Thad1527 Appreciation Thread

I'm home,!

I had lunch today with a former coworker. It was good getting caught up, but there was some bad news along the way. Only a few of our coworkers are still with the company. There were resignations and an unjust firing over a cup of coffee. Really?!

But some of our acquaintances are doing well. I was glad to learn of a wedding, a baby, and a new job for various folks.

I watched the hockey doubleheader on TNT tonight. My next game in person in March 21 when the Winnipeg Jets visit the New Jersey Devils in Newark. I'm wearing my old-school Jets jersey with the "Goals for Kids" shoulder patch. It's one of my most treasured clothing items.

Tomorrow I'll visit the grocery for bread and milk.

All is well! Hope you are too.

Good afternoon Thad!
It's good to see old acquaintances from time to time and get the latest news :)
I hope you'll enjoy your next live game

Good Thursday morning, Thad! (*8*)

Tonight's going to be the hockey game between the Winnipeg Jets and the New Jersey Devils. I hope you have a good time there.

Thursday's hockey game was OK. I was being a renegade and rooted for the Jets...but the Devils scored 3 power play goals and won 4-1.

I won tickets to see Lalah Hathaway at City Winery in center city Philadelphia Tuesday night. And I'm going to New York Thursday to be in the audience for The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Good Thursday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I'm happy you had a great time at the Lalah Hathaway concert the other night. She's another artist I have to familiarize myself with.

And today's the Kelly Clarkson show. I hope you enjoy it.

Happy Easter!

The TV taping was fun, although you do get kept waiting a while. At least NBC has all the waiting indoors at Rockefeller Center.

The show airs Monday, 4/1. It will be interesting to see, since the segments are taped out of order, and the musical guest wasn't even there. It's all edited. Kelly flubbed her song, and we know an edited version will be aired.

So I'm laying low this week, and flying to Nashville next Sunday.

Happy Easter Monday, Thad! (*8*)

I'm glad you got to see the Kelly Clarkson Show, and it looks like you got some insight into how television programs are put together.

I hope you enjoy your NHL hockey game in Nashville next week.

It was interesting to see the edited, rearranged version of the show I saw taped!

They didn't even try to explain where the musjcal guest was. It was clearly somewhere else. They did have us in the audience applaud as if we enjoyed the performance. We never saw or heard it. Now that I did hear it, I thought he sounded like a Nashville musician playing the early shift in a not-so-popular joint off Broadway..Although I do love early-in-the-day live music in uncrowded rooms....

Good Friday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I see you're flying to Nashville to watch the Predators play hockey during Pride Night on Monday. Hope the trip and the game are fun,

Happy FRIYAY Thad! (*8*)

Oh my!

I'm getting things together for my Nashville trip. Since I'm on the super-cheap airline where a bag costs more than the flight, I'm taking only a small backpack. There is a laundry in my Airbnb and I'm flying home Friday anyway.

Good Thursday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I hope you're enjoying yourself in Nashville, that you had fun watching the Predators play hockey on Pride Night, and maybe got a chance to take in a good music performance or two. Let us know how it went when you get back.

Nashville was fun! The Predators did Pride Night right, with many LGBT community groups represented. Here's the t-shirt that was included in the special game night package:

I stayed the first night at the LaQuinta on Donelson Pike near Nashville Airport. It's a lovely hotel. I then returned to the Airbnb apartment where I stayed in January. It's in the Edgehill neighborhood, near Belmont University.

I saw the eclipse peek thru clouds near Green Hills Mall. It was partial in Nashville.

Tuesday's Predators hockey game was exciting. The Preds scored two third-period goals to force overtime. Although they lost in overtime, they clinched a playoff spot.

Wednesday was my day for exploring Nashville. I visited the Tennessee State Museum, which focuses on history. The feature is the "Tennessee Time Tunnel," which goes from Earth's creation to today.
From there I ate at Frankie V's, a new LGBT-friendly bar and restaurant 8n a converted house in the historic Germantown neighborhood. Good Mexican comfort food, and a yummy margarita.
Then to funky East Nashville. At the game I got a card for free tokens at UpDoen, a bar and arcade. I got a DrPepper and played 10 games of pinball. Iron Man was my favorite machine there.
Lastly to Trax, my favorite Nashville gay bar. It was an early night.

Now it gets complicated!

I flew Frontier Airlines, the low-cost carrier. Philadelphia to Nashville was an easy nonstop. Coming home, they offered a connection with a 13-hour layover in Denver.
This is where you can make fun of me. But I LOVE Denver, Denver loves me, and I took it. The plan was to arrive at Denver Airport around 10 AM, take the train into town, and be back for the connection at 11 PM.

The flight to Denver and train were fine! I had lunch at In-and-Out Burger on Central Park, went downtown, did a little day drinking at the Denver Eagle. I left there at 6 PM to head tobother bars...
And found email that 5he flight to Philadelphia that night was canceled.

Yikes! I headed back to the airport, checking if there might be another flight...I thought there may have been. But I got to the airport, went to ticketing, and it took a while...but there was a connecting flight leaving early the next morning, with a 6-hour layover...in Cincinnati.

OK. I had time to kill. I took the train back to Denver and visited two gay bars new to me. The Tight End is a sports bar with lots of TVs. I liked it but it was very quiet, since the only sports on any of the TVs was basketball from Sacramento. I then went down Colfaz Anenue toward the state Capitol to Buddies, which was busier but I felt aloof from their crowd. Then back on the train...boy, I got to rediscover Denver's A line! Went thru airport security after midnight with ABSOLUTELY NO WAIT. If you've ever used Denver airport, famous for long lines, you'd be amazed.
The flight to Cincinnati was delayed an hour, but I didn't mind with a long layover upcoming.

Let me tell you, CVG is a great airport for a layover! They have lots of food options, including Skyline Chili. I LOVE Cincinnati chili and enjoyed a large 3-way, spaghetti topped with chili and lots of cheese.
There was an entire wing of the airport that was quiet! British Airways uses it but apparently not at that time. So I napped.
The final flight was half-full and pleasant. So I'm home!

Good Monday morning, Thad! (*8*)

It sounds like you really enjoyed your trip to Nashville, and the unscheduled visit to Denver. Quite an adventure! Oh, but you're planning to fly to Cleveland? Hmm, when do you ever stop?
