I used to go to those years ago. The staff will not let you stay in too long the first few times. They don't want you getting burnt any more than you do. They will push their own products. I never knew there were products made just for tanning beds. I used to tan nude. I did start to get 'bumps' on my ass. Not sure if that was because my ass had never seen the sun before or just because I'm fair-skinned. I quit going after about six months. Just didn't see the benefits justifying the costs.

you can use tanning accelerator, but i wouldnt at first, try 10 minutes at first no more

also i would cover my balls and wiener with a rag of some sort, dont wanna burn the goodies

I go regularly, it definitely will clear up your skin, UV light is very good for our bodies in moderation. As for what to wear? what ever you comfortable in, I tan nude because I change outside from speedos to shorts to trunks etc and dont want the lines. As for the lotions, sun screen is bad for you in the beds, it is better to go slow, they will help you like gmoney also said. As for the lotions there they uninhibite your tan and accelerate your ability to tan, the better the lotion the less you have to tan, better for your skin in the long run. As for color, you will only tan what your body allows and it happens to be the color you get outseide, there is no fake color just the exact same light as outside without the harmful rays.

dont try 10 minutes first!!!! Let the person there guide you. I tan in a high pressure bed and it is a max of 10 minutes. If you don't know the bed for instance you would fry.

I'm telling you this because you are my age and I care!

No offense to anyone but fake tans look like shit. :) (spray AND tan beds - I can tell from a mile away - I just can)
Spring has just begun and summer is around the corner so go outside and do like the crocodiles do.

Being outside in the sun is FUN!

Oh and by the way, I used to own 4 tanning salons in Vancouver for 11 years, so I do know what I am talking about.

a tanning bed is not fake color for crying out loud. The only reason someone may be able to tell is if it is the middle of winter and someone had a tan, of course you will stand out but not any different then going to Mexico

if you tan easily it will take only a few sessions, say 3 or 4 to start noticing your skin clearing. On that topic remember if you haven't tanned for awhile your skin may feel a bit itchy or irritated. It does not mean you are burnt, only over tanning and being red means that. Just steady small increments and your skin with be able to tough it out. And by the way your dick can't and won't burn. It does not have the came layers of skin as say your butt or your back does. You would have to be severely burnt down there before it would ever even be sore. Have fun!!

I also tan regularly during the summer, so here are a few tips:

1. Do use one of the accelerator lotions they offer. Moist skin does tan best. You don't need to break te bank for a lotion, either. Since you're doing it to clear your skin up, a basic accelerator will work just fine. There are several good bands: Swedish Beauty, Australian Gold, californai an, Designer Skin, etc. I personally prefer Australian Gold.

That being said, you can also get specific lotins for your face. I prefer Swedish Beauty in that respect...haven't tried Australian gld for that yet.

2. I prefer to wear briefs in te bed. Don't need my junk getting burned!

3. Start slow. The staff on hand should know where to start you for your skin type.

Remember, moderation is key. I'd still wear sunscreen when you're out side though. This goes for summer, AND winter.

I have gone to tanning salons to help me out with my color as I don't tan easily under the sun. I do have darker skin than most, however I just do not have the luxury of being outside as my work confines me indoors. When I do go tanning though, people around me think that it is my natural color so woo-hoo for me. I tan in the nude because i don't like the tanlines. As far as the length of time to tan, best to leave this decision with the pros in the salon that you are intending on going to. You may think that your first few visits are useless as they advise you to go for just a few minutes, but you will thank them as your body will have to get used to this process gradually.

I worked in a tanning salon for a while and I know that using sun screen is not preferred. The plastic you lay on is porous and can absorb the sun screen and ruin someone else’s tanning. Start slow, they will help you. After all it’s what they are paid to do. Wear what you are comfortable in. Remember, the person who used it last probably tanned nude. I prefer beds that have the disinfectant spray and paper towels that you can clean yourself. After I tan I always rub my body with a moisturizer. The top layer of skin is the darkest so you don’t want it to peel more than it would naturally. Good luck and happy tanning.

Haven't tried tanning beds, but read in last month's Men's Health that a new study has shown a 3x increase in risk for melanoma for those under 35 who use tanning beds. Just a head's up, because a little color might not be worth a plaguing cancer.

I tan nude. If you start slowly, your "goods" will tan right along with the rest of your body and not burn. After all, it's skin down there just like everywhere else.

This is so true ... especially here in Florida you cannot tell who "fake bakes" and who gets sun regularly. A tan is a tan! I think it is more obvious up north.

Here in Florida - of all places - tanning salons still do great business. I learned that some people don't have time to go lay out on the beach at certain times of the day and salons give them control over receiving rays when their time is right.

I echo everyone's advice in starting slow! Your first 2 sessions should only be about 5 minutes and every 2 sessions thereafter increase by 2-3 minutes. In the salon I used to go to, the maximum time is 20 minutes on their basic bed. Some people expect to come out of the tanning bed all golden right away -- NOT! It takes time for the body to absorb the rays and develop the pigment that darkens you. And I also echo the "allow 48 hours between tanning sessions" advice too!

Me? I tan nude wherever possible. I don't like tan lines either! ..| My salon sells this thing to cover your genitals for $1 but why have a golden body and a pale white dick?? LOL

Tanning beds are the best thing to happen to dermatologists' bank accounts in decades. They increase the risk of cancer tremendously, and the damage you do to your skin by tanning when you're young will show up when you're older, even if you stop tanning. I'd forego the tanning altogether and consult a doctor about your acne.

Tan=damaged. End of story.

everything in moderation. I live in Florida, but always stuck inside in an office and never see the sun. Most people would not know I lived in Florida. I do tan on an occassion to give me a little color.

oh I know I know.....thats why I was debating about them. But like what TravisMT81 mentioned, everything in moderation. I have no plans on becoming one of those people who live in tanning beds and look rediculous. I just heard that it helps to clear up the skin, and I have seen a doctor(s) before, I just wanted to give this a try. If it doesn't clear it up, I will quit.

Good for you! You sound like a rational man. Just be careful!

;)

(Full disclosure: I'm the son of a dermatologist; in a way, tanning beds paid for my college.)

NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE...
TOPIC: Artificial Tanning Booths and Cancer...

Almost everyone who frequents a tanning salon or exposes themselves to the sun is putting themselves at risk for skin cancer. The risk is greatest for people with fair skin; blonde, red, or light hair; and blue, green, or gray eyes. Artificial tanning can also be more dangerous for those who burn easily, have already been treated for skin cancer, or have a family member who has had skin cancer. In addition, women have a higher risk of contracting skin cancer on their legs, and men have a higher risk of getting it on their backs.

Well, you've heard it before. Just be aware of the dangers and use your judgment.

Yeah, make sure you use a bed witha timer on it!!!

I tan at a hair salon(we don't actually have a tanning salon back home, just someone who has a bed), so I'm used to that environment(she does have somee tanning training, and so does her staff, so she does know her stuff).

My advice to you is to find an actual tanning salon, who specialize in nothing but tanning. I don't thik you need to go to a chain, but an actual tanning saon would be waaaay better than other places.

The fact that she didn't mention goggles bothers me......
