Will be announced this week. Wednesday, March 14 on CBS' "The Early Show," to be exact. As a viewer of six of the nine programs that air daily, I'm gonna give my early forecast as who I see getting nominated. Note: These are whom I think the Emmy panel will vote for, not necessarily my choices and of course they are culled from the Pre-Nominees Selections:

Younger Actress

Alexandra Chando (Maddie, As The World Turns)
Jennifer Landon (Gwen, As The World Turns)
Julie Marie Berman (Lulu, General Hospital)
Marcy Rylan (Lizzie, Guiding Light)
Kristen Alderson (Starr, One Life To Live)

~ Alderson has been rejected from this category for far too long. At only 15-years-of-age, she's been on her show longer than any of the other actresses (eight years!). But Berman will be the one to beat and if the daughter of Genie Francis' legendary Laura character wins, well that's probably one less reason the Emmy-less Francis will return to 'General Hospital.'

Younger Actor

Van Hansis (Luke, As The World Turns)
Scott Clifton (Dillion, General Hospital)
Tom Pelphrey (Jonathan, Guiding Light)
John-Paul Lavosier (Rex, One Life To Live)
Bryton McClure (Devon, Young & Restless)

~ Van Hansis, having the coming out storyline under his belt, is certainly the front-runner although the sentimental vote might go to Clifton. This will be his fourth year in a row without any wins.

Supporting Actress

Cady McClain (Dixie, All My Children)
Kelly Menighan Hensley (Emily, As The World Turns)
Lesli Kay (Felicia, Bold & Beautiful)
Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth, General Hospital)
Heather Tom (Kelly, One Life To Live)

~ This will more than likely be the only category All My Children will get a nomination for. The all around moral whether it be from the soap press, actors, fans, etc. is at an absolute low for this show. And awarding the fired McClain a nomination will be poetic justice. :-({|=

Supporting Actor

Ric Hearst (Ric, General Hospital)
Jordan Clarke (Billy, Guiding Light)
Tuc Watkins (David, One Life To Live)
Greg Rikaart (Kevin, Young & Restless)
Kristoff St. John (Neil, Young & Restless)

~ I have no idea why 'General Hospital' felt the need to pump up Greg Vaughan's Lucky Spencer character with Emmy-worthy material and an Emmy-worthy performance and then not include him in the pre-nomination ballot?!? So, this category, I really don't care much about even though that hottie to end all hotties Tuc Watkins, is eligible. ..|

Lead Actress

Susan Flannery (Stephanie, Bold & Beautiful)
Kristian Alfonso (Hope, Days Of Our Lives)
Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, General Hospital)
Laura Wright (Carly, General Hospital)
Kim Zimmer (Reva, Guiding Light)

~ Zimmer proclaimed that she would never again put her name up for contention in this category if she won last year. She won and as you can see, her words mean nothing as she has let CBS put her name up and since the academy adores her melodramatic acting + a cancer storyline, she is a shoe-in for a nod. But I would love it if Kassie DePaiva (Blair, One Life To Live) made an appearance.

Lead Actor

Steve Burton (Jason, General Hospital)
Anthony Geary (Luke, General Hospital)
Ron Raines (Alan, Guiding Light)
Trevor St. John (Todd, One Life To Live)
Peter Bergman (Jack, Young & Restless)

~ It will all come down to Geary 'vs.' Bergman. There is no doubt that these two will be up for the award. The question is, which one will again?

Outstanding Drama

As The World Turns
Bold & Beautiful
General Hospital
Young & Restless

~ Ya can't (and won't) beat 'General Hospital' in '07.

I agree with most of your predictions, with one big exception. For Lead Actress, it has to be Maura West from "As The World Turns". She was phenomenal in her marriage-breakup scenes.

I REEALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY hope that Katherine Kelly Lang FINALLY gets her much delayed, yet deserved Best Actress nomination. What else does this actress have to do to get recognition.

Flannery would get nominated for reading the letters in the alphabet.

I hope KKL submitted the right episodes, if she did she has to be nominated.

She needed to have submitted the episode where she and her father (Patrick Duffy) go at it. KKL showed so many range of emotions that day, she hit it out of the part. It was serious, material and it was dealt with honestly and with passion.

She also should have submitted the one where she is on the deck with Nick and he falls over and then Brooke waits a while before she throws the lifevest over. But its her facial expressions in that scene that sold it.

P.S. I hope you are right about Cady McClain winning. Wouldn't that be justice, and a swift kick in the butt for the toilet that has become All My Children?

Here are my predictions...

Here's who I think WILL be nominated, with winners in red...

I would have a hard time choosing between Jesse Soffer and Van Hansis. Van had the "big message" type of role, but Jesse always delivers, and he should have won last year.

The lead categories will be announced this morning on "The Early Show," within the next 15 minutes!

Here's the official acting nominations, along with my commentary:

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series
AS THE WORLD TURNS * CBS
MAURA WEST, AS CARLY SNYDER

GUIDING LIGHT * CBS
CRYSTAL CHAPPELL, AS OLIVIA SPENCER

GUIDING LIGHT * CBS
KIM ZIMMER, AS REVA SHAYNE LEWIS

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS * CBS
JEANNE COOPER, AS KATHERINE CHANCELLOR

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS * CBS
MICHELLE STAFFORD, AS PHYLLIS SUMMERS NEWMAN

~ The omission of Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, General Hospital) is incredibly obvious what with the incredible year she had on her show (finding out her arch rival is in fact her daughter, going bald in a much braver than 'Guiding Light' cancer storyline, finding out her husband and new found daughter were screwing). Although I don't watch 'The Bold & The Beautiful,' I read that Susan Flannery was a shoe-in here. I don't remember Jeanne Cooper (Katherine, The Young & The Restless) and Crystal Chappell (Olivia, Guiding Light) even having meaty enough storylines in '06 to merit them supporting actor contention. Sadly, Zimmer will probably win this one again.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series

AS THE WORLD TURNS * CBS
MICHAEL PARK, AS JACK SNYDER

GENERAL HOSPITAL * ABC
ANTHONY GEARY, AS LUKE SPENCER

GUIDING LIGHT * CBS
RICKY PAULL GOLDIN, AS GUS AITORO

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS * CBS
PETER BERGMAN, AS JACK ABBOTT

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS * CBS
CHRISTIAN LEBLANC, AS MICHAEL BALDWIN

~ Wow, of the five lead actor nominations, only one comes from ABC. And Anthony Geary will more than likely steal the prize away from the CBS boys.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL * CBS
LESLI KAY, AS FELICIA FORRESTER

GENERAL HOSPITAL * ABC
GENIE FRANCIS, AS LAURA SPENCER

GENERAL HOSPITAL * ABC
REBECCA HERBST, AS ELIZABETH WEBBER

GUIDING LIGHT * CBS
GINA TOGNONI, AS DINAH MARLER

ONE LIFE TO LIVE * ABC
RENEE ELISE GOLDSBERRY, AS EVANGELINE WILLIAMSON

ONE LIFE TO LIVE * ABC
HEATHER TOM, AS KELLY CRAMER

~ A lot of my favorites in this category (Tognoni, Tom, etc.) but I am split on the 'General Hospital' girls. Rebecca Herbst was given some incredibly great material in the latter half of '06 and the girl took it and D.E.L.I.V.E.R.E.D.

On the other hand, the sentimental vote definitely goes to Genie Francis who, in nearly 30 years of being on 'GH,' has only managed two nominations. Although she snagged this nomination with only a one-month appearance, I don't consider her to be a dark horse. Vanessa Marcil (Brenda) won the award in 2003 for only three months' worth of work.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series

AS THE WORLD TURNS * CBS
TRENT DAWSON, AS HENRY COLEMAN

GENERAL HOSPITAL * ABC
RICK HEARST, AS RIC LANSING

ONE LIFE TO LIVE * ABC
DAN GAUTHIER, AS KEVIN BUCHANAN

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS * CBS
GREG RIKAART, AS KEVIN FISHER

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS * CBS
KRISTOFF ST. JOHN, AS NEIL WINTERS

~ Is that a typo?!? The academy actually recognized the incredible job Dan Gauthier did on 'One Life To Live' during his swan song year?!? Give it to him already!!!

Outstanding Younger Actress In A Drama Series

ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
LEVEN RAMBIN, AS LILY MONTGOMERY

AS THE WORLD TURNS * CBS
JENNIFER LANDON, AS GWEN MUNSON

AS THE WORLD TURNS * CBS
ALEXANDRA CHANDO, AS MADDIE COLEMAN

GENERAL HOSPITAL * ABC
JULIE BERMAN, AS LULU SPENCER

GUIDING LIGHT * CBS
STEPHANIE GATSCHET, AS TAMMY WINSLOW

~ Ya know, you can add all these girls up and you still wouldn't have the incredible dynamite that you have in young Kristen Alderson (Starr, One Life To Live). When will they recognize what a hot little commodity she is?!? Would be great to see Berman and her TV mom Francis take home their respective prizes. Wonder if a mother and daughter (character-wise) team have ever done this simultaneously?

Outstanding Younger Actor In A Drama Series

AS THE WORLD TURNS * CBS
VAN HANSIS, AS LUKE SNYDER

AS THE WORLD TURNS * CBS
JESSE SOFFER, AS WILL MUNSON

GUIDING LIGHT * CBS
TOM PELPHREY, AS JONATHAN RANDALL

PASSIONS * NBC
JAMES STEVENSON, AS JARED CASEY

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS * CBS
BRYTON McCLURE, AS DEVON HAMILTON

~ As much as I hope and want to believe Van Hansis is a shoe in, I'm not so sure. I thought for sure Eden Riegel (Bianca, All My Children) would take home the Emmy in 2001 for her incredible coming-out storyline. Nope!

Not in 2002 either ... or 2004 ... the actress of the lesbian character wasn't given the Emmy until 2005, the year she decided to leave 'All My Children.' So, as far as this category goes, anything is possible really.

Are my eyes seeing things or did the panel actually nominate somebody (who the heck is he, anyways?!?) from an NBC soap?!? Wow.

~ Kevin in Tulsa

PASSIONS * NBC
JAMES STEVENSON, AS JARED CASEY

Horay!!

CBS SUCKS! Who's with me? Alexa Haven was robbed once again. Also, Jeff Brason anyone?

Wow! James Stevenson has been a breath of fresh air as Jared on Passions. I'm proud for someone from Passions getting a nom.

I'm an NBC soaps guy anyway ;-)

Days is amazing. And I just realized you have Kate in your avatar. That's pretty sweet...but she can't carry a tune with Sami ;-).

I think that Sami and Kate have equal footing. Still, neither of them hold a candle to the REAL bitches of Salem from back in the day -- Vivian Alamain and Kristen Blake DiMera.

Do you post on any soap boards?

NBC just isn't taken seriously when it comes to acting. The Emmys seem to think that NBC just hires models who can take their shirts off, but can't act worth a damn. The Emmys are correct.

I've stopped watching DAYS when Kristen & Co. left the show. I tried watching again recently and it just wasn't the same... even with my personal fave Jack & Jen. Time to bring back Mike Horton, folks. What happened to the Hortons!?!

Kristen was milquetoast. I agree with Vivian, but remember even further back in the days of Angelica Deveraux or even further to Megan Hathaway? And who was the nun who went crazy and developed a split personality? Was that Marie Horton? (All of this before any of you were born, I'm sure. *sigh*)

I hope Van Hansis wins. I can't believe they nominated Michael Park for anything, let alone as lead. That's about all I can say. I haven't watched in months and months, alas.

That's an incorrect blanket statement.

Yes, NBC soaps are known for hiring models rather than actors. But "Days of Our Lives" casting department has been EXCELLENT over the last five years. Martha Madison, Brandon Beemer, Judi Evans, Blake Berris, Rachel Melvin, Shayna Rose, James Scott, Heather Lindell... all fantastic actors and actresses.

Your statement is a cliche. And untrue. Yes, there are some bad apples, but it doesn't mean that EVERY actor on an NBC soap is talentless, because there are many talented folks who don't deserve to go overlooked just because of a few bad apple peers. JMO!

New headwriter Hogan Sheffer claims to have plans to "replenish the Horton family." We shall see!

I didn't get to see Angelica Deveraux, but I've seen clips of her on YouTube! Love, love, love her! The actress who played Angelica is currently portraying mega-bitch Tracy Quartermaine on General Hospital (her name is Jane Elliott, BTW).

The nun you're talking about was definitely Marie Horton. I believe she fell in love with her brother, who had gone off to war and came back disfigured and she didn't know who he was until she was already madly, passionately in love with him. That drove her crazy, LoL.

I loooooved Vivian Alamain. It doesn't get any better than burying someone alive and torturing them with a walkie-talkie! And to top it all off, she injected Carly's patients with cleaning fluid to murder them and frame Carly. Then she stole Kate's fertilized embryo and had it implanted inside herself to carry the child in her own womb... total nutcase! I loved her. I would kill for Louise Sorel to make a return to Salem.

Ya know, it just dawned on me that we have THREE MONTHS to go before the awards show itself (Friday, June 15).

So we should have dissected, analyzed and pin-pointed each award by then. LOL. And it's always interesting in the weeks before the show to see the 'buzz' and see which way it sways and sways against, etc.

As far as I am concerned, I don't care who wins in any category as long as Kim Zimmer doesn't win. :grrr: I'm entitled to my opinion and I think she is a major bitch and yes, I have my reasons (SEVERAL) to back them up. Another sweep for 'Guiding Light' will honestly not bother me.

Heck it is going to be the lowest-rated soap when 'Passions' goes off the air this summer so I think it might be good for the venerable CBS sudser. But no more Emmys for Zimmer!
