The amount of song lyrics in our brains

I can't get that stupid despacito out of my mind. I've been singing it for a week.

i know a lot of songs....i amaze myself sometimes...i could name that tune in one gawumpki

There is a lot of crap in our brains, I have never been a music guy but I am surprised at how I come up with songs that I heard 50 years ago.
Devil with the blue dress..., Yummy Yummy Yummy I got love in my Tummy, Bang Bang, I shot him down..., There are coming to take me away ha ha..
Just to name a few.

Why is that? I'm sure there's more important stuff to remember. Stupid brains!

I see and hear young people at work singing or chanting every word of hip-hop songs almost every day. The music is sometimes total crap* - but it's been memorized.

*crap - foul language not just used for dramatic effect; violent and advocating violence; misogynistic (use of the b-word); racist (I thought the n-word got left on the ole plantation); homophobic; repetitive; boring (with all that!)

My ear worm for the day and new add to my playlist...thanks!

Not only do we have brains filled with lyrics, but a lot of brain space is also taken up by music which doesn't even have lyrics.

I could win alot of the times on the Name that Tune and Shazamm shows....

The earworm I get the most is..

We mostly listen to instrumental classical music which mitigates much of the ear worm syndrome.

I’ll get instrumentals (and instrumental parts of vocal songs) stuck in my head all the time. It’s especially annoying wandering around half-singing “ba-bow-ba-da-bow-bow” as the bit runs through my head all day.

Lex

Only song I hate having stuck in my head is the Love Boat theme.
