Thad1527 Appreciation Thread

Good Saturday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I'm sure you're glad to be home. It's good to relax in familiar surroundings, and watch hockey or Jeopardy or whatever. I have a small coffeemaker, which has 4 cups marked on the decanter, but it usually amounts to two cups when I use my coffee mugs, plenty for me in the morning.

I'm home, thanks. Only a couple day trips scheduled for February: to NY Tuesday 2/6 to see the taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and to Newark NJ Thursday 2/8 to see the New Jersey Devils host the Calgary Flames.

Good Sunday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I hope you're enjoying your quiet weekend at home. It sounds like you're going to have some nice trips in a couple of days. It sounds interesting to be in a studio audience for the taping of a live show. I've never done that (except I was in the audience of a Christian television station back in the 90s. They invited us, and we were out loud and proud. Whatever they thought they were doing, I'm sure it didn't turn out the way they were expecting!). BTW, what time are they taping The Late Show? You usually get the feeling that late shows are happening live, but if they're really taped during the day, that means you have a completely different audience, and people act differently at different times of the day.

I have to be in line for The Late Show at 4:30 pm. It is a few hours in advance of airing.

I'm also on the standby list for a 9:30 am taping of Tamron Hall's show that morning, but I don't think that will open. I applied for a few taping tickets for late February and early March.

Good Wednesday morning, Thad! (*8*)

How'd The Late Show taping go? Did you have fun? And you've got the hockey game tomorrow. And have you heard about any of the other tickets for show tapings you applied for?

Well, Tuesday had a slight change of plans.

I did get on the priority list for The Tamron Hall Show, so I was in line at 9 AM. They were welcoming and did not have us waiting outside for long. There was a comfortable waiting room where we sat until the studio opened.

The guests were Kenya Moore and Hank Philippi Ryan. Ms. Moore is best known for "Real Housewives" (ick!), but is co-starring in a Lifetime movie, "Abducted from the Street." It airs this Saturday and is based on a story of a 23-year-old Black American girl who was taken by a predator. Ms. Moore plays the mother.

Hank Philippi Ryan was a TV news reporter in Boston, won many Emmys, and chose at age 47 to become a writer. She's had success, and her 14th book just came out.

The show also has a shopping segment. The audience was given gifts of items from that segment.

So I had a shopping bag with: a versatile purse, glittery purple gloves, and a combination jewelry and hand cleaner.
We also got a copy of Ryan's new book.

So I had a bagful of merchandise which I didn't want to take into the Colbert studio. I canceled the Late Show ticket, had lunch in the Village, and went home early.

Looking back, I probably should have passed up the gifts (but kept the book) and gone to Colbert. But I now have gifts to give in the future and I'm not tired.

Hockey tonight!

Good Sunday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I hope you enjoyed the hockey game the other night. Your experience with the Tamron Hall Show sounds interesting. For my money, I think I would have preferred to go to the Stephen Colbert show given a choice, but that's your decision.

I went to two Devils hockey games this week!

Thursday was vs. the Calgaty Flames. Flames eon, 5-3, but it never seemed close. I have a new appreciation for Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom, who is on my calendar this month.

Then I was home Monday morning, looking at the hockey schedule, realizing the Devils were home playing Seattle, and going to Stub Hub to see if tickets were cheap. Oh, yeah. I jumped on the offer, an ipper-level seat on the side, for under $24.

I'm now officially a jinx for the Seattle Kraken. I've seen them in person three times. They've never won in my presence. And the first two games were in Seattle (Dec. 2022)!

My favorite Kraken player, Oliver Bjorkstrand, #22, played but wasn't at all noteworthy.

I stayed home all today. It snowed but was over by mid-afternoon. I could have gone out, but it'll wait until tomorrow. I have a library visit to make: two books to return, one to pick up.

Happy Valentine's Day Thad! (*8*)

Good Thursday morning, Thad! (*8*)

Sounds like you're having lots of fun going to all those hockey games. I remember when I lived in Tampa, I'd go with friends to watch the Lightning play in the Thunderdome (now Tropicana Field) in St. Petersburg. We'd go for planned evenings out, weekend games, on the spur of the moment decisions, and I remember we went to a game once because the weather was crappy and cold for a big parade we had planned to go to. As I remember we usually used to buy our tickets there (remember, the place was built as a baseball stadium, not a hockey arena). But now they play across the Bay in Amalie Arena (Ice Palace) in Downtown Tampa, which I think was a good move for them. I only got to see them there a couple of times before I moved away from that area.

Good Tuesday night, Thad! (*8*)

I'm sure you're looking forward to getting paid tomorrow, and I hope you can loosen up on your spending, and buy some things that will help you enjoy life, as well as the things you need.

Although the money comes later today, I planned well and had plenty for a visit to Dollar Tree and a spaghetti dinner at the VFW. Dinner was.delicious and I love local fundraisers.

Good Tuesday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I hope all is well with you. Seems I saw something about you visiting Ohio for a month. I hope you have a good time there.

I leave on the train to Cleveland this Thursday, then to Columbus next Monday for a Blue Jackets game. No.trains to Columbus (although there may be in the future).

In the meantime, I did 3 loads of laundry today. Tomorrow I'll try to eat everything in the ref4igerator.

Good Wednesday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I saw that you're back home after your Ohio trip, and seeing the Blue Jackets game in Columbus. I hope you had a good time out there.
