I loved the Jim J and Tammy Faye show. It was so campy.
A big fag and a drag queen who was really a woman talking about their problems and doing interviews. Such an odd combination.

Tammy Faye has hit closer to the mark of being Christian than a lot of others. She loves, accepts, and forgives; who could ask for more? I wish her the best for her health, I know it has been a rocky road for her for a long time.

You really hit the nail on the head!

In a way, she's the Dolly Parton of the christian world. Big hair & loud make-up make her appealing to a large cross-section of the gay community. Her obstacles in life, and the path that she has taken to overcome those obstacles is inspiring, and not unlike many of the obstacles that we face. Her first husband was a crook and went to jail. Her 2nd husband was sent to jail, too. She's faced serious medical complications. Yet, she never complains. She has done more on the behalf of the gay community than many people. I don't care if she doesn't walk in gay pride parades. If I asked for a show of hands here of who all has walked in a gay pride parade I'm sure that we'd see that less than 50% of you have.

I've liked her for a long time, and especially after she appeared on The Surreal Life with Ron Jeremy and Vanilla Ice. ;)

She exploits. She and Jim boy exploited the rubes and begged for money while pretending to be pious Christians. She is as phony as her $3.00 bill ex husband. Do you really admire con artists?

Everyone has a checkered past. She might have been unsavory in the past because of the company she kept (jimbo), but she has more than made up for it with years of hard work and dedication. Her sympathy to gays has not been a cash cow - that much is obvious. Her short lived televison show with Jim J certainly wasn't enough to garner anything worthy of a fortune; yet still she shows compassion and love to a community that has been down-trodded by society as a whole. Do you think that has been a beneficial move for her popularity and fame? Obviously not - so I don't think it is fair to judge her by saying she exploits. But you are entitled to your opinion just like the rest of us.

I used to be very conflicted about Tammy Faye due to the fact that she partook of all the wretched excesses of the Jim and Tammy Faye years and not to mention all that garish makeup. But then I saw some interviews she did after their divorce, and when she was on that reality show living in the house with the other celebrities, as well as her various illnesses. After that I began to really like her a lot. I think she's one of those deeply religious people who realizes that religion has done more harm against humanity than most any other thing throughout all time.

As far as what went on during the Jim and TF years, I have read that she had fits of anger with Jim and others associated with PTL over the amount of money that was being spent on luxuries. Yes, she benefitted from them too, but what could she do? She had no power over Jim Bakker or his actions. As far as the makeup is concerned I saw from a show I watched on her life that she is basically a very insecure lady where her looks are concerned. She sees herself as very ugly & plain, and the makeup makes her pretty. I'm certainly not going to castigate her over how much makeup she uses. If she likes it, then that's all that matters.
