Thad1527 Appreciation Thread

Good Friday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and that you're OK with what happens, whether your brothers invite you over or not.

Merry Christmas to all!

I'm getting sentimental over holiday music and TV specials. I'd forgotten how I loved when young Kris Kringle gives the Winter Warlock a toy train as a gift. Awww.

Merry Christmas Thad! (*8*)

Happy New Year's Eve Thad! (*8*)

It's 2024. Hope everyone's off to a good start.

Next Monday I'm jetting off to Nashville! I'm watching the Predators game Tuesday night (vs. the Anaheim Ducks).

The hockey ticket was on sale. Thanks, Preds. And the airfare is dirt-cheap, $40 round-trip. But it's on Spirit. So no luggage; a bag each way would cost more than the airfare. I'll get by with a small backpack.

I'm staying at an Airbnb apartment in the 12 South neighborhood.

I love Music City and am looking forward to experiencing it again!

Have a good time on your Nashville trip to watch the Predators, I hope you have a good time. I've never been to Nashville, which I think is the only large Tennessee city I haven't been to. I don't think I'd like to fly on Spirit airlines, from what I've heard.

I'm home!

Despite a rainy, windy Monday night, I had a good time in Nashville. The hockey game was strange; Anaheim won 5-3 after scoring the first five goals. The first two were lapses on Nashville's part. The third Anaheim goal was a pretty power play goal.

I didn't do everything I wanted, of course. I didn't get to the Frist Art Museum or go to the gay bars on Church. I didn't eat at a meat-and-three.

But I DID many things on my agenda. I went to Trax, my favorite Nashville gay bar. I shopped at Kroger and Publix. I ate at Varallo's, Nashville's oldest restaurant. I had the buffet at Shoney's. I ate at Pancake Pantry, where I last visited in 1997. It's much the same.

I listened to live music while enjoying a midday drink at a Broadway honky-tonk. This time it was at Old Red, Blake Shelton's place. That's one of my favorite Nashville things to do and there are many choices.

So I'm going back in April for Pride Night at the Predators.

Good Monday evening, Thad! (*8*)

I'm glad you enjoyed your Nashville trip, and hope you're making yourself comfortable at home. It sounds like the winter weather is coming your way. Keep warm and cozy, and curl up with a good book under the covers, or maybe there'll be some good hockey games on TV.

Funny you mentioned it. I'm watching the Flyers-Blues game on TV as snow falls outside.

It's not supposed to be a big snowfall.

And I'm sipping Cherry Coke and nibbling Pepperidge Farm Goldfish crackers.

The game is tied 2-2 in the third period.

I like my life.

I'm headed to Pittsburgh tomorrow and on to Cleveland Friday. Here's hoping for few weather-related problems.

Good Friday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I see you're on another trip. I hope you like Pittsburgh, and that you'll have a good time in Cleveland. Are you taking in any hockey on this trip?

Happy Sunday Thad! (*8*)

No hockey this time. A wonderful performance by Paul Taylor Dance Company last night, though.

I might have gone to the Cleveland Monsters game Friday...but my bus was canceled. I took the train to Cleveland instead, which ran on time but was several hours later. I spent most of the wait at Blue Moon bar in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville section, at a RuPaul's Drag Race viewing party.

Good Monday morning, Thad! (*8*)

It sounds like you're having a great trip to Pittsburgh and Cleveland, taking in live dance performances and viewing parties. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

I'm home!

It was a tricky walk Tuesday morning in Cleveland from the bus stop to the train station. There were some icy spots. It was raining and the temperature was very near freezing. But I made it. The train ride was uneventful and uncrowded. Amtrak has SO much more legroom than airplanes, buses, or even NJ Transit trains.

I stayed home all day, even though I need bread (or bagels or English muffins or...). I'll head out tomorrow morning. I made an omelet today. And had two small pots of coffee over the course of the day. (I use a 5-cup coffeemaker. Usually one pot is perfect for a day.)

I watched Jeopardy! then switched to the Bruins-Hurricanes game on TNT. By coincidence, I'm wearing my Boston Bruins t-shirt.
