Interesting test. The rows need to be farther apart. Staring at all those squares so close together is a strain. I think it would help with more black space between the rows. But I got an 8 which is pretty good. So it's my eyes or my monitor. I'll try it again tomorrow after some rest.

I don't think that putting a black space between them would work ...

The trick is to move them around untill they flow perfectly. If there was a black space, you wouldnt be able to see the contrast bwtween the colours as well.

I meant wider spacing between each separate horizontal color row not between each square. After a while I started getting eye strain from looking at the checkerboard. If each separate row were farther apart I think it would reduce the strain. But then maybe that's part of the test.

You cant really cheat by looking at the colours, it is still up to your eyes to tell the difference between each one.

...and that is exactly how I cheated.

I think I got the first one pretty well right - but I got bored by that time.

I'm one of these people that looks at 9 letter word puzzles and moves on if I can't find the nine letter word within 20 seconds (I usually get it ). I just can't be bothered to try and make up 37 (or however many) words from all the available letters.

Just colour me impatient...
