The Band Coldplay

I have never really listened to coldplay. I know they won best album of the year though. Well rock album. And I know their last CD "Viva La Vida" was really popular for some reason.

I think there are a hell lot better bands then them. But I never really listened to them.

2/10. Their bland, boring and evil. I mean what loving parent calls their child Apple? That is just true evil and child cruelty right there.

They get a 2 and not a 1 because the lowest spot is always reserved for Kings Of Leon.

On a scale of being "greatest ever" = 1 (I'd really vote zero)

On a scale of being somewhat enjoyable and decent = 2-3

I like one or two of their songs. Otherwise, their just boring and repetitive.

I'm truly not sure I could rate them...............but I do know that I've heard & enjoyed some of their music...............

I don't even know what they sound like. I mostly listen to indie rock on college public radio these days, and they don't play Coldplay.

So why'd I pipe up in this thread?

I have no idea. Moseying along now... :D

As much as I love them, from a legit analysis of music, I give them a 5. There are average and definately overhyped. Parachutes is still their best album imo. Then again most music is crap now anyways.

At least the don't fall into the dreaded 'generic rock bank' catagory like other bands (I'm looking at you Nickelback). Go piano rock! lol

I had not heard Joe Satriani's version until now. The similarities cannot be denied. On the other hand, I cannot say that I am suprised as it is very common for that to occur in the music business (Steal Now, Sue Later).

The last time I watched one of their music videos, the guy seemed to hate singing, didnt look like he was enjoying it, and just looked as dead as a zombie, on top of their music being an absolute mockery of the word music.

So, you watched one video, that you did not enjoy, and made a generalization about his whole personality or even the consistency of how they sing in general? Are you sure it had nothing to do with the music itself? I've seen him perform live and I cannot say the same.

And its funny how people lacking in any form of artistic ability think that simply critisizing a music act on the grounds of their music, musical ability, and (in)ability to sing means that the person critisizing hates them.

A lot of times, it is simple hate. For whatever reason(s), people often comment on ideas unrelated to the music or the find one miniscule reason to have disdain for a person or band.

I suppose you never did pay attention to music classes at school, but its ok. Just dont ever try studying music at degree level where critical analysis is a requirement, just as part of any arts degree.

Most people don't, so I do not see how it would be any different. Most people can quickly tell you about their personal preferences, but they cannot analyze music/artistry beyond that.

It's so funny how some people some how associate Coldplay to gay guys (The 40 Year Old Virgin) when half of us don't even like them.

I on the other hand, Love em

So you can just suck it ;D

Oh please.

if you're going to accuse them of ripping off Joe Satriani for that, you'll have to accuse Joe Satriani of ripping off "Hearts" by Marty Vallance which has the same three notes and similar chords. Released in the early 80s.

Joe Satriani is being a douche for throwing a fit about an album track nobody knew until the Coldplay song came out and the two of them share THREE NOTES.

I mean really...

At best, 3. They're highly overrated and the only people more pretentious than the band themselves are their fans.

No the pretentious person here is you, you don't like the music so anyone who does is pretentious? Please pull your head out of your arse. They CAN just enjoy the music.

on-topic: Most of their songs rub me the wrong way and I can't listen to them without crawling the walls, having said that, they are much better than most other "bands" and "singers", and I use the words quite wrongly, in the last few years.
