I'm kinda worried about the same thing (but on my mother's side) but at the same time I'm trying to convince myself that if they don't love me for me, why keep them around?

It will be interesting as years pass to see if any in your dad's family come around. I think the most interesting thing is that your dad won't pay for college if you do journalism! What kinds of things would he pay for (just out of curiosity... not suggesting you pursue any of those)?
