Thad1527 Appreciation Thread

Good Sunday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I'm glad you thoroughly enjoyed New Orleans, with all the partying, eating, checking out the sights, etc. Your descriptions and pics remind me of my visit there 21 years ago, pre-Katrina. Oh yes, the muggy heat and rain of the city sound quite familiar. BTW, did you notice the rice in the salt shaker in that restaurant pic? That's a trick in humid climates to keep the salt from clumping. We used to do that in Florida.

Enjoy your Camden County Pride today! What was that old song, "Mary Hill used to hang out in Cherry Hill Park...?"

South Jersey Pride was a beautiful day in a lovely setting. But the entertainment was mediocre...the best thing was Andrea Lamour in a lovely black gown lip-syncing to Gladys Knight. I liked her, but that's a low bar. And no hot men. Guess they were all down the shore.

One more Pride celebration, in Moorestown, NJ next month. I've always liked Moorestown, a historic Quaker town with pretty parks.

My favorite band, Jukebox the Ghost, is appearing in town this Tuesday! They're touring with Lawrence, who I don't know at all.

Good Thursday morning, Thad! (*8*)

Well, it looks like you took your trip to New Orleans at just the right time, now that they're got hurricane Francine to contend with. Sorry that South Jersey Pride wasn't better. From the pictures you posted, it looked like that Pride wasn't well attended, which might have been part of the problem. I still think Pridefests are very important, since I remember a time when having something like this was unthinkable, and some politicians down here in Florida would like to make it that way again.

The attendance at South Jersey Pride was OK...the demographics, not so much.
Today looks good! I'm headed to the library and Dollar Tree for paper products. I'm actually feeling very blessed. I have everything I actually need.

Good Wednesday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I hope you're all rested up, and ready to go on your next adventure. Or have you already found some event to attend?

I plan to go to a Fringe event early this evening.

Meanwhile, I'm listening to more Lawrence. I think this is my favorite, at least right now;

Good Monday morning, Thad! (*8*)

It seems you keep finding interesting groups to listen to like Lawrence and Jukebox the Ghost. There are a lot of good acts out there, but these days it seems to be hard to find them. I tend to livestream a community radio station's broadcast from Tampa, because they tend to play a lot of music you'd otherwise never hear. But I'm still amazed that lots of JUBBERS come up with great music.

I'm sure you're glad you went to the Naked Poetry Reading, and it sounds like you enjoyed yourself. My ex is a nudist, and we went to a lot of nude events when we were together. It seems that a lot of gay men are attracted to the the nudist/naturist lifestyle, and it seems you can meet a lot of open-minded straights like that poetry reader with the big balls.

Good Monday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I'm glad to see you're getting into the hockey season, attending games and keeping up with the players.

Good Thursday morning, Thad! (*8*)

I'm glad you're having fun attending the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. I'm sure that "a solo queer noir musical, bitch" presentation was something else. I imagine it involved drag queens with attitude strutting around in stage and delivering obscene barbs to each other, and maybe the audience.

It was a solo musical. Dan played all the parts, including Velma von der Fullpussy. Lots of funny dirty jokes and double entendres (you got that one, right?) and the essential twist...or two.

I can't quite afford Orlando this month, but I love the idea!

I AM going to Nashville Oct. 24-27 for the Predators Pride game. One of my favorite Nashville bars, Trax, closed last July. But I'll be staying in East Nashville near Canvas, another favorite bar of mine.

Last season Bryan Ruby was the musician at Predators Pride. He's openly gay and a former baseball player and a fine musician. He's hoping to return this year! This is Bryan's latest YouTube video.

Good Friday morning, Thad! (*8*)

It's sometimes interesting to see broadcasts from another part of the country, like the hockey game. I was a bit surprised to see college football on television early on Saturday morning when I was in California several years ago. I just had to realize that it was already in the afternoon in the Eastern Time Zone, so the simultaneous broadcast would mean they would be on television in the morning in the Pacific Time Zone.

I know you're looking forward to your Nashville trip for the Predators Pride game.

This weekend is OURfest, Philadelphia's celebration of National Coming Out Day. It's been the largest block party of its kind, and is now run by GALAEI, the local Latino-oriented LGBT organization, after ado about the previous sponsors.

I'll be there!
