If you ever drive through the Columbia Gorge, you will see this massive edifice on the north as you pass near Bonneville Dam. It's a pleasure to behold and fun to hike up, too.
^That's the view from about three-quarters of the way up. The last mile or so of the climb is punishingly steep, but as consolation the trail disappears for awhile and you get to climb this talus slope.
Using your hands is mostly optional.
Such qualities make it a quiet trail. There's time to look at the Trilliums.
And the payoff is maybe the best in the Gorge, if dramatic views and cliffs are interesting to you. Look back at the first picture. This shot is taken from from that little patch of conifers on the pinnacle, where I dawdled in the sunshine.
