I don't really get what you're implying, but it's not as if I believe that all Swedes are like this. Sweden is 30 minutes away from my door and I have several Swedish friends.
At a very convenient time, my English skills become limited - is "that old chestnut" some US colloquialism?
On the igloo thing: The Norwegians have igloos with little ski jumps on top of them, the Swedes have "ABBA" carved into every ice cube and we Danes have a winter version of the little mermaid next to the waterhole outside the igloo (to attract the ice bears so we can kill and eat them)![]()
Yes....and every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings. That a flower grows for every drop of rain that falls.
LOL, so that's what the Danish people think of us, okay, now I understand the looks everytime I'm in Copenhagen and speak Swedish to clerks or people on the streetFor instance, I'll always (almost unconsciously) think of the Swedish as being into kitschy/cheesy pop music and generally not able to control their alcohol intake. Very stereotype-ish and politically incorrect. However, I just do.
haha, almost there yes, a little more sjjj practicing and you're set to take on the Swedish navyNo, really, we love you - Sju sjösjuke sjömänn...can almost say it now...
Ah, that really sucks when you're buying something and they look like it's their last day on earth and they're stuck working there. Or what's worse is the fake half-smile some give you. I'm not asking for your job or anything, a normal "thank you and goodbye" without an attitude or facial expression does it, least you can do for helping you get a paycheck. And on the clerk thing: Don't worry, it's just because service in Copenhagen is just as poor as it is in Stockholm... It's the equality thing we have up here... Just because you work as a trainee in H&M, it doesn't mean you should actually be smiling to people who buy stuff from you, apparently.
Well, hehe - another one for me, which maybe is not too popular to say here, is that Americans are really loud... If you're in a restaurant (just happened a month ago in Amsterdam for me last time), you'll stop having whatever conversation you'd be having when 2+ Americans enter the place - because you are no longer able to hear your own voiceOr.... is this just another stereotype?
