Tanning bed questions

OK, I am back and have read the comments.
Hungry4cock you are lucky because in Canada you will never have any of the horror stories that others do including the U.S. All beds have timers, try Planet Tan or anyone that is SmartTan certified they will help.
As for a Demetologist I had so many referrals from them for their clients I can't count them. Any medication for skin ailments are extremely hard on your liver. UV light is not. As for the ones about cancer it is all B.S. no one and I mean no one has ever got Malignant Melanoma from tanning period. It is from over exposure to UVB light which is difficult to get from beds and you must burn to 2nd degree before it will ever even count towards a possibility of cancer.
On the other hand if a doctor or dermatologist were to print an article saying tanning is good but... no one but no one would ever read past the but. That is why it is such a careful subject.

If you want good skin, I would recommend that you not use tanning beds. It might look good now, but you'll be dealing with wrinkles/freckles/moles/spots in a few years. And those will be the least of your problems if you develop skin cancer, like so many avid tanning bed fans do.

Look into airbrush tanning. Think of a famous person you know whose tan you admire... They don't get it from laying out in the sun. They get it from a bottle.

Is a tan that only lasts a few days worth this? And as for the "tanning beds aren't harmful" BS... That's untrue. Any time that you tan or burn, you're doing harm to your skin. It's your skin's natural defense mechanism for UV rays.

Who here uses tanning beds?

I want to try going to them because they are supposed to clear up your skin (ie acne, zits, pimples). Any one else know of this?

More questions: What do you wear in them? (I'm thinking a speedo?) Do you wear sunscreen, or does that just defeat the purpose? I've heard that the people who work there like to push you to use some lotions of theirs, are they just moisturizers? AND...how long do you lay in them? How do I ease into them without getting burnt? I don't want to look like an orange, just a light sunkissed look.

I am very self conscience about my body. My chest, back, stomache, and upper arms haven't seen the sun in MANY years....and now that I get naked infront of my guy, I want to have nice skin.

I go to tanning salons every summer. IMHO, they can help clear your skin because those beds get really hot and you would sweat any dirt or grimes that is in your pores. You can anything you want when you lay in them. Usually, the beds are in closed off boths w/ lockable doors. So, you can tan naked if you want. As far as sunscrren goes, you can wear it. I personally wear tanner when I go. Of course those people will try to push their products. They want to make money. When you go, you tell the person behind the counter how long you want to lay in there. The bed is set on a timer. It will automatically shut off after your time is up.

I'm telling you this because you are my age and I care!

No offense to anyone but fake tans look like shit. :) (spray AND tan beds - I can tell from a mile away - I just can)
Spring has just begun and summer is around the corner so go outside and do like the crocodiles do.

Being outside in the sun is FUN!

Hey Tintin,

Yup, spring is a good time for tanning, since the sun is a little easier ..|

I use to a tanning salon and I always made sure to cover up the goodies--- it's just one place I don't want to worry about the pain of a burn, peeling skin, or the possiblity of cancer. Tan lines are hot

Tanning beds are the best thing to happen to dermatologists' bank accounts in decades. They increase the risk of cancer tremendously, and the damage you do to your skin by tanning when you're young will show up when you're older, even if you stop tanning. I'd forego the tanning altogether and consult a doctor about your acne.

Tan=damaged. End of story.

You should know by now EVERYTHING is harming you. Your drinking water could be killing you or the pestisides in your fruit, the meat we eat, even our oxygen is polluted. That's life.I use to tan a lot and slowed it way down when I got older. But now I live in Phoenix and it's more dangerous to be outside than in a tanning bed! I started tanning to get rid of childhood acne. It does get rid of it by drying it out. I was never so worried about cancer as I was about it aging me. My aunt tanned everyday for like 10 years and she looks like shit. But every once in a while won't kill you. It's all genetics with cancer or aging. But I actually really gave up tanning after 9-11. Strange thing is I use to dye my hair dark including my facial hair and tan till I was really brown. I am italian but looked middle eastern and I can't believe the comments I got from people that were hateful. It got to be so bad I stopped the tanning and bleached out my hair. I really changed my look and people left me a lone.Haven't tanned much since.

I've been tanning for many years. I started after I learned that it could help with my erratic acne problem. It really works for acne.

I also have blonde hair and a light complexion. Since I live on the beach and spend so much time outside having a base tan prevents me from getting a bad burn with the sun. My doctor told me that one really bad sunburn during your youth can cause skin cancer later in life. When I was young, I got burnt and blistered every year. Indoor tanning prevents a blistering outdoor burn.

During the fall and winter, I tan just once a week to keep some color. I don't like the fake, heavy tan look you see on some people during the winter. Big turn off for me.

I also tan with boxer briefs on. I like the look of tan lines. I think they are sexy.

Another added bonus for me, it helps elevate my mood especially during the dark, dank winter months. I suffer from depression and my doctor says it's just as good as sitting in front of a light box.

My GP keeps a eye on my skin and moles to alert me if anything looks "fishy". So far nothing yet.

I have a friend who just was diagnosed with skin cancer and he had to have many areas cut away from his body. He had over 40 stitches on his back alone. He was never a tanner but did get burned a few times when he was younger. I believe genetics plays a large role in developing skin cancer.

There was a story I saw on AOL last year about tanning addicts. Some experts consider this an addiction like alcohol and drugs. I do agree with this because if I get busy and don't have time to tan, I get irritable and it stays on my mind for a while.

The bottom line for me is that it's a good experience.

Happy tanning.

Oh, and usually they have stickers you can get. I recommend using them, just put it on the same spot every time you go. I have a playboy bunny close to me cock, maybe I'll show a picture if I ever get around to it :)
I have to say that is girlie gay. Trust me that's a turn off not a turn on.

I started tanning about 2 weeks ago because I have great arms and face all year round here in Florida but two trips to the beach wasn't enough to bronze out my chest. The first two times I wore small low rise briefs, which resulted in some major tan lines. That was also in a Lie down bed and I noticed that I still had way too pale sides because my arms blocked too much of the light. So I went to a new place twice now and used the stand up bed, I also tanned nude. The stand up's are faster and I just cover my goods with my hands for about half the time to keep the exposure level down. The tan lines aren't as strong anymore and the rest of my body matches my exposed areas (arm and face) so that's all I probably go for the rest of the summer, just wanted to get 'caught up'. It's a ton of fun standing nude though, it's hard to not get turned on.

Oh yeah, I bought a bottle of lotion, it just keeps the skin moistened so the idea is that your skin is less damaged from the process. I don't buy any lotion with hemp product in it, I think you smell like you've been smoking pot after it gets heated up in the bed and I hate that smell.

Hey Guys, I have a tanning question. I have a very hairy chest and I've noticed lately that after I tan...even several days after, my chest hair seems to fall out more than it does when I don't tan. I tan nude and my chest is the only place this happens. My pubes, arm pit hair or leg & arm hair don't....just my chest. Have any of the rest of you experienced this?

I know we all lose body hair on a daily basis; but after I tan, I'll scratch or rub my chest and I'll have sometimes 10 hairs or so fall out in my hand. It's not noticeable and I"m sure when those fall out 10 or more grow back...LOL; but I was just curious if anyone else has the problem.
