Teen Missionary on Kenya Trip Allegedly Raped Orphans

I'm more concerned about Grimshaw's desire for more explicit details than I am about JP's sarcastic post. Those poor kids. :(

I need to point out that murdering children is worse than raping children.

I need to point out that murdering children is worse than raping children.

I don't know why this needs to be pointed out at all, they're both horrible things to happen to anyone. Whether one considers either worse or not is irrelevant because both of these acts being done to someone is awful and sad.

Well, I pointed it out because I'm reading all these comments I agree with about what the consequences should be if the accused is proved guilty, and then I hit a couple of comments saying "this is the worst possible thing.." which I choked on because actually there is something worse.

I don't know what's more horrifying - the fact that someone went on a religious mission to prey on and rape young children, the fact that his scumbag lawyer described the accusations as "pseudo-tribal psychological voodoo", which is absolutely racist, or the fact that so many on here are defending JP for his "remarks", as if he himself is some child that doesn't know any better - I don't remember rape and child molestation being funny in any culture.

I think i'll take a vacation.

Haha, I'm just thinking... regardless of what he allegedly did, he's still hot. Just put a paper bag over his head and I'll be glad to eff him from behind.

I took it that JP was assuming the rapist's voice and suggesting how he rationalized it, although I strongly dislike reading of sexual offenders and hearing compliments to their attractiveness at the same time. And it is insipid to suggest a 19-yr.-old doesn't know "the consequences" of rape.

T'be fair, rapist's attractiveness and suggesting that adults/teenagers don't know the consequences or don't believe the consequences should apply to them for whatever reason (I see them as two sides to the same coin) is a common occurance when shit like that happens.

When the mass murderer was our doorman...all anyone could talk about was how cute he was...it made me want to vomit.

The damage he did is insane..and coming from an authority figure who is supposed to help them. There is nothing cute about him.

Sadly, despite the fact that there are many missionaries working in Africa, often in dangerous zones like South Sudan, and digging wells and aiding agriculture and bringing other useful skills, it only takes a few abuses like this to harm the rest. Africa still needs much help, and it still comes often in the form of missionary assistance since it doesn't rely on politics or government funding.

And, of course, Africa has its own share of rapists and abusers, but when a foreign guest does it, the stigma gets imputed to the race/nationality/organization, which is fair in the accountability department for the organization, but not necessarily representative. Tragically, pedophiles seek out this sort of position the world over, and at 19, this one may not have acted out before so may have no record which a background check could detect.

It is terrible to imagine that orphans have been gathered and cared for, only to have their trust shattered by such acts.

I respectfully disagree with the bolded portion.

How many billions of dollars have been dumped into trying to help Africa? How many volunteers have been going there for decades?

When I was taking martial arts classes, one instructor tried to drill into us that if you do something once, twice, thrice, and it still doesn't work, then what makes you think a 4th time will work?

The same logic applies here. Volunteers and billions of dollars have been going there for decades, and there's been little change. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to help. But doing the same damn thing over and over ain't a solution.

Not saying I have the answer.

I hope JPGhost is being sarcastic. If not, you have some serious issues.

Dont worry, he's not my type ;)

A tad insensitive, aren't we?

...

..and the scary part that kind of thinking is hardly expressed freely but I bet some of us with great deal of ignorance might've been thought like that. :(

Pure undiluted evil. Simply incomprehensible in my view.

My gavel pounded really hard on this one, I hate a hypocritical good samaritan  ( a sinner whose acted like a saint). Well the good news that he's locked for good and I heard that male rapists usually have 'reversed' role in jail 80/90% of them, especially if he's a pedophile, young and white. He's prolly a regular prison bitch in jail right now.

zombiekiller, I believe you are correct. It would seem that the poster was not aware that sarcasm does not come through well in a written form.

Do you mean grammatically? :?

The answer is in where the "help" is sent. I remember the old "save the starving Ethiopians" craze. Like you said, help was sent. Billions of dollars worth of food, but it did no good. Why, because it was sent to the leaders, who were already hoarding food and medical supplies in the first place! They got more while the starving masses got none of it. The cry went out for more help, which was sent. Right into the hands of the wealthy government, who sold it off for a profit with none going to its purpose of providing for the needs of the people. If the goods had just been taken in to the people, with adequate military protection, the starving masses would have been fed. The government would have sent the military in to confiscate it all, but the guards would have been prepared and able to deal with the threat. The corrupt government would have fallen and its wealth would have been properly distributed amongst those who needed it. That's the thing, though. You have to know how, and where, to help as well as knowing to help. Otherwise you ain't gonna do much good.

Take your vacation and pills, Adios mtfcker!

1) that tool is in no way, shape, or form hot. And regardless if he were, he raped children and needs to have his bits cut off with a dull spoon and force-fed to him before any other punishment is handed down.

2) putting a bag over his head wont change what he did. That you can imagine having sex with someone who took pleasure in abusing children is very disturbing.

Why the bag though ? he is hot, apart from the rapey stuff.

And a cruel and violent mass murderer can be a nice guy, apart from all the killey stuff? #-o Apart from abusing and killing the souls of innocent children he is still an asshole. The closest I would come to having sex with that shitbag is to ram a wooden telephone pole so deep up his ass it would rip out through his skull. The only way he'd be hot is if he were tied to the stake like some witch of old and lit on fire. Anyone who would prey on children will never be "hot", nor "sexy", nor in any other way desirable as such. For one to desire such a person is to show, at some deep level, a desire for such activities.

Rape isn't good news no matter who is on the receiving end. I wouldn't say no to killing him, though. As humanely as possible.

"Missionary" is doing god's work.
He should have known sex is not part of god's work.

If it was satire it was very bad satire. My take on satire is it can be useful as a tool to induce the 'oh really' type of laughter while simultaneously pointing out what was said as satire is at least incorrect/wrong. Usually when satire is used by just print there's an addendum that's used as a 'punchline' that shows what actually occurs - most people laugh at satirists because they know the truth is coming. However, some people who use satire are just really fucking shitty at it.

The 'My take is -----" is what a hell of a lot of people say in situations like these, so it doesn't really read as satire to me, even if it was meant to be. As y'can no-doubt see by some of the responses on this thread.

*I specified satire because it's one of the few mediums where disparity is used. Other types of 'humor' use different tactics for their goal - and humors' goal isn't always laughter, not by far.
