat for the slaughter, or whatever). Indeed.

Shambo was not crazy (at least about chickens) and neither are you. There are all sorts of chicken species and sub-species who vary in a number of ways. Most domestic chickens can not fly. Their flight wings are cut in their youth so they never learn how to but even if they're not clipped every chicken species I've encountered are incapable of experiencing any sustained flight. So can a chicken flap enough to get into a tree? Yes. Can it fly? No.

And as for Russel's reasoning of "it has wings" "it's a bird" I'd like to introduce him to Subclass Palaeognathae.

Well to be fair, Betsy did more than just that. She outright told him, "We don't have to trust each other, but we can be civil to each other" or some shit. Really, these people are idiots.

Yeah but I mean she said that after the damage was already done, you know? And Marrissa approached him in a really sane calm manner too.

I hope you're right about the tribe swaps. Do you know btw if they've definitely returned to a F2 format for good? I was hoping they had, and after reading a spoiler thread for a rumored F3 outcome that's so terrible I wouldn't even be able watch this season if I knew for sure that was true, I'm now really hoping it's a F2 so that rumor will just be wrong.

Also that thread was started by a particularly unreliable and unstable poster, so hopefully it's just wrong.

I don't know the thread your talking to but I've heard nothing regarding to whether it's a F3 or an F2. I hope it stays an F2.

I dont buy that spoiler... maybe it is true but I don't buy it

This episode was a lil bit better just because we didn't see Russel that much and we finally get to see Galu a lil more. Too bad Monica wasn't voted out. The girl is worthless & annoying.
I have to agree that this season beginning is not that great compared to some others.

- That was hilarious to see Galu winning the reward challenge even if the editing was very predictable (btw I really don't like Dave) But why is there no Swap !! I was so happy when the message said "take 2 members with you" I was like Oh great!!! there's gonna be a swap !! But no..
- Shambo !! what have u done ?? Dumbass let Eric have the immunity idol LMAO, worst move ever !!
- Russell (Galu) is very strange, first he allies with the women, then he targets a woman. But even more weird, he's pissed with the tribe voting off Yaz, but he ends up voting for her ?

It's kind of hard to get involved this season, but I still like John (not just coz he's a hottie), Brett, my girl kelly and Natalie...

And If I had to rank the seasons like Nik i'd say that Borneo, Tocantins, Palau, Cook Islands, Micronesia & Panama are my favs

Yeah I agree with you Nik, this season is not very entertaining. I think that CBS thought that everyone would be talking about Russell and his evil ways. No thanks...just boring. Let's hope that things turn around soon and they have a tribe swap.

I like Eric, Brett and John. I think Russell has strong leadership qualities and he went with the group in voting Yaz to go rest her body (like that isn't what she did 99% of the time anyway). Galu has gotten lazy in camp but are stil doing well at challenges even with the slow rope walker. They would have won had not the boxes tumbled.

I am so sick of Russell and Shambo.

Listen people, chickens can take to the air. They cannot fly well but they certainly can lift off, and that chicken was in a bunch of trees and maneuvered through the branches well. Shambo should have known a chicken can lift off. Remember this is Samoa and not America, so the chickens were probably bought from some place nearby. Catching a chicken is a hard task. They are quick on their feel and good at escaping the grasp. Why in hell did it get out, Miss SBo?

I just realized... Foa Foa didn't have to send anybody to Galu's camp in last night's episode. Even though both idols have been found now, the fact that Yasmin and Shambo were allowed to observe Foa Foa's camp life kind of gives Galu an unfair advantage. The producers really must be making this crap up as they go along.

Also, while I'm not complaining that Probst was missing from the reward challenge, it was really kind of funny for him to NOT be there. Maybe even Jeff has given up on this season being good and decided to skip out on the challenge? Haha.

Well there's no cited source for the spoilers but if such a final three comes from the current landscape to pass I can only imagine it'll be through some semi-decent social maneuvering. The big picture though is this heavily conflicts with Kenny's spoilers from earlier and Kenny has a track record of being accurate.

And BTW that F3 will be weird considering it was the 3 foa foa member that were
together at the reward challenge last night

I didn't notice that either. I agree though, Foa Foa not being allowed recon was unfair.

It was just weird. If it had something to do with the challenge, like the first person to make a move got rewarded or punished in someway then there would be some point but the way it was, play an 18 ball game of Bacci with a score of 1.... that was just dumb

Finally it feels like I'm watching the first episode of season 19 of Survivor, as opposed to just the Russell monologue.

And finally we got to see a lot more of Galu, and finally I got a sense of the personalities of some of their members. It's been a pity cos' some of them seemed rather interesting.

I think I finally understand the problem with recent seasons of Survivor. Where the previous seasons had more people representing different walks of life, this season, due to castings that the producer did, a lot of casted contestants are actually just failed-actor/actor wannabes, i.e monotonous and one-note. People like Yazmin very obviously appeared on the show just to be pretty/ to get more screen time/ to have something on her resume when she auditions for a next movie. They don't do much in terms of strategizing in the game, works around camp, nothing. NADA. And it gets tired when the show is ladden with these unremarkable characters.

And now, Kodak moments of the week-

1. Brett's cute. And from this angle he looks like a love child of Jeff Probst and Zac Efron.

2. Oh, baby, I'd like me some of JOHN!

I SO would, I SO would...

3. Of course, who can forget Yazmin's shoes?

Oh, gurrrlll, you got yourself some nice pair of Jimmy Choo rip-offs there. Oh no you didn't!

It's a final 3 this season it seems. Fall - final 3; Spring - final 2

About the spoiler:

Russell and Natalie were spoiled by the same person who spoiled the cast of Season 20. I don't remember if he said Mick though. If this really happens then Galu will be just like Timbira

And if the spoiler is true

That'll be such a bummer to witness the final with this jackass "and his wonderful strategy" bringin with him Natalie (even if I really like her)
And yeah, that'll be a Timbira part2.. we saw before that it's not impossible therefore they can be in the F2 then

It seems odd to me that they'd know this is their last season so soon. I mean it's possible but for any show to know in October that it's canceled just seems off to me.
