..........and the split goes on and on. Here is a Republican after my own heart. San Antonio being the city where I was born and lived through my youth I've always considered it a Democrat stronghold. Until the '70s invasion of the GOP. Now it seems some GOPpers have decided to go to Dems.

Texas Republican Judge Switches Party, Denouncing GOP as Party of Bigots and Hate-Mongers
October 21, 2013 |

A Republican Judge from San Antonio, Texas, has announced he is quitting the GOP and will seek re-election as a Democrat, saying that he can no longer be part of political party whose identity is based on hate, bigotry and destrying people’s lives.

--snip--

I cannot tolerate a political party that demeans Texans based on their sexual orientation, the color of their skin or their ecomonic status.

Congratulations on wising up, your Honor. Now can we have more like you?

...snicker...

Does anyone know what the Latino pop of Bexar County is? No reason to ask really...

Texas's Bexar County—with its county seat San Antonio—is a bellwether county which has been in the column for every presidential winner since 1972, including for both of Barack Obama's elections of 2008 and 2012.

The margin of victory, in 2012, in Bexar County was D+4.52, which was above President Obama's national D+3.85 (over Mitt Romney). That became the first such case for a Democrat since 1976, when Jimmy Carter carried Bexar County by D+9.36 while having unseated Gerald Ford nationally by D+2.06. The difference: Carter and the Democratic party of that period still had their base states in the South. Now the Democrats have their base states in the North. So, for any chance at Texas, getting this county to move over regularly to the Democratic column will help kick in gear the process of the Democratic party winning over—in a presidential election—the state of Texas.

I don't want to copy too much text; but the following should help answer the question about demographics:

As of the census[7] of 2000, 1,392,931 people, 488,942 households, and 345,681 families were residing in the county. The population density was 1,117 people per square mile (431/km²). There were 521,359 housing units at an average density of 418 per square mile (161/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 68.86% White, 7.18% Black or African American, 0.80% Native American, 1.61% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 17.80% from other races, and 3.64% from two or more races. About 54.35% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Races in Bexar County, Texas:

• Hispanic or Latino (58.7%)
• White Non-Hispanic Alone (30.3%)
• Black Non-Hispanic Alone (6.9%)
• Asian alone (2.3%)
• Two or more races (1.3%)

I don't get it.

Did this judge think the GOP was something other than "the party of bigots and hate-mongers" when he joined?

As the Mexicans take over Texas, it is to be expected that many politicians will switch for expediency. No doubt they will, like Carlo, spout high sounding reasons for their switch. Carlo sounds Hispanic to me.

If Texas becomes a blue state, there will never be another Republican president in the GOP's current incarnation. It will have to moderate or die.

Mexico is essentially a one party "democracy". That is the democrat goal for the US.

Dude--recent events suggest that it's more the republican party's goal to move to a one party democracy. They are doing a fine job all by themselves eviserating their party. Stupid is as stupid does...
