Coldplay Releases Their New Single... For Free!

Clicky.

I heard about this on the radio, after listening to the song. Great song, and best of all, I don't have to resort to other methods to get it. Now if other artists could follow Coldplay and NIN's path. :gogirl:

Re: Coldplay Releases Their New Single... For Free

They are also doing free concerts in NY and London. You have to keep checking the site to find out how to get the tickets. I know I'll be trying!

I saw Coldplay live in Austin, TX at the South by Southwest music festival a couple years ago. They most definitely put on a great show! ..| (and yeah, I'll be corny and say that during "Yellow," the yellow balloons bouncing around the crowd was kinda cool! The pound of dust I inhaled from the dirt at the festival, on the other hand, was not.)

And, fwiw, I heard on the radio that Metallica is going to start offering free music soon as well. This from the band that originally sued Napster at the beginning of the whole digital music/file sharing craze... ;)

Re: Coldplay Releases Their New Single... For Free

I found out today that I won tickets to the Madison Square Garden show on June 23!!!!

Can't wait!

Re: Coldplay Releases Their New Single... For Free

Dear Coldplay:

For the last time. You are not and never will be U2. You don't have the talent. So please, for the love of god, stop trying and, in the words of Blondie, just go away.

No love,
Me.

Dear Metallica,

You're just pissy because you haven't released a good song in god knows how long. You can stop trying too. Maybe try going back to not sucking?

Thanks!
Me

(I'm not looking to fight or insult anyone's potential love of coldplay or metallica. I just happen to think they blow. )

Re: Coldplay Releases Their New Single... For Free

I'm gonna offer a thanks but no thanks. Boyfriend would object ;-)

Yeah, how 'bout we stop stealing the topic?

Yeah, how 'bout we stop stealing the topic?

Agreed.

That whole conversation completely went off topic and should have been taken to PM about how much you guys like/dislike Coldplay, without the attacks.

Back to topic.

Re: Coldplay Releases Their New Single... For Free

Too bad Radiohead already released their entire album for free, haha.

I normally dislike Coldplay because they fell into the habit of sounding like themselves. Emotionally-manipulative, falsetto crooning about some tragic topic that teen boys will cry about when their girlfriends break their hearts or will think they're "deep."

But, I am pleasantly pleased with this single they've been promoting with iTunes. It's refreshing from them.

But NotYourFriend hit it on the head when he said they sound too much like U2. It take away from the song that it's missing that spark of something different.

Still, I enjoy it pretty well.

Coldplay

I originally posted this in Entertainment, but didn't get any responses, so I thought I would try here.

I have an extra ticket to the free Coldplay concert at Madison Square Garden on Monday June 23rd at 8:00. This is a free concert and a free ticket on floor level!

If you are interested, PM me.

"You know how I know you're gay?"

"How?"

"You listen to Coldplay."

Coldplay achieves its first N°1 song

Coldplay claims its first-ever Hot 100 No. 1 with "Viva La Vida," which climbs 2-1 on the chart that will be released tomorrow (June 19).

The song shifts 246,000 downloads in its third week atop Hot Digital Songs, while the track continues to build at multiple radio formats, holding top 20 rankings at Adult Top 40 (No. 15) and Modern Rock (No. 16).

In other Coldplay news, the group has tapped Santogold as the opening act for most of its North American tour, which begins July 14 in Los Angeles.

I love that song, it's so good.

Re: Coldplay achieves its first N°1 song

this is the only song from the new album that i really like. i can't stop listening to it.

Re: Coldplay achieves its first N°1 song

YAY! Congrats to them. I fucking love that song to death, along with "Violet Hill." Their new album is amazing too.

Re: Coldplay achieves its first N°1 song

I think that's great. The song is #1 because of huge sales, and it's only #65 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart, which is nice to see because the audience made this song a hit, and not the formulaic radio programmers.
