I wonder how much of this is scare-mongering? The goverment are always trying to justify their OTT laws & policies in the name of anti-terrorism. Stories like this help justify their restrictive & intrusive methods.

Im not saying there is no truth there but you can be sure its exaggerated. By both media & officials.

I was going to post a link to that story, but I was sure that some Islamic-Terrorist-Defending fucktard would accuse me of being anti-Islamic if I made a thread about Pakistani Terrorists.

Could you define "terrorist" for me? Every nationality/group has people who engage in violent extremism but for some reason the word is commonly associated with Islam, usually by uneducated fucktards who get all their news from American media.:p

EDIT: Now that I've got your attention, care to answer my question and explain why you believe Islam is innately violent and hostile? If commonality = innateness then Americans are innately hostile and violent as well.

Why can't we all just be as frightened as our governments want us to be so we will willingly succumb to whatever restrictions they want to impose on us. I mean they spend a shit load of our money on trying to frighten us. Wouldn't we all be better off if we just rolled over and trembled and thanked them for installing cctv in our homes and voluntarily attached trackers to our ankles?

We need to protect our freedom by giving it up willingly to those the media have elected to rule us!

Me bitter? No of course not! what gave you that idea?

Edit: `Nice to see you back Gareth :)

No it isn't.

:rotflmao:

You're right, there isn't a single bias towards Muslim on the planet. People are completely open-minded and rational in response to stories about "Them terrorists blowin' shit up."

I miss the old days when discriminatory fuckbags would be honest and bold about their blatant prejudices instead of espousing them and then denying the existence.

Your epidermis is showing.:p

There is apparently no internationallyy agreed definition of the term terrorist; but I call it as I see fit: thus, the IRA were not 'freedom-fighters (even though many misguided N.Americans supported them as such) they were terrorists.

Interesting. I wonder how many times they've been referred to as such. Now...what other organizations, cultures, and groups can be referred to as terrorists? Could white men? They make up about 3/4s the worlds multiple killers. Sounds pretty terroristical to me.

This post needs to go in the JUB hall of fame.

Err... the IRA is almost entirely white. And the British press has been calling them terrorists for a century. Because they are.

When you see your relatives jump from burning buildings in your neighborhood, you might have different thoughts.

Oh, so you would prefer my opinions to be driven by pure, personal emotion then?

Yeah, thats a great argument!

Don't worry, that will happen anyway.

Now let's see if they actually are guilty and the Police haven't goofed again.

Red Brigades too.....the Weather Underground....Pretty dang white terrorists but in most recent history, radical Muslims have filled the bill. They don't represent most Muslims but they have ideology, passion, weapons, and the ability to intimidate those Muslims who don't follow their interpretation of Islam on their side. You can put your fingers in your ears and sing loudly "la,la,la...I don't hear you"but it will not change the fact one iota.

Kudos to them. In America, terrorism ain't terrorism unless the terrorist is a Muslim.

Christopher Columbus, one of the worst terrorists in history, has his own holiday. And he's referred to as a discoverer, not a terrorist. In fact, for some reason, American schools teach catchy songs about him, no mention of his genocide and slavery.

Yeah, but for the past hundred years or so most N. Americans appeared to be blissfully unaware of terrorism elsewhere in the world. It took the 11th of September 2001 WTC horror before many of them began to face up to that which most of the rest of the world had been dealing with for many decades.

Also, it is really only since the attack on the WTC that the word terrorism has been largely associated with Islamic extremists, as opposed to (for instance) Catholic extremists in the case of the IRA.

The USA seemed almost completely uninterested in helping to fight world terrorism until it directly threatened their own homeland.

No, just like you, they think railing about Islam = helping to fight terrorism.

Yeah that's it, invade someones country, treat them like shit, make them suffer under oppressive laws for centuries, then when they fight back, call them terrorists.

More people died in the Irish Civil War, when the IRA turned on THEIR OWN country in 1922, than had been killed in any military action in Ireland by the British prior to that point. They regard the government of Ireland as every bit as illegitamate as the UK one.

Get your facts straight.

Hey winterknight, thanks for the history tidbit. But the passive ethnocide of the potato famine years is one of many phenomena in the strata of that "centuries" of that history that account for IRA excesses.
Always look at both sides, at the whole thing, and mellow...

.......................Christopher Columbus, one of the worst terrorists in history........................

I thought that Columbus was an invader who destroyed a civilisation in the name of religion and commerce. Surely if the natives had fought back they would have been considered the terrorists.

So true. But this assumption can also be applied on Muslims especially from Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine.:D At the end of the day, extreme injustice is the root cause of terrorism and if you don't rectify the original problem, you can't eradicate terrorism.
