Tell me more about Andreus

The thread is interesting so far but....tell me more about Andreus.....

Many thanks to Ram and refuji for their congats posts! (*8*)

(UU)

This leaves only two possibilites. Andreus Thanos was either a nom de plume or a sockpuppet. There's a difference.

For Andreus Thanos to be a nom de plume, there'd have to be a real guy, who served in Iraq, worked in an emergency room, was an expert photographer, got AIDs and died six months later, during a fast that's not really a fast. This strains credibility to say the least.

Was Andreus back when he was here claiming that he was a professional photographer TOO?!?!

That almost positively confirms it beyond doubt - he 'mined' the REAL photographer's website for his backstory.

A JUBber posted the link earlier on in this thread (can't be bothered going through 20 pages to find it)

There IS a man called Andreas Thanos who IS a photographer, who IS in Boston, and who HAS preumably Greek ("southern Europe") connections including through travel.

That is JUST too much of coincidence.

Hang on it's in my browser history....

I mean, it would be like someone calling herself 'Katy Middleton' appearing on a mothercare forum and saying she was pregnant but had extreme morning sickness.

^ Oh, REALLY????

I have no fucking idea WTF is going on with this thread anymore.

Too much tl;dr.

Is anyone else surprised that Sloppyseconds hasn't joined in? He's not usually so shy and retiring. The discussion would benefit from the sort of high seriousness that only he can bring.
Somebody is too busy posting in this thread, to have time to post under his sock puppet SLOPPYSECONDS, haha. (Look, he said "his" - that means it's NOT Stacy! One clue solved in the ongoing mystery.)

 and (*8*) at Stacy...just before scurrying from the thread...at least for now.

Oh, same goes to Swerve!!

I've been trying to imagine what might/could end this thread.

Just a small correction , HIV and AID`s are two entirely different conditions .
It was not uncommon to get an AID`s Diagnosis and be DEAD less than six months later , ESPECIALLY in the Dark-Ages of the
eighties .

Rareboy`s post just got there while i was typing , comment meant for the poster above him .

...In addition to all of this: the time period between his supposed onset of illness and his death was only six months. By 2007, this would have been extremely unlikely, if not pretty nigh impossible. Even during the Dark Days of the 1980s, AIDS took years to kill...
But according to 'Mitri' it was a heart problem that killed him, not the virus...

^ I think the point is though, that by 2007, in the West, it would have been pretty hard to have gone from a diagnosis of AIDS to death within 6 months.

And the nonsense about the fasting and the medications during the month of Ramadan demonstrated that the original 'auteur' of the Andreus farce really did meet the criteria of the 'Munchhausen by Internet' syndrome. Not only did the librettist make mistakes about the religious observances and proscriptions, they also made the error of not understanding the trajectory of the disease, where the person was receiving active treatment. By 2006, the average life expectancy in the US for people diagnosed with AIDS was 24 years.

But as Quasar noted, it was actually some heart problem that was supposed to have killed Andreus.
But the same conditions apply. And water is not forbidden to those who are ill. And even the most religious are only not drinking from sunrise to sundown.

At the end of the day, the creator of Andreus got bored having to inhabit the character on line and knew that the only way to wring the very last emotional response from the audience was to have him expire under the most romantic and pathetic circumstances possible. He couldn't maintain the infinitely less convincing and interesting Mitri character, so that one had to go to jail.

But the crux of the matter is....

Did this avatar do actual harm to anyone on JUB?

Did this avatar actually help anyone on JUB?

If he did no harm except finally embarassing those who were taken in...then that is pretty harmless.

If he did anyone good at all, then

That is a very big ‘if’.

Not pleased.

I will come back to this after I’ve collected myself.

The whole Islamic thing was bogus and I told Andreus that. How could someone claim to be such a devout Muslim by strictly observing a prayer life, Ramadan and other holy days as well as not using alcohol, but ignore the prohibition against a man being a cocksucker? When challenged, he always side stepped or double talked it.

Andreus had to "die" and anyone who paid attention saw the drama of it unfolding beforehand. And Andreus died for one reason--it was no longer possible to keep up the act. But he couldn't just delete his account, he had to die as he lived on JUB, in a blaze of glory that got him the maximum amount of attention.

Loving this thread. So now, there's an Andreas Thanos in Boston who does photography and is still alive? Wow.

Sorry, but isn't this true of 99% of people who cling to any religion? You being a devout christian hasn't put you off of sucking the cock either, has it?

Both Islam and Christianity condemn homosexuality. I don't pretend otherwise. Andreus wanted others to believe this was not true of his religion.

Christianity does not condemn homosexuality.

Paul had something to say on the matter, but the dude was all up in your face about everything. If the transcriptionists hadn't ever found or translated this little tidbit from Paul...is there anything else in the Christian dogma that would have touched on this? Nope. Because the Commandments don't have anything to say about it either.

But Christ was mum on the subject. And Paul is not Christ.

But a lot of us weren't sure whether Andreus might not have been.....

Agreed. The only clear condemnations of it other than Paul come from sections of the Bible that literally put it alongside things like touching a woman who is on her period or eating lobster as all things that will get you tossed out of the kingdom of heaven. Christians ignore literally everything in the OT except that one line.

O.K.!

I think we can all agree, to agree, that "Andreus Thanos" was likely a nom de plume, just as (and I'm sure I'll shock a few of you) "Kyanimal" is!

Now ... was he "Real" or a "Puppet"?

There certainly was a Real person behind the Character, whether a "Puppeteer", or not. And, the character of Adreus certainly existed HERE as this very thread Proves! SO ... Yes! Andreus did, and to a surprising extent still does, "Exist"!

He was a very notorious "force" on this site, and I consider myself quite fortunate to have been "here" at the time, and had the experience of interacting with him! I doubt I'll ever forget him!

I consider it a moot point if there was/is an ACTUAL Dreu person running around "out there" somewhere! There is no doubt he was definitely "Here"! (group)

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)
Chaz :luv:
