Re: Do you think Ex Gay/conversion therapy is okay?

I know exactly why they want to go through it. They are desperate to be seen as 'normal' and be accepted. Exactly the type that snake oil salesmen love because they are so anxious to believe that they don't question. That doesn't make the science behind the therapy any more valid and the evidence is pretty clear from the medical experts and third-party investigators that have looked at the science.

Yeah but that's easy for you to say, if you're happy.

Other gys like myself are not happy and have no motivation, so I'm supposed to just be unhappy all my life.

Prove me wrong. I would love to have a boyfriend and kiss a guy.

To find the man of my dreams.

Being black and gay I feel so alienated and attacked.

I'm just getting very impatient and thinking all of that is fantasy

Sometimes I feel, I'd rather just either convert myself or kill myself. Either one.

Re: Do you think opposites can attract for love?

Can someone tell me why this is?

Because the butch/femme dynamic is considered outdated, and the main strategy seems to be that you dress up like the sort of man you want to attract.

That's bullshit though. Why can't I like what I don't want. For example, I don't like beards on myself. I would never grow a beard, that's just not me. But a man with a beard is very attractive to me. So.

Re: Do you think Ex Gay/conversion therapy is okay?

So this thread is no longer on topic, but belongs to the ' I want a boyfriend' collection.

Re: Do you think opposites can attract for love?

I've seen 'opposites attract' type thing work for straight people. See no reason why it wouldn't also work for gay..

I think allot also depends on the person - some people are attracted to someone opposite themselves, others are attracted to someone like themselves.
For me...I'd want someone like myself (maybe not an exact duplicate, but atleast similar)

That you are unhappy and desperately want and hope that conversion therapy will 'cure' you, makes no difference to the reality that the therapy is a sham with no real medical evidence to show it works. If you want to deal with your unhappiness, find a reputable therapist to help you deal with who you are instead of falling for the fake promises of a quack's miracle cure.

This is like your other question about the miracle pill that would make you straight, it is a nice dream but there is no such thing in reality and you should rightfully be questioning someone who wants to sell you one.

Re: Do you think Ex Gay/conversion therapy is okay?

The conclusion of studies of the eight largest conversion programs in North America:
From the available data, four studies reported a "success" rate during conversion therapy of 0.4%, 0.0%, 0.5 and 0.04%. That is, conversion therapy has a failure rate in excess of 99.5% during each study. Considering the anecdotal data which indicates a large percentage of extremely depressed and suicidal clients emerging from conversion therapy, it would appear that this form of therapy is worthless. It my well result in the death by suicide of more gays and lesbians than it "converts" to a heterosexual orientation. Unfortunately, we cannot be certain of this. The quality of the studies is extremely poor.

A 99.5% FAILURE RATE. They will all tell you the programs work but they only provide ancedotal evidence of supposed 'ex-gays' most of whom wind up admitting it was really a failure a year or two later. It is not about how happy I am or how unhappy you are, its about hopefully helping you from making a very bad mistake that will likely (99.5%) chance make you even more unhappy.

Re: Would you have a relationship with a guy in jail?

I'm watching Love After Lockup and the women on that show seeking out the prisoners are so ditzy, desperate and unattractive....its sad. They're RUSHING marriage and its just pathetic.

Any body who seeks out somebody in prison are stupid, desperate and incapable of making well-calculated decisions. Somebody with a criminal record has so much less earning power than somebody without one. Leaving money aside, most also don't have the emotional intelligence to develop healthy relationships.

Those men are just looking for (1) Somebody to talk to since prison is boring, (2) A place to stay after getting out and (3) Financial support.. Nothing more.

But the guys are hot though! So the women clearly just want men that they couldn't otherwise get under normal circumstances..

Re: Would you have a relationship with a guy in jail?

Yeah, but then someone is bound walk up to where you've sequestered yourself in an outta-the-way place so your daydream can wind itself down in peace just to tell you that you're breathing a bit heavily and should probably quit smoking. Thank god those hypothetical hands held a cigarette or it coulda gotten awkward!

I'll smack the shit outta them and tell em they not my daddy!

I mean yes a therapist will help with mental health, but I still feel alone at the end of the day.

Re: Why is drug use so common in the gay community?

I love smoking weed and baking edibles.

Back when I was single, I actually hard a hard time finding other gay guys who smoked weed. Most were actually turned off when I asked them if they liked weed.

I actually can't stand alcohol at all.

Re: Would you have a relationship with a guy in jail?

No, I would not initiate contact with an inmate. It's possible that some situation might initiate the contact, such as a class or a friend, and then I might, but probably not.

Re: Do you think opposites can attract for love?

Well I hope to find a guy that likes opposites.

Re: Is there racism/discrimination in the gay male community?

Is there racism in the gay community in America? Well in any group of hundreds of thousands of people the answer if probably gonna be yes at least among a few but compared to most other groups in society gays are probably among the least racist because most gays have probably experienced some form of discrimination themselves. The problem is that people experience racism differently. Someone who is part of a visible minority may think that if he is rejected sexually it is because of his race whereas the person rejecting him may just not be that into him for reasons unrelated to race. I think it would be really really hard being an effeminate black male. Most gay guys I know are into black guys, I am personally in a long term relationship with a wonderful black guy and we know two other interracial gay couples, But an awful lot of gay guys are NOT into effeminate guys (weird I know but there it is.) If you are being rejected by a lot of other gays it probably has more to do with where you are on the feminine - masculine spectrum than your race.

Aww that's unfortunate. Ugh.

Re: Would you date someone much older/younger than you?

Blazing saddles says otherwise. The humor wouldn't work if no one got the references.

Epic fail. I'm black gay and feminine and have seen Blazing Saddles and Stir Crazy. I also get all the jokes.

I'm just an alien that way.

You want to go on live webcam chat? I'm actually a young gay black feminine man. That's 27 years old. Ask staff.
