Thank you from Us

Mitri, you're going through something which there was no possible way to prepare for. I have no way to even guess how I would react in the same situation, but you seen to be doing a noble job of it, and you've reached out to the best place. I think your brother knows unconditionally that he is loved, and it also appears that the worst and most dangerous parts of it have passed.

If you feel that you need to cry, and you're not in the same room as Dreu, go ahead. There's nothing wrong with that. And thank you for keeping us updated, both directly and via MP in Georgia.

We're all looking forward to the return of the thoughtfulness, love and humor in Dreu's posts, and I hope that you'll be able to drop in sometimes as well.

Best wishes for your bro's recovery. He's lucky to have you. Tell him to live if only for you.

Dmitrius,
First I would like to say that no one could ask for a better
brother than you. If you had not acted as you did when this
happened Dreu may not have made it.Your father knows that.
Dreu knows that and recognises you at his side.
You are to be congratulated for what you have done. With
every day that passes his chances are better and better.
My love and best wishes to you Mitri, Dreu and your father.
Mitri take care of yourself, rest when you can and eat
to keep up your own strength and also thank you so much
for keeping us up to date on our friends condition.
God Bless You Mitri,
Shea (*8*)

Dreu.. Be Better.

I dont know what to say really. I have been gone from here all week and I come back to you in the hospital.

Others say it better than I.

~ On Facing Adversity ~

Sent by my sister Kati, in the midst of of our daughter Kristiina's hospitalization, a way of assessing how one deals with crisis—as a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean. We would like to think in the face of adversity we are like the coffee bean—when things are at their worst, we change the situation around us, rather than being changed by the situation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When faced with crisis how do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?

A daughter complained to her father about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In one he placed carrots, in the second he placed eggs, and the last he placed ground coffee beans. He let them sit and boil, without saying a word.

The daughter sucked her teeth and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing. In about twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them a bowl. Then he ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her he asked. "Darling, what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

He brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. She smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. She humbly asked. "What does it mean Father?"

He explained that each of them had faced the same adversity, boiling water, but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. But after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" he asked his daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Are you the carrot that seems hard, but with pain and adversity do you wilt and become soft and lose your strength?

Are you the egg, which starts off with a malleable heart?
Were you a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a divorce, or a layoff have you become hardened and stiff. Your shell looks the same, but are you bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and heart?

Or are you like the coffee bean?
The bean changes the hot water; the thing that is bringing the pain, to its peak flavor reaches 212 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water gets the hottest, it just tastes better.

If you are like the coffee bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and make things better around you.

I love that story and I take it to heart everyday.

Dreu you are definately a coffee bean and I know you will be strong and somehow better when you get through this challenge.

It is hard to type and cry.

I will have you in my thoughts Dreu.

BE STRONG

my brother have much better day today with talk and energy. He keep many people busy with difficulty of his mood. I am thinking I would be unhappy also in his bed. He has much worry of cut of vain of neck I think. This make him upset. He talk full conversation sometime but fall asleep easy in the middle of this. Much drug to keep him calm too.

All is get better. Just much more slow than I think I want this to be. More slow that he want to be I am most sure.

Hi Mitri
This is good news. The Dreu is getting better. He has energy.
Don't worry about his mood....that is normal after surgery like that. Don't let it upset you.

I hope you had some sleep.
Make sure you eat also...and look after yourself.
It's awful spending a lot of time at the hospital, but Dreu will appreciate it.

Glad to hear the good news. I'm still praying for him and your family.

i'm glad to hear it! a fiesty, cranky and moody dreu fills me with much hope. ;)

i'm sure he doesn't care to be in bed like this, most of us wouldn't. but he's had a major operation and it will simply take time for him to heal. thanks for the update mitri! i know i've been wondering how he's coming along.

It is just so wonderful to continue to hear more and more good news. Thank you Mitri! (*8*)

Have the doctors given you any idea of how long it will take him to recover? Maybe 2 to 3 weeks? 1 month? 6 months?

It is probably not safe to hug him yet. If it is safe to do so, please kiss his cheek from all of us at JUB.

He's feeling well enough to ask me for a tater sammich ;)

((a slight dig at my southern slang :D ))

it's totally udnerstandable that he's unhappy/uncomfy in the hospital bed. believe me, my patients have said so, LOL. his energy and talkative behavior is a good sign of recovery.

i understand that it's frustrating to wait, but just be patient. i know it's a difficult task, but it's important not to rush because you want to be sure that he is at a good stage of his progress before he leaves the hospital.

send him a kiss  on the cheek from me. and this hug is for you (*8*)

Thanks for the update, Mitri. I expect the crankiness just goes with being in the hospital. No one is in a good mood in the hospital.

Ahhhh.....great new to hear this morning

I've been thinking about you and Dreu

Thanks so much for the updates

THANK YOU! for the Great News, Mitri, and MP!! ..|

I've been thinking much of all of You, and "The Dreu"!! (group)

"Fiesty and cranky" is Fantastic!! And, though He may be keeping the staff on their toes, "dealing" with Him, I'll bet all of them are just as happy to see signs of a Strong recovery!! (!w!)

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)
Chaz ;)

That's good to hear, Mitri! :D

How are you? Are your eating and getting rest? Please take care of yourself. (*8*)

I know Andreus will be better. Thanks for the info Mitri and Midnight Prism. Without you guys we would all be in the dark. I hope you two and your Dad Mitri, can stay strong.

I can't imagine Andreus being willful. :)

My god such a major surgery would have to have a slow measured recovery.

As far as the falling asleep during a convo, when James had his lung re-inflated he did the same thing. I think its the morphine. James said the weirdest thing was while he was talkin to people they would instantly move or disappear from the room. He was unaware that he had fallin asleep. He said the TV was impossible.

Let Dreu know we are in that room with him even if we are half way across the US or even the globe for some of us.

Great news, Mitri, I'm glad to hear that the Dreu is a lot more talkative. ..|

As for the bed, well, they'll eventually get him to talk a few tentative steps, then he'll be able to do more for himself. That's only natural after something major.

Dreu I am tryin hard to be the coffee bean but you gotta come back soon. I know the trial wont make ya soft but I fear it will make you hardened. Be well and come back.
