For the love of Fuck. It is a consumption tax on US consumers. Nothing more. Nothing less. No magic. No sleight of hand.

Eventually US consumers will become numb to it. At tleast in Canuckistan the government was clear what they were doing and didn't use tariffs as a cover.

^ More proof that TrumpCo. have no clue... and so much for getting rid of wasteful spending...now they will create a whole bureaucracy directed at making people feel that Daddy Tump is taking care of them.

The conservative governments like to do this in Ontario too. Mail us back our own money to buy votes....stupid, wasteful and unhelpful.

Ah, remember all those Republicans (and Joe Manchin) who were running around during the pandemic saying that sending checks to American citizens would accelerate inflation and run up the deficit?

This is what happens when there's no intellectual philosophy behind a party's actions. At this point, it's all just populism to stay in power.

I don't think they will. The SC is fully colluding in the transfer of power from Congress to the Executive Branch and more specifically to set up Trump as dictator. for life.

Meanwhile...enjoy that $20 cup of coffee, Americans for Trump.

Coffee is probably one of the best examples for consumers about who pays the tariffs.

It ain't going to be the importers or the coffee packaging companies.

So either the shareholders are paying these tariffs or the end consumer is for the moment.

Either way...it is going to show up in bad economic news within another 12 months.

Fun fact. My investment manager sold all of our auto stocks in December this year.

So there are no deals. Certainly none that can be trusted or implemented.

Trump is so erratic, that he isn't even hiding that this is all a shakedown scheme by the US.

As Americans are becoming more aware that they are the ones paying the tariffs, and as the other countries where he has announced deals are basically saying that they would continue to buy US treasuries under the guise of investment in America, Trump couldn't abide that. And so ten days after the 'deal' with the EU, he is now demanding 600 million as a gift, otherwise Americans will pay 35% tariffs on European goods.

The US is being controlled by a madman.

From EL Mundo:

"Ten days after Donald Trump and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, reached a preliminary agreement for the former to increase tariffs on European goods by 15%, and less than 24 hours after the announcement by the European Commission that, as a result of that understanding, of the withdrawal of retaliatory tariffs that were going to be imposed on certain imports from the US, the US President has reopened the trade war.

"Basically, Trump wants the EU to give him and his government 600 billion dollars (around 520 billion euros) over the next three years. Otherwise, he says, he will impose a 35% tariff. He stated this in an interview with the financial television network CNBC yesterday. "They are going to give us 600 billion for us to invest in whatever we want. And that is a gift, not a loan," he said."

"The idea of this fund is fundamentally based on the medieval vassalage concept where one political entity had to pay another more powerful one in exchange for protection, although given the limited interest of the US in NATO, it is unclear what protection Europe would receive.

"The absurdity is even greater when examined in detail because the EU, as such, does not have the capacity to invest in third countries. These $600 billion are, if one is generous, an economic, political, and legal delusion of Donald Trump, or, if one wants to think negatively, an attempt to extort an ally."

That's exactly it.

There was an interview recently on one of the financial channels where a real trade representative talked about the weeks and months that it took to negotiate trade agreements. He said that Trump is just meeting with someone and walking out saying, "We have a deal" with nothing in writing and no specifics. For all we know, the other country might be lying to Trump about "investing in America" because they know a) nothing is in writing and b) he'll be dead or gone in four years or less.

After meeting with Trump, they return home where actual trade representatives from the EU and China are waiting to make real deals that don't involve tariffs.

It's a disgusting to see all of these enablers who are happy to tell the emperor that his clothes are marvelous but they really know that Trump is an old fool who will lie either way.

I see that India must have done something to draw his ire because suddenly they are on the 50% tariff rate again...I guess either BRICS related or they wouldn't support the lie that Trump had stopped the 'war' between India and Pakistan.
