Tammy Faye is dying

God,

I'm actually tearing-up re-reading this thread. :(

I guess I just feel so sad for people that have to leave this world in such a
painful way. Having witnessed the agony of the cancer that is consuming her, I know first hand the unbelievable pain she is in. Imagine being so weak that you can't even swallow, let alone get up out of bed.

The amazingly sad thing is that if she were a cat or a dog she'd get one shot, and slip away painlessly. But, since she's human and our society is SO F-ed up about our concepts of death, she is left in bed to suffer pain that even the most powerful of drugs cannot relieve.

I can't type anymore about this.

If you guys want to let the family know you care, this is probably the best place to do so. One Punk Under God
Jay reads the posts and responds once in a while. There's some interesting discussions in there about homosexuality and religion, too.

I totally agree with you. I find it disgusting that we treat people this way in the name of religion. If people are terminally ill or they must live in a quality of physical life that is so bad/painful that they are unable to get any joy out of life, they should be aloud to be euthanized if they want to be.

In Tammy Faye’s case, with her being so religious, I think that she would just want to wait it out even if she was given that option.

I have a friend that is almost 99 years old. She is not terminally ill but her body is literally worn out. She has recently gone blind (macular degeneration – sp?), her bladder does not turn off, and she is unable to walk. She prays almost every day that God will take her. When I go to the convelesent hospital to visit her, many of the people there just look like they are waiting to die.

Our medical system's goal is to prolong life. I see these people and think that our focus should be on quality of life and not quantity.

I too always thought that Tammy Faye had a good heart and was truly ministering to the needs of the people...

She got a raw deal when her husband went astray and then to prison, etc....

I am thankful to see our great JUBBERS with a heart wishing her good tidings in her time of need... I think the stopping of treatment of the cancer is a sign that her days are truly numbered and with her weight down to 65 pounds, it's only a matter of time till she dies.

How sad; but at least she is NOT alone and will have friends around her to support and offer her some peace....

Shalom Tammy Faye!(*8*) (*8*)

She really seemed to embrace the gay community in recent years, and became a better person after all the circus involving her and her ex-husband Jim Bakker 's ministry sandal. Her son openly has made an effort to minister to gays respecting their humanity and dignity as people, and fully supporting their right to live honestly and unashamedly as being gay or lesbian. Her heart was in the right place, and she deserves to die in peace and dignity. While I have a hard time with assisted suicides,I don't believe extraordinary measures should be used when a person no longer has a possibility of any real quality of life, just prolonged suffering.....it is good that she is going out on her terms now the end seems near.
