The Amazing Race

Margie and Luke did a shitty job on that makeup too. They should have had to do it over. They are getting a free pass on things because he is deaf. And it is obvious that Phil is rooting for them.

Thats bullshit. They are good competitors. They made it this far on their own. And I think Luke would have done a better job on the makeup if his mom wasnt being such a whiner about it.

And I think Luke is a cutie. :)

I'm kind of upset Jen & Kisha lost a foot race because Jen had to pee, but I'm really going to have to say i want Jaime & Cara to win. Based on what i've read, everyone HATES them, but I can't stand Margie nor Victor. And as much as Jaime is such a bitch ( tht made no sense) i still understand her frustrations. They have absoultely horrible luck in comparison to the other two. Victor and Tammy totally had an upper leg being in China and Margie and Luke have always had everyone rooting for them and have never once had a dent with a taxi driver. Yeah, Jaime's a bitch, but I'm really rooting for them because its been 14 season w/o female winners and I'm tired of watching the most obvious & luckiest teams win!

On the CBS website they have elimination station clips where they show all the eliminated teams. Apparently they have them all staying together and fly them to some of the locations. I thought they sent them to the end and left them there. I guess it's sorta like Survivor's ponderosa. It's funny because all the final 3 teams are pretty much hated especially the redheads. The whole group was so disappointed that Jen and Kisha were just eliminated. Everyone wanted Jen and Kisha to win.

not just luck. they have to do good to last this long. if they were eliminated in that vampire race, i bet you wouldn't say this.

and come on, 2008, olympic in china. china is much bigger than thailand. there would be more races.

what the hell are you talking about? I said luck because they speak the language and the game took them to China...it's luck not skill they succeeded so fast in China.

and what the hell are you talking about the Olympics and Thailand? I made no mention of the size of the country.

Well, I was hoping for Luke too, but at least he was able to win the whole race. I thought he showed great sportsmanship by helping the cheerleaders with the surfboards. And then they helped him as well. It was a great race.

This is the best reality show on TV ever.

Just give them the Emmy right now.

I am almost crying now. I love it when my team wins.

This is back to back wins for me.

I picked Nick and Star last from the start too.

Tammy and Victor are so awesome and this season was meant for them with China and all.

Am i the only one that thought dropping the pig would have been a penalty? Because its food? how can you be dropping while Margie and Luke held it the correct way.

When Tammy and Victor were running to the finish i wasrunning too, i got goosebumps, its so xciting.

Although they are lawyers so do they really need the money? or is it a misconception that lawyers are rich lol

I am so happy right now you have no idea.

This show is such a rush.

They need to do and all star amazing race.

What i dont get is by now its the 14th season so why dont new contestants write down what they did during each leg because at the end you are always going to have to recall.

The ability to speak Chinese is not luck. It gave them an advantage, but it's not luck. They weren't born with that ability -- they had to learn it. If any of the other teams took the time to learn Chinese (or any other language that could be used in the race) then they would also have an advantage. And if you remembered the race in China, Tammy and Victor didn't always reach the roadblocks/detours first.

Not to mention, Tammy and Victor did not plan the race. China is a country of a billion people (just like India, which the Amazing Race visits every season), so it's not all that shocking that it was one of the race destinations.

But what I think he was saying was that it WAS luck that the producers took them to a place where they were fluent in the language. Especially when one entire challenge was SPEAKING the language.

Had they been to say Russia for two consecutive legs they wouldn't have had that advantage.

^Besides that one challenge being fluent in CHinese was a huge advantage period. Plus they spent multiple legs of the race in the China. When the race was being planned out by CBS they were aware that one team that was fluent in Chinese would be at that destination for that length of time. it seems like poor planning.

And it was at the end. I felt the same way when BJ & Tyler managed to "come from behind" in season 9 because they spent the final two episodes in Japan and one of them spoke Japanese. I don't know... I can't imagine that when they're casting they don't ask these people what language they're fluent in and I acknowledge that they can't know who's going to be in the final leg. But when the last destination is a country with an entirely different alphabet and one of the team gets a huge advantage over the other teams... I don't know.

I mean if you think about his season the only reason Kisha and Jen got yielded was because Victor and Tammy finished the Chinese Speaking challenge so quickly and I'd wager if they weren't already fluent they would've been as intimidated by it as everyone else and would've had to do what turned out to be the harder challenge.

EXACTLY. And even with Tammy and Victor being fluent in Chinese they messed up on that challenge at first because of the intricacies of Manadarin Chinese the slightest mispronunciations could change the meanings of words. That task would have been unbelievably hard for someone who doesnt speak it at all. That's why I found it remarkable that Kisha and Jen were able to finish that task.

I couldnt root for Tammy and Victor because it was just so lame that they wouldnt even admit what a huge advantage they had.

I don't think the timing of the race in China intentionally gave Tammy and Victor a push. The race moved its way East and wrapped up in Hawaii, so I think it's logical that China was a race location before the final leg.

And let's not forget the great equalizer -- it does not discriminate, and it happens every season, multiple times. There are always flights or trains or roadblocks or whatever -- that force all the teams to wait until a specific time in order to proceed, which then allows all the teams to catch up and race on a level playing field. It happened during the finale on the flight from Beijing to Maui. Any sort of "advantage" that Tammy and Victor were able to produce by speaking Mandarin only won them a trip for 2 to the Caribbean -- it didn't win the race for them. All 3 teams spoke English in Hawaii, and Tammy and Victor were able to win because they were good racers.

I just don't think the producers were manipulating the competition by selecting a team that happened to speak a foreign language at a crucial point in the race. They're young brother-and-sister lawyers -- that's an interesting brother and sister dynamic for this competition. That's my opinion...

I don't think the producers were manipulating anything nor did I claim that they were. And those "great equalizers" didn't happen DURING these legs if you notice. They happened between them, for instance after China they all had the same flight to Florida but that doesn't change the fact that had Tammy and Victor not spoken fluent Chinese than it might have been Kisha and Jen on that flight for all we know.

Moral of the story is though I don't think the producers "manipulated" anything I do believe that if they knew the last two legs of the race were going to be in China they shouldn't have cast any teams that were fluent in Chinese.

hmm there were 2 legs in russia. and officially there were 2 legs (pit stops) in china. and i don't recall TV said they are fluent in chinese. did they not completed that task on 2nd try? did KJ not finish that task pretty quick?

if TV did the make up task instead, how can you assume they won't finish their task early? remember all 3 other teams got lost after the makeup task.

TV are of taiwainese descendants. there are many countries w/ ppl speaking chinese (taiwan, china, vietnam, philippines, malaysia, singapore, chinatown in various countries). having contestant(s) speaking chinese and avoiding these places and language tasks? if no chinese, then it's fair. if there's, then it's NOT fair. sound like racial profiling to me.

Tammy and Victor were most certainly fluent in Chinese they repeated that fact about once every five minutes. They had just been there for the Olympics, which they also repeated every five minutes. It has nothing to do with "racial profiling" you apparently just weren't paying any damn attention to what they said over the course of the last three legs. I really don't think it's that crazy to say that when you're going to have the LAST two legs in one place AND creating an entire challenge which centers around speaking that native language a producer who wanted to keep things fair wouldn't have chosen a team that was fully fluent in that language.

We have no clue how fast Jen and Kisha finished the task because it was shown to us in montage. But the reality of the situation was that the other three teams all got hung up on the alternative costume challenge, which sounded like the easier of the two, and had Tammy and Victor not been fluent in Chinese they probably would've done the costume challenge and been wandering around the streets like the rest of the contestants.

Maybe Victor and Tammy would've finished the costume challenge first and yeilded the sisters. Or maybe they wouldn't have taken longer than the sisters, Kisha and Jen wouldn't have been yeilded and Cara and Jamie would've gone home. This certainly would've set an interesting stage for the finals considering Jenn and Kisha could likely haul that pig far faster than the cheerleaders. We have no way of knowing these things. But the reality of the situation is that knowing Chinese did greatly aid Tammy and Victor in their win and it was an outside advantage that the other teams did not have that the producers did or should have known about it.

Oh and lets not forget how Tammy and Victor were able to converse with the airline personnel to get the other teams sandbagged with seats at the back of the plane.

2 things here my fellow jubber
V&T Stunk!!!!!!!:didisay:
& there has already been a all star show..|

You can keep a journal of anything you want during the race but you cannot use it in the final task.
Amazing Race All Stars was Season 11 - Eric and Danielle?

As far as finales went this one was pretty blah. Luke choked and Victor passed him. Once V & T got in their cab to the finish line they didn't even bother editing the cab rides to make it look closer than it was. They spent far too long on Luke in the cab - boo freaking hoo - you lost the race yourself after all the work your Mom did carrying you this far.

Agreed. In fact they spent so little time cross cutting the ending I thought that Victor and Tammy might actually lose.
