I think people were just saying THAT was the actual question everyone asked you that you said you "already answered." No one ever so much as mentioned you being fake but all your answers basically were about how real you are. No one brought up anything opposite.

If Stacy doesn't mind my using her for an example, she and Jasun became close in real life, after she met Jasun on line. Others have had similar experiences.

Nah. I have a clinical mental illness. Not passing any blame, angst or anything onto anyone. The guy is gone. Whether he's dead or not is irrelevant.

Stacy herself was preaching like twenty pages back about "who cares if he was real, he affected us" blah blah. Sure he did. Still stuck on the topic 26 pages in. End it already. No one cares - we've had the same ten posters or so going ad verbatim/ad nauseam for weeks.

We've all learned people should be taken at face value. If you don't know them offline, don't assume they are who they say they are until you do. We've had total loons/crazies on this forum in the 5 years I've been here and we'll have several more in the future. It's the Internet.

If fellow JUBbers have no value unless you have met in person, why bother taking anyone seriously who seeks advice on coming to terms with who they are as gay men or why bother talking someone out of suicidal thoughts or why bother reaching out to someone struggling with loneliness and despair? Why not just treat everyone like they are here to personally amuse you?

JUB becomes more superficial with every passing day.

You hear what you want to and ignore what doesn't suit what you would like to say. If someone had issues and for those who have reached out to me with issues that I have never met I have certainly given the best advice I could muster knowing what little I did of that person.

I would never get so mentally involved with an electronic entity that I would be devastated that they rejected me or lied to me. What ever it was they needed then they obviously got it from portraying whomever they wanted to portray.

I just think there is a significant difference between how I allow personas on the internet to affect me. Like I previously said that does not mean I disrespect them or give them horrible advice when they reach out for help.

I find the idea of an internet chat forum as being or not being superficial positively ludicrous or exceedingly obvious. I find plastic synthetic and I have also found carrots to be organic in nature.

I think in general this is true. But I also think this statement with one broad brush erases the boundaries or difference between people who have given the community every reason to believe they're genuine, and the people who have obviously faked or been caught faking in the lack of being genuine.

Of course we can't ever know "for sure" who is real or fake, or "how real" someone is here compared to offline, except for those in the community who actually do know each other offline. But it's a rather huge reduction imho to take (randomly pulling out someone I think is pretty genuine) Stacy and say we should treat her with the same skepticism as (insert caught sock puppet.)

Do we need concrete and definitive proof that Andreus was fake? Isn't there really enough compelling "speculative evidence" (for lack of better words) that he was fabricated? The super-sleuthing of his name/existence, the posts from Corny & Hoody pointing out inconsistencies & their speculations from way back when, the over dramatic and seemingly unbelievable life/death the guy had, the timely disappearance of BP, etc., etc. I really don't think we need to be challenging trusted members any further for proof, nor arguing amongst ourselves over something like this that has been discussed to death. Let's keep this all in perspective...ok?! Sure...actual proof might be nice, but I highly doubt there is anything more available that one can produce in an online atmosphere that will satisfy and convince everyone.

I was around when Drue was a member, and I somewhat followed his saga and postings. He was very charismatic, intelligent, likeable...at least to the casual eye of a member like me. I never questioned his validity, but I wasn't one that had many interactions with him either...just often read his posts (skimmed over many since brevity wasn't his strong point). However, now in retrospect, with all the known pieces laid out in black and white, I mean come on...really!? It's all just so fantastic.

I have to admit that I did enjoy the character that was Andreus. I almost want to commend his creator for a pretty good job at the deception. I have even enjoyed this entire thread...the plot twist to the original story...years later. It's feels like a cliffhanger ending to a story/movie, that just leaves the viewer having to imagine/surmise what really happened. I kind of don't want any further resolution to this.

As Quasar said in this post and what Bradlee is saying now is that nobody actually knows who Andreus was/is other than as an internet poster. The only member claiming to have actually known Andreus was BostonPilot before his sudden disappearance. Why he made that claim after Hooded Rat had claimed Andreus was a fake I found very surprising since it then started the search to find him!
However I agree the closure of this Thread is now over due, it has certainly stirred up as much controvercy as many of Andreus's Threads themselves !
