I don't know about you guys, but I heard the click.

I heard it too! I just didn't want to meantion it in fear of looking crazy.

I've had my phonelines messed with by people phreaking (phreaking = hacking + phonelines) so I know what sounds to look for now. Didn't hear a connection click, just line-static.

I always ask the telemarketer for their home phone number or business number so that I can call them back at my leisure and usually interrupt them to ask if they would like to buy our services as well.

They invariably hang up.

Why bother with all that stuff? Just say "Sorry,not interested!" and hang up. It is quick and easy.....

It brings back memories, in my many incantations of jobs i worked for an electricity supplier - inbound call cente phone slave.
