Sorry I have had Macs. Only 1 issue in 19 years. A HD failure which Apple came to y studio twice for free and fixed for free! Any other hardware issues I can fix myself.

if you own a laptop why would you need BestBuy to come to your home to fix it? Just curious!

I am not the right guy to talk about extended warranties, but with a laptop, it is a wise investment!
 
Why don't you look for a small local company who can do repairs? They are usually cheaper and you should get someone on the other end you knows what they are talking about. Make sure they have a good reputation first as, like in any industry, there will be cowboys out there.

Is this Geek Squad like PCWorld "Tech Guys"? I would never ever ever ever ever take a computer there to be fixed.

Of course, there is always Noelie around to help. :D
 
It seems that if the problem on my computer gets too bad, I go out and buy a new one. Sure beats the heck out of consulting those rude technicians to repair them.
 
I haven't used outside tech help since i was 14 ;). Mainly because i know more than they do and if i can't fix it they sure as hell can't.

Seriously though, whenever you're having problems, you should check here before you do anything else. 9 times out of 10 we can help you fix the problem and you won't ever have to pay a dime or call in Geek Squat. Though if you'd like to pay us, that's a different story, and we'd be happy to accept. ;)

well. you gotta remember most of the folks in the geek squad are "kids." they may or may not have really good tech skills. my guess is if they had really good tech skills they would not be working at best buy. but you may get a person occasionally, who is a tech head and is doing the job to get by until they get a higher paying job or get through school. it's the same when you deal with the folks in the audio department, or appliances etc. those departments aren't like they used to be in stores. you don't generally have someone who's been there for 5-10 years and knows a lot about what they are selling.
 
You Are Absolutely Right About"BEST BUY" And "GEEK SQUAD".I Bought My HP At "BEST BUY" And They Pushed "PC-cillin" On Me,The WORST Product In My Opinion.They Didnt Even Tell Me That My Computer Came With Free "NORTON".I Had Nothing But Problems With My Computer,Virus And SpyWare.I Would Like To Tell Everyone I Have Heard Bad Things About "NORTON" But For Me I Swear By It,I Have Been Virus And Spyware Free For 9 Months.Again You Are Right On The Money About "BEST BUY" And GEEK SQUAD".Stay Away!!!

Just remember that the computer people at Best Buy are salesmen. They get commission on everything they sell. They love suckers that walk in and dont know what they want. I laugh at some of the people except this one cute guy today at Best Buy was looking at laptops for college and was clueless on what he wanted and the sales person was being so aggressive. I helped him out and the salesman gave me this dirty look. Reckon it didn't go anywhere with the guy but for the first time in a while I felt sympathy. I dont like it.
