Tame Impala - Apocalypse Dreams

Tame Impala's rendition of "That's All For Everyone," a fever dream from 1979's Tusk that's been made even more feverish for the compilation Tell Me That You Want Me, due August 14 (Hear Music/Concord).. Here, the Aussie psych-rock outfit swap acoustic guitar for melting synths and send Lindsey Buckingham's tune through a battery of effects. Echoes abound but it's a cover that's faithful in both directions. Hear it exclusively:

Whether it's their intention or not, I can't think of a current band that captures the 70's AOR sound more successfully than Tame Impala. Love these guys!

Just purchased my pre-sale tickets this week!

Haven't been to a show of any kind since moving to Potland, so I'm damn excited. Not sure the bf will enjoy them much though.

Tame Impala are coming back with Currents, arriving later this year via their new label, Interscope.

Australia's Tame Impala returned to the road last night for their first show in five months. The psych-rockers' performance at Pomona, California's Fox Theatre featured a pair of debuts from their new album, Currents, as well as plenty of material from the group's first two LPs.

This song is just insanely great and better than 90% of the drivel that passes for music these days on top 40 pop radio these days. It is remarkable how much this song sounds like a lost track form MGMT's debut CD. In fact Currents sounds more like the MGMT follow up to Oracular Spectacular than Congratulations does.
