The 12th Doctor Who

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

...I want Tom Hiddleston but I very much doubt they'd be able to afford him.

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

Even Helen Mirren has been mentioned. Won't happen but would stir things up.

Maybe a Dalek?

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

Patrick Stewart. Sir Pat would be so good for the role!

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

So it's to be Peter Capaldi. :D

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

Yay, he's going to be awesome! Also, I'm so glad the 12th doctor is a Peter cap-oldy. Getting sick of younger and younger doctors!

He's going to be amazing but very sweary :)

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

He does look Doctor Who-ish. I am sure he'll do very well.

He already has ties to 'Doctor Who' having appeared in a pivotal role in the third season of Torchwood.

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

Hopefully he'll bring back some much-needed drama and seriousness to the role which has been sadly lacking ever since its relaunch. Since they brought the show back in 2005, it's been nothing but comedic buffoonery, stupid antics, hyperactivity, manic nonsense, faster-than-lightning plots, and over-acting.

I grew up in the 80's with the old show and the even older VHS releases. I remain first and foremost a fan of the original series (1963-1989) and the first seven Doctors, and nothing I've ever seen in the new series is really going to change that.

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

That's the very reason it died all those years ago... the over acting and seriousness of the old series. Get over yourself!

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

As for Peter Capaldi, he played Caecillius in Fires of Pompeii in Series/Season 4. I won't hold that against him, let's see what he does come series/season 8. :D

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

I thought Matt Smith was adorable and sexy, in a goofy way. I'm sad to see him go.

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

Seriously, relax! It's just a show! We have no idea what Peter Capaldi's Doctor will be like! The actor is just one tiny piece of the puzzle for that show! And I've been a fan longer than SOME of you have been alive. I'm still under 39... TG!

I thought the exact same thing about Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. I honestly kinda had a mad crush on both Nine and Ten. ;)

12th Doctor Who -- Peter Capalidi

As for Peter Capaldi, he played Caecillius in Fires of Pompeii in Series/Season 4. I won't hold that against him, let's see what he does come series/season 8. :D

What always gets me about Capaldi is his role in Torchwood: Children of Earth! It was such a tragic role, but so well acted!

And seriously, if you want my analysis, checkout my NEW blog, which I just started, specifically focused on this topic, but branching away into other relevant Sci-Fi related stuff as well. Thanks!

Peter Capaldi Tapped to Play Next 'Doctor Who'

During a Sunday BBC One special, actor Peter Capaldi was revealed as the latest to topline the 50-year-old British franchise. He'll join the sci-fi series when current lead Matt Smith departs the role after this year's Christmas special.

Re: Who will be the 12th Doctor?

I kind of liked the unspoken plot line that at each regeneration the doctor seemed to get younger and younger. I guess that's out the window now, not that it was hugely consistent.

Re: Who will be the 12th Doctor?

That would be pretty silly. So his final regeneration is a foetus?

Re: Who will be the 12th Doctor?

Maybe he starts over as women ? I dunno! LOL

Re: Who will be the 12th Doctor?

The short answer is "no". Peter Cushing was probably in as many Hammer horror films as Christopher Lee, but he always seemed to play subsidiary roles. It's Lee who sticks in my mind.

Subsidiary roles? what like VAN HELSING!!!

Re: 12th Doctor Who introduction 8/4/2013

I'm reserving judgement until I actually see him on screen. He's a very capable actor and I think he'll do the role justice
