the 1st 'birther' state

Race is not what its all about. The only people that make this about race are the democrats and liberals that support Obama.

Right. Race didn't motivate the tea baggers who spat on a black congressman or shouted racial epithets at them.

anyone can do their own 'research' into this

i dont have the time or inclination to chase down & fact check all the hits on google. here are some search words

Obama & Perkins Coie LL & Robert F. Bauer & Judith Corley & Birth Certificate

^You seem to have plenty of time to post. Why not take some time to post accurate and truthful material? You know, quality instead of quantity.

I wonder how much shit I can stir here with this.

This is STILL up for debate?! I don't give a rats ass if you like him as your President. He was elected fair and square so stop whining. Focus on the real issues instead of this BS.

It's like the countless people who still cry "MUSLIM in the White House!"

An Arizona rep on Anderson Cooper, how he got elected in the first place is a mystery and of intense curiosity to those of us who didn't grow up in the US:

I'm not a so-called "birther."

I don't understand why Obama just doesn't ask the state of Hawaii to release a copy of the original (I don't mean the certificate of birth either - you can get one of those with your driver's license and 45 bucks) and get this over with.

Obama's lack of response just keeps this stupid thing alive.

I think Obama shouldn't even engage with these people, once overcome with chronic constipation as a direct result of intense bigotry, these people might take a rest, or waste away (hopefully).

It's a petty bill, and overall really annoying. I think a lot of Arizonans are annoyed that Senator John McCain lost the election. I was rooting for him for quite a while myself. As Senator, he's been one of the most middle-ground politicians I've ever witnessed, but has been dragged far into Republican rhetoric since his defeat. It's sad because I don't think he really believes in the things he stands for anymore.

Anyway, even if this bill passes, it won't change all that much in the short term. The bill only affects Arizona, and Arizona is a traditionally Republican state (with the exception of the primarily Democratic Tucson area).

The bill is unconstitutional anyway. A state cannot impose additional requirements for federal office.

I still can't believe your elections are run by local officials of the state instead of national officials of an elections agency or something. There shouldn't be 50 ways of electing one national leader.

The point of this bill is that the legislature of Arizona has enough ignorant Republicans who believe Prez Obama was not born in Hawaii that they can pass a bill that they believe will knock him off the ballot in 2012. It is pathetic that the legislature would waste its time with such nonsense.

Would not make any difference if Obama's Birth Certificate were shown most of these birthers can read or write. They get there education from Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.

do you think obama shouldnt produce a BC if this bill becomes law in arz?

good

and i believe they do. i have stated that a few times in different threads

but if Hi has it and this bill becomes law then obama's people should produce it if he decides to run in 2012. IMO, they should have a long time ago

If the change Hawaii made is like what they did in Oregon, it may take a court order to get the State of Hawaii to supply a copy of the actual birth certificate.

I used to have a miniature one in my wallet -- used it for crossing the border. But I lost it, and guess what? I'd have to produce a substantial, material reason (words something like that) for needing an actual birth certificate as opposed to a certification of live birth.

I don't know what drove this change; personally, I think it's stupid -- there was nothing broken with the birth certificate system.

This is yet but another reason why I don't give a flying rats ass about these people or their "theories."

George W. Bush, despite his fake Texas "accent" and his "Cowboy" ways was born in Connecticut.

And don't tell me, that with Sarah Palin's "Minnesota" you betcha accent accent that she's was born and raised a resident of the Great State of Alaska. [-X

I would imagine that many folks in the Great State of Hawaii take offense when they hear that "Obama wasn't born in America."

Well of course he wasn't!

He was born in the Kingdom of Hawaii that was annexed into the Nation Building Christian Republic of the United States of Jesus.

So sayeth our Founding Fatherhood just after they landed their space ships at Area 51. ..|

Don't blame me, I read this in an upcoming Texas Social Studies textbook. ;)

Priceless. :gogirl: :=D: ..|

You forgot "Communist". :p

The bill is unconstitutional anyway. A state cannot impose additional requirements for federal office.

There aren't any requirements for federal office in the law except the ones that already exist. It's merely a state making a change in its own internal procedures, specifically how it makes sure that names going on the ballot are there legally.

I still can't believe your elections are run by local officials of the state instead of national officials of an elections agency or something. There shouldn't be 50 ways of electing one national leader.

So, in Europe, you think that all elections in the different states/countries should be run by the EU?

Where has anybody made the argument that the federal government would be meddling in the affairs of state-level elections? Your analogy doesn't fit the circumstances.

Why should any state have the right to singularly meddle in the affairs of federal elections?

an actual birth certificate as opposed to a certification of live birth.

Again, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, the "a certification of live birth" the president provided IS a birth certificate. Hawaii clarified this long ago. It is simply an updated electronic birth certificate rather than a paper one. It is not some document that does not rise to the legal definition of "birth certificate". That is one of the falsehoods the birther movement has aimed to perpetuate.
