Armistead Maupin's Tale's of the city

Has anyone ever watched this whole series? I've just finished downloading it and wondered what peoples opinions were about it.

It is an awsome series! The characters are very addictive!

Enjoy!

I've only seen the first set, but I loved it. It was very true to the books. I also have a soft spot for Laura Linney.

On a side note, I recently read Michael Tolliver Lives. Not as good as the original series, but not bad...very touching at some points.

I love love LOVE the Tales of the City series. They are indeed very faithful to the books. Very well done.

Prettyboysing -- I can totally identify. The Tales series is what started my love affair with Laura Linney. I would pay to watch that woman read the phone book!

Wow i've only seen three episodes but was hooked after the first! I'm not quite sure what everyone's secrets are yet but I can't wait to find out.

Saw first on PBS and they butched the movie with the sex scenes. When it ran on Showtime had taped and really enjoyed the Tales. New book on Michael Tolver.

Ditto on the Laura Linney worship. She's a fearless actor.

I love the first one. I must have watched it like 20 times already. I bought the second season without even seen a single episodes and I didn't really care for it at all and the third one sucks. Not all original casts return for the second and third. I was kind of miss the one that play Mona and Micheal.

The first one was the best. I think Parker Posey stole the scence everytime she's in. I love that girl. Billy Campbell was so Hot in it. The part where he walks around in a bath tower in the bath house was Hot. You can clearly see his bulge underneath.

I agree with you xwings, the first series is totally superior to the second (I have only just got my hands on the third and i'll be watching tonight). I didn't like the fact that Mona Ramsey was being played by a differant girl in series two and that her scenes were mainly with mother Mucker and not Michael or Mary Anne. I had such a crush the first time I saw the original Michael Tolliver but the second one didn't do much for me at all (the moustache). Also how hot was Mary Anne's new boyfriend in series two Burke?

You're right, Marcus D'Amico, the original Tolliver is rather good looking, but I do like Paul Hopkins too (and the flashes of his cock).

And Mary Anne's boyfriend was played by the other actor I mentioned, Colin Ferguson.

I agree on some of the cast changes. I still prefer the original Mona (Chloe Webb) over her replacement. At first the new Michael bugged me, but I got to where I actually really prefer Paul Hopkins over Marcus D'Amico.

And the second series is definitely not as good as the first, though it is still entertaining in its own right. But I loved the third one -- the whole Jim Jones storyline totally hooked me in.

I'd love to see the third series but don't have a multi regional dvd player and as far as I'm aware it's not available in the UK, it wasn't shown on TV over here. Any suggestions anyone?

I've watched the whole series a few times. It was like
nothing I had ever seen before. Excellent, highly
recommend it.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Further-Tales-City-REGION-NTSC/dp/B00006FDBN The used one is pretty cheap.

If you have DVD burner you can easily remove the region. Or you can watch it on your PC. If you look around you can find a software that will let you play on your PC screen.
