The bullet -- silver, in fact -- pierced the vital organs of the intended dissolute soul -- and went on to do deathly injury to Andreus.

Some sources attribute the death wound to an HIV infected silver arrow.

I remember who you're talking about. He was a "college wrestler" and a medical student. He used to post pictures of himself and his boyfriend who was Indian or something. It all came to a screaming witch hunt when Elvin found the website for the college wrestler whose pictures he was using and then traced it back to the guys facebook.

I can't for the life of me remember his name, but I remember the fall out when he was outted as a sock puppet. There was something in JUB back in those days that made it so vicious when someone everyone drooled over was found to be a fake.

This whole Andreus story reminds me of another forum I was a member of and a poster who was a lovely kid. He was diagnosed with cancer and died and the forum went into a bloody meltdown. About 2 weeks after he died his cousin joined the forum and told us all these wonderful stories about how much the forum had meant to the kid, and out of nowhere he disappeared, only to return a month or so later a fucked up scrambled egg after spending the time in "gay conversion therapy".

Long story short, turned out the original poster had never existed. Both were characters in this persons mind. He had a wonderful time building up one to die and then creating the new character to see what was going on.

Reading this thread, the similarities are mind blowing.

I'm amazed at how the common thread in all of these stories seems to be, people start drooling and are more likely to WANT to buy into a sock puppet who appears to be really goodlooking.

Personally I'm suspicious of any picture where the person isn't holding a sign with their e-mail address or username or something. At the very least I always assume it's possibly not really them. But if the person is remarkably goodlooking and trying to get a lot of attention and flirtation over a net forum? Instant suspicion.
 
Back in the day it was a common occurrence, good looking, somewhat troubled newbie enters the gates of JUB, everyone swoons and puts on their White Knight out fit, ready to save the poor tortured sex god. Said Sex God manages to piss someone off who goes on a hunt for clues that would make Miss Marple look like an amateur, and discovers it's a sock puppet. JUB's own Miss Marple drops the bomb, and all hell breaks loose.

I've been burnt several times on this forum, once by someone I really came to care for. We used to chat on MSN daily. After a while you become sort of immune to it and you allow yourself to be jaded. I take people on here now at face value. You are who you say you are and if you're not it's no skin off my nose, you're just words on a screen.

There are several people here who I really care about, that I've chatted too for years, and if they turned out to be a sock puppet I'd castrate them, but they're all older members who've been around for years.

I recently said to someone that there was something missing in JUB, comparing it to the way it was when I was overly active. I think it's the fact that the trust a lot of us had in the people here has been abused so many times over the years. There's only so many times you can allow yourself to fall victim to a fraud before you start assuming everyone is a fake account.
