Ten Words You Need To Stop Misspelling

Oh the other hand, it never fails to surprise me how often the word ANNIHILATE is spelled **correctly** by people...

From Asterix and Cleopatra:

"Advance? But we've only just retreated!"
"If we advance we'll be driven into the Nile!"
"We'll be annihilated!"
"One more pun like that and I desert!"

I think this is due to people being unable to identify the two separate words that make up "Would've, Should've, or Could've" which is what is used in most speech.

Nobody really says, "Well, I would have done this ...", we say "Well, I would've done this".

I really do say "I would have done this" more than I say "I would've done this."

I find it noteworthy that--with increasingly rare exceptions--spoken and written American English uses "would" when British English uses "should" and vise-versa.

This thread and all the memories: there are many great posters gone.

It's a veritable Flanders Field.

...and omg.....someone wrote about Alexander the Great 'raising' a city to the ground when they meant 'razed'.....my eyes are bleeding.
